While Melisandre does whatever she does with Alduin, I take a diamond from my pocket dimension. The diamond is the size of my fist, and it cost me a lot of money to buy. Diamond is a perfect material to store mana and a perfect material to amplify spells.
I don't know why, but a perfect material for spell casting, crafting, or storing costs a lot of money. It is as if magic is a young master from a Wuxia or Xianxia novel who wants the most expensive thing to pay for their work.
I shake my head and push a large amount of mana into the diamond. It takes almost all of my mana reserve to fill it. That is the reason why diamonds are great for storing mana. The other material of the same size can only get half of my mana reserve at most.
This diamond, on the other hand, can store ninety-seven percent of my mana.
After making the mana battery, I sit on a boulder and take a deep breath. I can feel a massive amount of mana get inside my body, and I carefully make sure no Necrotic mana gets inside my mana core.
After fifteen minutes of meditating, my mana core is now half full.
I open my eyes and move my hand downward. A second later, a one-meter diameter hole appeared in front of me. I nod, keep sending more mana into my spell, and see the hole get deeper every second.
When it reaches around twenty meters deep, I stop and make the diamond in my hand float above the hole.
"Let's do this."
I connect my mana to the diamond and throw it into the hole. I can feel my mana connect to the deeper part of the earth. I take a deep breath and clap my hand. A second later, the earth underneath me starts to rumble, and the earth starts to move.
I move my hand and create a wall of earth and a rough tower of the same material. I flatten the ground and create a deep moat around the wall. It takes me half an hour, but I manage to create a massive wall, moat, and tower for all my soldiers who will come.
I remove the diamond from the hole and feel only a quarter of mana is left inside of it. This is enough for the next part.
I walk to the hole in my wall and take out a hundred kilos of iron from my pocket dimension. I put them aside and let the diamond float in the air once again. I clap my hand and use the mana inside the diamond to connect to the earth and the iron next to me.
A second later, the earth surges, and the iron melts. I use my gravity magic and make sure the iron changes shape. It takes me ten minutes, but I finally finish a gatehouse, complete with the iron gate.
I want a drawbridge, but it will take a long time, and we only have a couple of days before the fight.
Now, I need four more gates if something gets wrong, so I can at least order my men to retreat.
~Two hours later~
I wipe the sweat on my forehead and release a tired sigh. I finished making the fort. I even make a temporary dumping place, deep underground, complete with runes that burn the shit inside every three hours.
I also make a public bathhouse complete with a runic script that generates warm water when someone presses it.
I might make this fortress as a defense against an undead horde, but there is no reason to make it uncomfortable. Not only will it maintain hygiene and make sure my men do not get sick, but it also improves morale.
"Bedroom, check. Bathroom, check. What's next? Hmmm, should I make a kitchen? No. I don't need to make one. Armory for all the weapons and lab for the alchemist is more desirable."
However, before I can do anything, I can see a massive shadow covering the ground. I look up and see Alduin get back from wherever he is going. I blink for a few seconds when I see he is carrying a massive basket.
When he landed next to me, I could see many people inside that basket holding on for their lives.
"My Azor Ahai, I have brought the people willing to fight in your name."
I see them slowly get off Aludin's back. The tallest man walks up to me and says.
"My name is Olaf Magmar, the Great Thane of Skagos"
He introduced himself to me. I nod and say.
"My name is Viserys Targaryen, and that flying lizard's father."
After I said that, Alduin used his wing to hit me.
"Anyway, can I ask what she promises to you?"
"She did not tell you? Is she doing something you did not want?"
"No. I know what she wants to do, but I don't know the extent of her plan. Tell me what she promised so I can prepare it."
"Food and a chance to see a better day for my people."
I look at him for a few seconds and say.
"A chance for a better future, huh? If so, why did you decide to take all of them here? This place will soon be a battlefield. We will fight against an undead army. The army will not get tired and will continue fighting until we die. Why did you bring them here?"
"Because we did not have any choices left. She promises us food, and we already know that the Great Ice Lord has already awakened and is now moving. Our elder told us."
He looked at the elder holding a long staff in her hand.
"Soon, his magic will kill us even if a normal winter already kills many of us. This is what was left of the Skagosi. When the Great Ice Lord moves south, our land will be covered in snow, and we will die. We rather die fighting than die sitting inside our home."
I look at him for a few seconds, searching for any deceit or something. Seeing none, I nod and say.
"Very well. Welcome to the team. We are the people who fight against an army from hell, and we will win this. After this battle is over, I will give you anything you want. I swear this in the name of Targaryen."
