Lilian’s Feathers

Somewhere in a hospital on earth, a beautiful young blonde-haired mother safely gave birth to a baby girl.

A young handsome dark-haired man was at her side through the whole long process. He was feeling a mix of worry, excitement, relief, and happiness; when he saw his exhausted wife finally gave birth to his healthy baby girl.

The hospital staff let the baby be held by the young mother. When she held her baby, the young couple felt the sweet joy when the baby smiled. After their short moment was finished, the hospital staff carefully took the baby and cleaned the mother and child.

A few hours later, the newborn baby is peacefully sleeping in the mother's room at the hospital. The young couple glanced at each other before staring happily at the sleeping child.

When they observed every part of the child, they noticed a silver lotus shaped birthmark is lying above the center between her eyebrows.

"Lilian, our precious daughter." The young mother spoke. 'I could finally raise you personally with love.' She thought.

While the couple continued to stare lovingly at the sleeping child, the young man had a flash of deja vu. 'Although I'm happy to have a child, even if it's Lilian, I have always seen her as my daughter. But why do I get the feeling this has happened before...' the father of the newborn thought. 'Oh well, I'll just throw it to the back of my mind.'

About sixteen years has passed from that day. A cloaked figure with a dark colored face mask that is imbedded in silver gems was heading straight to a place that is guided by her galaxy-like crystal necklace.

The figure is currently hopping on top of the buildings in the clear night avoiding places with people. The figure finally stopped in her tracks and jumped down a dark secluded alley way. Her shoes quietly landed on the ground and continued to walk along the dark alley.

[Stop! I sense some presence and it's not just one but a few of them] The galaxy crystal stone telepathically spoke to the cloaked figure.

[I know that] The cloaked figure replied telepathically to the crystal necklace as she blended to the shadows from the moonlight.

Hidden at the end of the dark alley, the figure and the crystal stone saw a crack of space. It is the distortions that often happens after the earth had to restart. The distortions usually connects two different worlds and sometimes creatures accidentally cross over through these cracks.

Usually, the cloaked figure and the crystal stone would be the ones to help return the creatures from other worlds back through the distortions. They had to quickly help them before the distortions close, because distortions have a time-limit.

But this time, unknown human presences were near the distortion. The cloaked figure and the crystal stone weren't ignorant about others who have a similar job as they do, but usually they each have their own territory. This distortion is in their own territory, so who were these people?

[There's five young and suspicious group of people about your age, big sis] The crystal stone spoke.

[I know that, but they seem to be searching for something judging by the strange trail of icky liquid that came from the distortion] The supposedly "big sis" had said as she continued to observe with a serious look.

[Oh my word! The world is ending. My big sis had said something smart] The crystal stone sarcastically said. [Think of this as your training. What can you get from seeing their outfits?]

[They're all wearing the same outfit]The cloaked "big sis" stated in a matter-of-fact way.

[I know, but what about it?] The crystal stone internally rolled her eyes.

[It looks like a school uniform from a rich private school, but way cuter and cooler than any school uniform in America]

[Go on...] The crystal stone said patiently.

[Judging by their outfits, they are a group of students not from our country. They look like they know what they're doing judging by how calm their presence gave off. Which means they're probably from a special school on a mission or test of some sort]

[Great job! You're training wasn't wasteful after all] The crystal stone complimented the cloaked figure who liked to play the "big sis" role.

[Of course. The many lives I had lived weren't for show you know] The "big sis" said.

[Yeah, yeah. With your recklessness, I still can't believe you manage to live long lives in each reincarnated life you had] 'Although she can be reckless at times, I know she is a calm and intelligent person inside. My...she is just like her mother. Like mother, like daughter.' The stone thought to herself.

As the group of student began to move and followed the icky liquid trail, the cloaked figure and stone secretly followed right after.

[Kara, I sense something too familiar as we get closer to finding the creature who had left a trail. I think it's my feathers!] The cloaked figure excitingly told the crystal stone, Kara, about findings.

[Lilian, could you not yell. Although nobody could hear you, but I do! My ears are hurting!]

[Oh sorry, sis. I was just too excited to finally sense my feathers] The cloaked figure, Lilian, apologized to Kara.

[It's fine, now let's find a way to get your feathers back. I have a feeling we aren't the only ones who may be finding your feathers...] Kara said.

[But there shouldn't be anyone besides us who could sense my feathers nor should there be anyone who knows what they do except for that greedy king who took my wings!]

[You're also at fault for skipping school and being reckless, but you have made a point. Why would a group of students be looking for your feathers? Even if they knew what your feathers do, they won't be able to activate it without you. Luckily, I took you away from that king. He can't absorb the feathers without you nor gain anymore powers] Kara chuckled.

[But Kara, don't forget that I'm also a Seraystal of Healing too. Even without my activation, they have some sort of healing power. Maybe they don't know the true power of my feathers, but it doesn't mean they don't know about the healing power]

[Oh right, you have been using your advancement ability so much that I forgot you had the other one] Kara just now remembered.

Lilian and Kara followed the group of five that seemed to be heading to the woods, right at the outskirts of the city they live at. When the group passed through the woods, they stopped where a small clearing was. What they all saw was a 9-foot dark slime monster eating the trees and vegetation of the woods.

[I sense two of my feathers inside the slime] Lilian informed Kara as she was about to attack the slime.

[Wait! Don't recklessly go attack without thinking things through first. If we suddenly appear, we may be attacked by the group. It will be difficult for you to be attacked by the group and the monster. Let's firstly see what the group will do with the slime. That way we can know their abilities] Kara sweat dropped when she thought of how close they were going to be put into a troublesome situation.

[Fine] Lilian said in dissatisfaction.
