Chapter 33- Rowin Asselin

A guiding map board could be seen inside the edifice, which showed the different location for each available subclasses instructors. The Historian subclass being placed in the floor above. Making his way around the crowded space, Mylo could hear other players arguing about a particular topic of interest.

"Damn! What's wrong with that old man? Aren't all subclasses available for anyone? Why is he being so picky?"

"I know right. When I heard from the receptionist that the historian was a treasure hunter, my expectation where high but that damn geezer isn't willing to accept anyone until his quest has been completed. How am I supposed to find an ancient relic this early in the game?"

"The reason for wanting the historian subclass is to find those relics. It reminded me of those job posting asking for twenty years of work experience for an intern position. It just does not make any logical sense."

"Screw him! I'm going to take the blacksmith subclass, If I can't find epic ranked gear, then I'm going to craft some."

Mylo was surprised by the information he gathered from their conversation. 'You need an ancient relic to get the subclass? He thought. He slowly looked down at his rapier and smirked. He deliberately unequipped his rapier from his waist and placed it inside his inventory space. He did not wish for the instructor to increase the subclass quest difficulty if he saw the unknown relic he had in hand. As such he decided to surprise him after receiving the quest and not before.

"No point in taking the risk."

Seeing numerous players leaving Rowin's room with irritated expression's, stimulated his decision. In his opinion, the harder it was to acquire something in a game, the worthier the compensation was. With confidence, Mylo pushed open the door and was welcomed by an old man sited on a wooden chair, writing something in a piece of paper. The old man did not even take a single glance at his visitor, as if to inform him of his lack on interest towards his guest.

"Reason."

"…sorry?"

"Give me your reason."

"Reason? What do you mean by that?"

"Argh! Give me your reason for wanting to be a historian."

"Oh, I…"

Before expressing his reasoning for wanting this specific subclass. He reminded himself of the numerous individuals exiting the room with dejected expressions. Most, if not all players main reasoning where the facilitation of finding rare items. Yet, this wasn't the only thing in his mind. He mostly wanted to uncover information in regards to his ego sword, emperor Barthelemy and the civilization that inhibited the Lost Kingdom of Einhart. He knew the more information he gathered around that subject, the likely he would receive hidden quests or items. He pondered for a few seconds, then quickly replied back to the old man with a appropriate answer to his question.

"I would say, for the amusement? Time is constantly changing, so does habits, technology, customs, and knowledge. I enjoy learning about another's culture, in particular a culture from a different time line. There exists countless unsolved riddles and unanswered disputes. Retrieving artifacts from the past and placing them in perspective of understanding is also another reason."

Rowin raised his head, took a good look at his guest. The old man looked to be around 60 years old. He had long grey hair and a goatee beard giving him a Mediterranean look. His eyes gave the impression that it could pierce through any lies. He was wearing a monocle in his left eye, his clothes were a fancy brown suit and pants.

"Oho~, that's a first."

"…?"

"That answer is well thought out, I give you that. However, I can tell that you're not giving me the full reason… but that's fine, everyone has their own private reasons, right?

"…"

"Now, compared to other instructors in the building. I have a requirement in order to teach someone."

"What is the requirement?"

"If you want me to teach you the basics of a historian. You have to show me if you have the required luck."

"Luck?"

"Yes, luck. You could define luck as 'chance to find or acquire something'. There aren't many famous historians in the world. But those that were successful were extremely lucky in finding their discoveries. And for that reason, in order to prove to me that you have a good amount of luck, you have to bring me an ancient relic. This relic doesn't have to be anything special but it still has to be ancient. This might take you a few days or a few years. It all depends on your luck. Or you could just give up and choose another sub-path."

"I see."

"…"

"…"

"…"

"Why are you still here?"

"I actually believe I own an ancient relic."

"Hahaha! Do you really think it's that easy to find one? Most are found inside the 'Unknown' territory. If my judgment is not wrong, I believe you're a cursed one. Which means you've only arrived here for about a week? It's just impossible, but il humor you a bit. Show me what you deem to be an ancient relic, HAHAHA!"

Mylo smirked and slowly took out 'Emperor Bertelemy's VII Rapier'.

"!?"

"…"

"W-W-W-WHERE D-DID YOU FIND T-THIS"

"Let's just say I was extremely lucky."

"…"

"I-in my 40 years of work, I have never seen such magnificent relic. I feel such enormous power within this weapon but this power seemed to have been sealed. The esthetic is unique, it seems to be a weapon mainly made for a ruler, a king or emperor. How is it possible, didn't you just arrive to Valsea a few days ago. There's no way you could of found this item here. "

"Like I told you, I was lucky."

"Price!"

"Price?"

"What is your price? Il buy it, tell me what you want!"

"It's not for sale."

"NOT FOR SALE? DON'T BE SELFISH! SELL IT TO ME!"

"I will not repeat myself."

"…Ahem, I apologize for my behavior. I can be a bit… agitated when something excites me."

"It's okay."

Mylo removed the rapier from the instructor's hand and placed it back inside his inventory.

"Was this enough to complete your request?"

"Of course. Here take this. This is the text book manual on the basics of becoming a historian. Knowledge can only be gain from doing the actual work. Good luck."

[You have acquired 'Apprentice Historian Subclass Basic Skills"]

"Thank you. Il make sure to make good use of it. Goodbye"

Mylo turned around and walked out of the room.

"…"

"Will the world be able to handle whatever this young man will discover? I can't wait for this day."
