"What happened?" Elizabeth asked as she saw the two maids scurry out frightfully from Alpha Charles's room. She wondered what exactly it was that had driven them out of his room almost immediately they had gone in.

They were both speechless for a couple of moments, as though they had seen the biggest scares of their lives. Her first guess had been that they had been unable to satisfy the alpha's insatiable desires.

"Are you suddenly dumb?" Queen Elizabeth retorted angrily, as she was annoyed by their continual silence.

"We were doing just what he had asked us to, until suddenly, he just yelled at us to leave…" one of the maids finally mustered some courage to reply the queen's urgent questionings.

"He acted like he had suddenly seen something…" her cohort added. "And all of a sudden he wanted to be left alone. He almost looked like he would kill us both if we didn't leave. We had to--"
