Evangeline had studied fine arts at the academy too. She was a brilliant child who was given money offers. But due to her father's ill health, she never took any.
Everyone soon forgot about her since she never participated in any social event and did not reply to the letters from the teachers. In the end, everyone took her as an arrogant woman who did not make friends.
No one liked her anymore in the academy. But that did not mean they could forget about her talent.
Lady Agatha and the principal were more agitated because the respect of the academy was at stake. What image would this incident leave? That they let their students cheat in exams by letting others give exams on their behalf?
"Miss Evangeline. Could you please explain the current situation? Elene was supposed to take an exam. But why are you here?" Lady Agatha took a deep breath and asked, but her red and fuming eyes still showed how irked she was!
"Isn't Elena your sister? Are you jealous of your step-sister and tried to take her place to insult her?" asked Grace, Elene's friend.
Though Elene would still be disqualified. At least this rumor would save her image. Many had taken favors from Elene. She often distributes free gifts takes them to expensive places and pays herself. Many nodded and understood instantly.
"Or you participated here to disqualify her? You want her to fail like you?" another said with a malicious gaze.
They all were looking at her intensely as if they would not let the matter go until Evangeline was ruined completely. Everyone started to encircle her and insult her. Their eyes were already filled with disgust and they did nothing to hide it.
Evangeline was forced to retreat but she was surrounded on all sides. Some even pushed her with force.
"I am going to report to you. You acted to be someone else. It's a crime. You will rot in jail for hurting Elene. A person should know the limit of malice.'' Many of them were new students and did not have any idea how famous Evan was and she had no reason to be jealous of Elene.
They all were sure that she was here to hurt her step-sister. There are already rumors that she had stolen the lover of her sister and got married to him. She was a jealous woman who left no chance to hurt her sister and torment her.
Their voices were echoing in the room with force. Evan was already prepared to get a backlash but she had underestimated the image of Elene.
No one had blamed her even for a second. They all think it was only her mistake.
"Or she used you to get better marks so that she could win against me?" The voice of Soliene was crisp and clear, dousing cold water on the enthusiastic girls who wanted to malign her image completely.
But before her voice could go bold and she could stand another point, the principal glared at her.
"That is enough! Miss Soliene, you should not behave like this in public," he warned her when she frowned.
It was the girls who were creating drama and using such cruel words but he did not say a word to them.
Yet, when she spoke the truth, she was asked to stay silent. But someone was not ready to give up.
She gritted her teeth and took a step closer but her knights and maids stopped her. The maid held her hands and refused to let go. She was cornered just like Evan.
The principal did not care about Evan since she was not part of the academy. He was only concerned about saving the image of the academy and its students.
If Evan had been blamed for the whole event, Elene could have been saved. They could simply disqualify her and offer her another post showing their sympathy while Someone could have this one.
They did not understand why the girl was frowning and trying to create a scene instead.
Evan sighed. She had come too far only to be part of their malice again. No! She was not going to accept defeat.
But when she stood up to speak, someone clapped.
The soft sound of clapping was followed by a sexy and magnificent voice,
"I could not believe this is how the academy runs these days!" The voice shocked everyone.
They all turned to look at the source of the voice but it shocked them further.
It was Duke Alancaster? What was he doing here? Everyone knew that he was a cursed duke. He hardly visited public places and speak to anyone.
Even if someone was getting killed, he would ignore them as if it was not a big deal. But not even was he here in a private test but he also stood up and made his presence known.
And why was he heading in their direction? What does he have to do with this matter?
While the girl, who did not know much about him, was confused, the principal and teacher Agatha broke into a cold sweat. Their faces were pale and filled with fear.
They held their breath. Already making plans on how to change the facts. If they could convince him that it was the girl's mistake, they need not worry about anything.
He would punish her and get rid of her for them. The thought put them at ease.
But to their shock, he did not give them a chance to explain, he walked towards Evan. The girls were so intimidated by his strong aura that they took a step back instinctively.
Damien stood beside Evan. he only glanced at her for a second but it was enough to race her heart. He stared at the principal with an aura of a kind. His cold eyes penetrated their souls. They were forced to bow their heads.
"The investigation must be done. But it should not be against her but you!"
