Awakening day

One month later.....

I was sitting down in front of the big mirror in my room as my mother combed my already long hair. It had grown down to my back since the time I was born and I had never cut it.

"Don't be nervous, everyone gets this time in their life and they overcome it." said my mother in a soothing voice. "When it was my time, I was so nervous that I broke a family heirloom."

"That's not really helping mom." I replied in a cracking voice.

Mother gave me more words of encouragement before she left to change into her attire for the ceremony.

I walked out of my room in a royal red and blue robe. As I walked down the hallway, I looked outside and I saw the guests arriving in their cars.

Then I saw the king of Valencia. I ran down the hallways as maids and butlers tried to stop me.

I reached him and jumped on him, "Uncle Louis!." He carried me in his arms and we laughed together. We talked for a while before I was taken away.

2 hours later...

Everyone was in the ballroom. There was a stage in the front with stairs at both sides for the emperor and empress and the crown prince to reach their thrones. The ballroom was very large, easily hosting 100 guests. For the commoners, it was broadcasted on their televisions and the same for other kingdoms under the empire.

In the middle of the room, there were two stools with a covered bowl on each of them. The ceremony commenced after the trumpets were blown and a fat announcer shouted, "Hear ye, hear ye, the second prince of Glacier empire, Kevin Paragus shall have his power level and race confirmed on this day, four years from the day he was born, 10th of June 2030. Begin!."

Hearing the word begin, I entered the room with nervous feet. There was whispering even though I couldn't hear what they said. I reached the middle of the room and I bowed down to my mother, father and my elder brother as I had been told to do.

"First, the race confirmation!" shouted the announcer. I turned to the bowl on the right and I removed the cover and drank the liquid inside. At the bottom of the bowl, there was a scroll. I opened it and placed my two hands on it. I removed it and the words ' half - angel ' shone brightly in white and yellow colours.

I could see the impressed looks on the people's faces. 'This is going well.' I thought.

"Now for the power level confirmation!" shouted the announcer. I turned to the other bowl. I saw no scroll inside. I remembered that father had said that it appeared on a person's forearm. I drank the liquid inside. I waited. I waited. I waited.

Nothing happened. Nothing. The realization hit me hard. I am going to be one of those main characters that don't awaken at all and live a miserable life. I could hear whispers and mummers as I put my head down.

"Silence!" ordered my father and them all eyes turned to my mother as she stood up and announced, "Everyone, thus is a joyful day, for today a system holder has awakened!". Everyone stood up and rejoiced. "Wait, what?".

Mother raised up her hand for silence as she continued, "I Haritha Paragus was born into the Corinth clan. A clan where system holders appeared every seven generation. Seeing another system holder appear in two generations straight is a cause of great celebration."

My head was spinning right now, I'm not the only one with a system, mother too. Did she reincarnate, did everyone reincarnate. I'm loosing my mind right now.

"Dear Kevin, do you mind telling us you rank and power level ?." mother asked with a gentle smile. I looked at my stat panel and saw some changes.

"M-my power level is at level 119 and my rank is at 2." Another round of mummering ensued making me more nervous than I was before. "For the final test, it's time to bring out your magic affinity." she said with a smile that made me lose some of my nervousness.

Some servants brought out another bowl this time. It was much bigger than the other ones. Inside it was a liquid much clearer than I had seen before.

"The 'water' you are looking at is called the spring of destiny. If you have fire, it burns up, water and it will swirl around, air and the water shall blow cooling breeze, earth and it shall harden, lightning and it shall sparkle with lightning Now, put your hands in the water."

I slowly put my hands in the water, everything was going in slow motion in my side. I put my hands in the water and suddenly a black hole opened by my side shocking the ghosts out of everyone in the room. It closed up and next the water turned into steam but with no fire and turned into ice and back into water.

Everyone turned to my mother for an explanation seeing a shocked expression on her face for a second.

She quickly collected her self and shouted, "This is the result of the analysis on Kevin Paragus." Everyone was listening intently to hear my affinities.
