"I'm not going to die, and I highly doubt I would be done in by such an opponent when I've survived a Galaxian Mage and a Flower Mage. However, the only thing I have to note is not to let the beast release its tail from its mouth. Otherwise, a whole new slew of things would happen."
"But even if I do die while in battle, I trust that each of you will continue to finish the Mission for the sake of the many victims of this horrible incident. You don't stop moving just because your teammates are dead. On the contrary, you work even harder to prove that their demise wasn't in vain."
"Forget what they said about halting the entire operation because of one death. That's revoltingly upsetting to me. If that's the case, wars should be over in minutes. You can mourn the deaths of your comrades after you've won the war."
"And if I see you are crying on the battlefield, I'll rise from the dead to drag you back with me," I threatened, hopefully trying to get my point across.
Everyone was silent when I blurted out that statement. Those who had experience on the battlefield would understand where I was coming from. As painful as it sounded, it was the truth when fighting on ground zero.
"I understand, Lady Lizzie. But when we've finished defeating the targets, what's the plan from there? Do we go straight to fighting Fabian Brookes?" asked Duncan.
I haven't figured out how to defeat the guy just yet because I wanted him to answer some questions about this whole thing. From recruiting the Mages and 'capturing' Vincent Midford... There were so many things that I needed to know.
"We aren't going in without a plan. First, I need everyone to corner FB to ask him a few questions. If he doesn't comply, then the ones with enough power will go up against and subdue Fabian once and for all. I don't care how you'd do it, finish the job."
"It's a high possibility that Fabian might have an army of dolls ready to fight us, so part of the group has to deal with them while the rest focuses on Fabian. For the details, I'll you know after I've soothed the beast," I answered, trying to formulate a quick plan.
The group seemed to go with the plan while we packed up to continue our journey. As we walked through the tunnels, I couldn't help but ask Duncan about his powers. Thinking back to the fight, I could've sworn that Duncan nearly became the Grim Reaper had I not stopped him.
The boy's Elemental Aura was astonishingly powerful, but I feel that he was using someone else's powers. It's not too bad, but there would be some conflict if two souls sharing one body.
"Duncan... Since you are still a child, do you have full control of your powers? I understand that you had only awakened your powers barely half a year ago," I asked, initiating the conversation.
"I wouldn't say I've got complete control since my Blood Mastery isn't up to par with what Mavislin expects me to do, but I've got a good grip on powers compared to my friends. So while everyone was busy trying to get in tune with their powers, the Reaper and I were planning the next step."
"Also, the spirit inside me is an enjoyable person despite being the Grim Reaper, so that I wouldn't cast him out for anything. At first, I thought he was some madman, but I got to know him better after a while. The Reaper is a nice person who cheered me up when I kept losing to Mother Mavis."
"A Grim Reaper is in you?"
"Correct, I knew he was around in my head for some time before the Arks found us. But the only time I could communicate with him was during our first days of training to showcase our powers to the Arks. After that, whenever I use him with more power, I slowly turn into him."
"Of course, that isn't too much of a bad thing. I do like the Grim Reaper's outfit, and his scythe is fantastic to use for me, but sometimes it freaks people out. But then again, everyone freaks out when I am around them..." complained Duncan, slowly having crippling depression.
Poor boy... But while on the subject of the Grim Reaper, I searched in my memory files about the novel talking about the Five Orphans Training. Duncan was the only one to have used the Ankou's true powers during the duels against some senior Mages and won.
"Are you scared of me... Lady Lizzie? For having such horrible powers?" asked the young child, lowering his gaze to the ground.
