Reincarnated as a Cookie

"Wow! What a beautiful butterfly!" Spotting a butterfly, Nikkie chased after it. She was hanging out at the school rooftop during lunch break as it was the most peaceful spot in the whole school. As she chased after the colourful butterfly, she did not realise that she was nearing the edge of the rooftop.

"Ahhhhh!" Just as Nikkie took another step forward, she realised that there was no ground. Unable to stop herself, she fell off the school rooftop, flailing her arms to reduce the momentum and fall slower to no avail. What a dumb way to die! And I'm only 16! I can't die so young! Nikkie thought as darkness surrounded her.

After hours of being in total darkness, not being able to move or see anything, Nikkie almost went insane when she finally saw someone.

"Hello Nikkie. I am going to give you another chance at life as a random object. Good luck!" The glowing white lady said.

"Wait!" Before Nikkie could say what she wanted to say, she was sent down a spiral of some sort, zooming away at an extremely high speed as she lost consciousness.

"The cookies are ready!" Nikkie vaguely heard someone say as she regained consciousness. Opening her eyes, she tried to move her arms, only to find that she could not feel her arms. Let's try my legs! I can't feel my legs either! Nikkie was panicking inwardly. Cursing that butterfly for distracting her and causing her death, she recalled what that woman said about her being reincarnated as a random object?

Trying to look down, she realised that she could not bend, but could see everything around her. The baking tray below her, the cookies lying beside her, wait, what? Oh. My. God. Was she a cookie? No way. She became her favourite snack? She faintly remembered herself thinking about not being able to eat cookies again before losing consciousness. That must be why she was reincarnated as a cookie! Damn you Nikkie! Out of all the things you can think about, you think about a cookie? Wait, am I going to be eaten up? Noooooooooooo!

Even though Nikkie seems quite dumb so far, she is actually quite smart. Thinking about all the ways she could escape, if she even had a brain to think with, she decided that the first thing she needed to do was learn how to move as a cookie. She could not waste anymore time, or she might actually be eaten up! How to move? How to move?

Nikkie heard a woman's voice in her head, seemingly knowing that the voice belongs to that glowing lady she saw. Damn you! Stupid lady! But, a chance to get a human body! Nikkie really wanted her body back...

Using the lady's advice, Nikkie used all her strength to get on her side, and succeeded before falling back down on another cookie. The fellow cookie won't mind her on him, will he? I mean, it's not like that cookie was alive like her, right? Luckily, there were no humans in the room currently, or else they will be scared to death by Nikkie the cookie who could do a flip on the table by herself. That attempt used up quite a lot of Nikkie's energy and she had to rest for a bit before trying again. Come on Nikkie, you can do it!

Trying again, she managed to steady herself on her side before rolling off the table. Nikkie shut her eyes tightly. So high, so high! She hadn't gotten over the trauma of falling off the school rooftop, and now she was forced to fall off the high table. Well, to Nikkie it seems high due to her being so small now.

The glowing lady from previously was sipping a cup of tea while looking at Nikkie fall from the table, eyes squeezed shut, with amusement. Why didn't she think of this earlier?

"Plak!" As Nikkie hit the floor, she felt a jolt of pain as she fell flat on her face. Wincing in pain, she prayed hard that no one heard her. Whew! Looks like her prayer was answered.

"Thump! Thump!" Suddenly, Nikkie heard someone's footsteps coming her way. Okay, maybe her prayers were not answered. Sweat covered her forehead. Wait, did she even have a forehead now? "Thump! Thump!"

"Strange, I thought I heard something. Wait, one of the cookies are missing! Never mind, must be some bird. Speaking of which, its time for the kids to eat the cookies now!" Nikkie heard a female voice say. Please don't notice me. Please don't notice me!

"Thump! Thump!" When Nikkie heard the sound of the footsteps getting fainter and fainter, she heaved a sigh of relief. The danger is gone. Standing back on her side again, she rolled towards the front door and slid under the door to get to the other side. Not bad! Not bad if I should say so myself. I've only been here as a cookie for ten minutes and I can already roll so well! No need to praise me, I will feel embarrassed. Now, where should I go? Nikkie had to admit, that lady didn't leave her with absolutely no way out. The house was in a rural area, and not many people pass by this area, so no one saw her slide her way out of the house.

Grinning to herself, Nikkie rolled into the grass to hide from any humans coming to this place. It's better to be safe than sorry. She managed to escape. She actually managed to escape! Making sure she was well hidden behind a rock, Nikkie finally relaxed and let her small cookie body lean on the rock. I feel like I just ran a marathon, but I've never run a marathon before, how would I know how it feels like? Anyways, to sum it up, Nikkie felt super exhausted from all that rolling, and very dizzy too. Closing her eyes, she could finally take a rest.
