Three

Brian's message came through at work, which meant Regan had to be up and meeting him there ten minutes ago.

She managed to make it in time, sitting in the passenger's seat of her brother's car. She'd been told not to worry about her own until later, they'd go back for it.

Brian's phone started to ring and he signaled for Regan to keep quiet. Only seconds passed before Brian dropped his phone and sped up.

"Sure thing, dad." Was all he said. Regan smiled as they ran a red light.

Rae turned around in her seat, taking in the sight of the warehouse around her. The blonde pair both took note of Dom's position before turning back to Campos and the rest of his crew.

"What now?" Rae asked as the two men beside Campos began to look at the cars. The beeping coming from the center console proved a problem for the siblings.

Rae stayed looking straight ahead as Brian struggled with the tracker.

"Facial expressions." Rae whispered as Brian finally dropped the damn thing in his can. "Thank god you're a pig."

"Shut up." Brian simply replied.

Brian pulled up, parking the car in the truck as he had been told. It wasn't long before Rae curled up in the passenger's seat. She was glad she'd opted for leggings today as she slipped her glasses off, her blue-green eyes closing.

Brian looked over at her as the truck stopped. She wasn't really missing anything and she wasn't the one doing the job. He decided to let the poor girl sleep.

She didn't sleep for long, jumping away when Brian closed the door.

"What's going on?" She asked, groggily.

"We're in Mexico." Brian answered. "Let's do this."

Regan yawned as she slipped her glasses back on her face.

"Linked up engaged." Regan heard Gisele say. "Keep proceeding north bound at current speed."

It was dark out as Brian followed his orders.

"Stay close to Felix." Gisele ordered. "He'll lead you across."

"Did I miss anything?" Rae asked.

Brian shook his head. "You feeling any better?"

"What?" Rae asked.

"Hurry it up- you guys have been tagged." Gisele's voice sounded.

"You took your glasses off, which means you planned to fall asleep. Headache?" Brian asked her as he sped up.

"Yeah." Rae answered. "Slight headache."

Brian looked over at Regan as he followed the line through a tunnel.

"What the hell?" She asked.

"They're sending a helicopter." Gisele's voice warned. "You have thirty seconds."

"Brian?" Regan asked.

"The window's closing fast. You need to get out of there before they send ground support." Gisele warned.

"Brian."

"Fifteen seconds."

"Bri-"

"You're running out of time. You need to get out now!"

"Brian!"

Regan's body relaxed as she let herself hit the seat. They'd made it out, but that was the most stressful thing she'd ever felt. How the hell did he keep his cool? Regan stayed still, a sorry attempt to catch her breath as the car finally came to a stop.

"Sloppy!" Felix yelled. "Very sloppy."

Brian looked past Regan over to Dom. He looked to Regan before nodding, signaling her out of the car. She opened the door, sliding out gracefully before standing. She could hear someone bitching and the sound of Felix pulling his gun out.

"Hey, boss man." Dom called to Felix.

"What did you say?" Felix asked.

"I said 'only pussies run nitro meth'." Dom said. Regan looked up at Brian.

"You looked under my hood?" Felix asked Dom.

It was adding up, stacking even, in Regan's head. Felix killed Letty. Something was off with Campos.

"I'm talkin' to you." Felix told Dom. "Got somethin' on your mind."

"Seventy Plymouth." Dom replied. "Her name was Letty. Somebody wrecked her car."

"I wrecked her car." Felix admitted. Brian grabbed Regan's arm, pulling her behind him.

"You remember her face?" Felix taunted. "Because I don't. The last time I saw it, it was burning." Felix cocked his gun. "Now what?"

"I'm going to enjoy what happens next." Dom replied.

"Nos." Regan whispered to Brian. Her warning wasn't fast enough. Dom's car went up in flames, followed by the rest that were lined up. Brian held onto Regan by her waist as they were blown back.

They tumbled and rolled away from each other, Brian finding a gun to help Dom. Brian got up, jumping into the only car left.

"Dom, get in!" Brian yelled. "Get in- come on! Come on, get in the goddamn car and let's go! Hurry up!"

"Regan!" Dom called.

Regan scrambled off the dirt, pulling the back door open and climbing in. She held onto the seta as they jolted around.

"That was exhilarating." Regan commented.

"Not now, Rae." Brian mumbled as the unlikely trio drove on.

They parked under an overpass, Brian needing to make a phone call as Regan followed Dom to the back of the car. She watched as he lifted the trunks out of the back of the car. She had offered to help, but Dom just raised an eyebrow at the girl. He was bleeding all over the place, but only cared about the trunks in front of them.

"So, this is what 60 million dollars looks like." Dom commented.

"Holy shit." Regan mumbled.

"Yeah, we gotta get you to the doctor." Brian told him.

"We gotta find a place to hide this." Dom replied.

"And you." Rae added.

"I got a spot." Brian told Dom.

Brian flashed his badge. "Five O Two reckless. I need a 48-hour hold."

"Out back. Any spot you can find."

Brian parked the car and the three climbed out.

"You sure about this?" Dom asked Brian.

"Yeah." He answered. "The last place they'll check: their own impound yard. Trust me."

The three walked away from the car.

"You know, I've been thinking. When you blew up your car back there, you blew up mine too." Brian said.

"Yeah." Dom replied.

"Yeah. So, now you owe me a ten second car."

Regan laughed and shook her head at her brother.

"Is that right?" Dom asked Brian.

"Yeah." Bri replied with a shit eating grin on his face.

"I can't with you sometimes." Regan shook her head.

The siblings followed Dom through the lot and watched as his elbow went through a window.

"Now we're even." He told Brian.

There was a knock at the door. They'd been doing well at laying low, or so Regan thought.

"Is this your way of keeping me away from him?" A female voice asked.

"I assume that's Mia?" Rae asked Dom.

"You assume correctly." He replied.

"You're the only one I could call." Brian told her.

"He's my brother. Of course." Mia replied.

Mia took a look at his wound, announcing the bullet wasn't in there.

"Gonna clean it and stitch it up." She told Dom. "It's gonna hurt."

"I bet you're gonna enjoy this." Dom replied.

"A little." Mia told him. Rae smiled.

"You should get shot." She told Brian. Brian flipped her off.

They sat at the little table, Chinese take-out in front of them. Dom scooped noodles onto his plate.

"Dom, what are you doing?" Mia asked. "You reached first. You have to say grace."

Regan tilted her head at Brian. This wasn't something Rae had grown up with, Brian either. While he wasn't fazed, she had been. She folded her hands as the others had as Dom spoke.

"Thank you, Lord for blessing this table."

"And food and family and friendship." Mia added. "Old and new." Her eyes met Rae's at the end.

When they finished, Dom went off alone, leaving the rest at the table.

"You asked me why I let Dom go." Brian started. "I think it's because at that moment...I respected him more than I did myself. One thing I learned from Dom is that nothing really matters unless you have a code."

"What's your code, Brian?" Mia asked.

"I'm working on it." Brian answered. Rae's hand flew up to smack his arm. Mia smiled at her.

Brian's phone began to ring on the table. He didn't answer, turning to face Dom.

"Hey, Dom." He said, standing.

"When were you going to tell me?" Dom asked. "When were you going to tell me you were runnin' Letty?" Dom asked.

"What?" Regan asked.

Dom grabbed Brian, throwing him into the shelves. He picked him up, holding him by the throat.

"Dom, stop." Mia tried. Regan backed into the corner.

Mia kept yelling at him as Brian tried to break free. Brian failed, being thrown to the floor again. Mia kept yelling as Dom continued to hit Brian. Regan couldn't get any further from the situation. Rae watched as Brian locked his legs around Dom's head, making Dom lift him before dropping him on his back.

"She did it for you, Dom!" Brian yelled. "She did it for you. Letty came to me to clear your name in exchange for bringing down Braga. She just wanted you to come home!"

Rae attempted to catcher her breath as Brian apologized. She pulled herself away from the corner, grabbing her brother to help him off the damn floor.
