Chapter 1CHAPTER ONE: SEE

"It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see" ~~~ Anonymous

Gravill questioned with the little courage he had mustered, "Who are you and what do you want from me?"

The creature laughed before changing into a man with blond hair. "I am the one sent to end your life, half-blood," the man opened his mouth, which became very wide, ready to attack.

Fear-ridden and unsure of what to do, Gravill started running, only to wake up and discover it was just a dream.

Breathing heavily on his bed with sweat dripping from his body like he had just run a marathon, he looked around to confirm whether what he saw was a dream or reality.

"It felt so real," he spoke to no one in particular. He checked the bedside clock and realized it was already time for school.

While lost in his thoughts, he heard his mom's voice from downstairs.

"Gravill, get up, it's time for school. You don't want to be late on your first day, right?" Kylie's voice cut through the morning stillness as she called out from the kitchen.

"Morning, Ma. I'll be down soon," Gravill replied groggily, his words muffled from beneath his cozy comforter.

After a few minutes, Gravill emerged from his bedroom, his school uniform crisp and pristine. He made his way to the dining table, greeted by the aroma of freshly made breakfast.

"You look so cute in your uniform, my baby boy," Kylie said, planting a gentle kiss on his cheek. Gravill blushed and squirmed with embarrassment.

"Ma, come on. I'm not a little kid anymore," Gravill protested, though a small smile tugged at the corners of his mouth.

Kylie chuckled, unfazed by her son's protests. They chatted amicably over breakfast, the familiar banter easing any lingering nervousness about the first day of school.

As they finished their meal, Kylie ushered Gravill into the car and began the short drive to his new school. She couldn't resist offering some last-minute advice.

"Make sure you make some friends today, okay? It'll make your time at school so much more enjoyable," Kylie urged, aware of her son's introverted nature.

"Hey, Gravill!" a voice called out, snapping him out of his thoughts.

Turning, he saw Nicholas, a classmate from his new school, approaching him with a welcoming smile.

"Oh, hey, Nicholas. I was just... thinking," Gravill trailed off, suddenly feeling self-conscious.

"Thinking about what, specifically?" Nicholas inquired, concern evident in his voice as he noticed Gravill's unease.

Gravill hesitated for a moment before deciding to share his thoughts with Nicholas.

"I was thinking, what if there are other creatures living on this planet together with us?" Gravill voiced out.

"Other creatures?" Nicholas inquired.

"Yes, other creatures," Gravill affirmed.

"You mean like beasts, vampires, witches, and werewolves?" Nicholas pointed out.

"Yes, like those supernatural beings we all watch in movies, even gods too," Gravill spoke.

Hope you enjoy this, and Thanks for reading ^_^ P.S: When I started this book I had zero writing experience, so the first chapters aren't that great, although, my writing quality has improved over time. Also, English isn't my first language, so there are some instances where my choice of words are not good enough for what I'm trying to portray. A heads up, the book will be using a medieval setting. My world building is not the best, but it gets better over time, so bear with me on the early chapters! P.S: Cover art not mine I just edited it. GlaringError here! As I have already mentioned in my author review I am restating it here since I am getting tons of comments about it, that I am more of a reader myself than a writer, I made this novel in an attempt to capture my fantasy world residing in my mind into words.. Writing is new for me.. The premise of my novel is inspired by many great works that I have loved over the years. And some elements I have in my novel that are slightly similar to them but it's just the skeleton of it, the real meat of the plot is entirely my own cooking. Some of the influence that is more noticeable is from The Runesmith (By Kuropon), The King's Avatar (By Butterfly Blue) and Shadow Slave (By Guiltythree). I have immense respect for these legends and I can only hope to follow in their footsteps. To all those who comment just by judging the name, at least give it a chance before letting your opinions be known. Thank you.
