Team Rocket

According to his parents, Team Rocket's main base was on Viridian City. Even though Paul already knew this, he confirmed the knowledge that he had from his past life. Mary and Joseph were able to directly join Team Rocket from its central headquarters due to a test. They mentioned that they partook in a recruit examination that lasted for a whole month. In that test, they were given the chance to pick their own Pokemon from a large span of pokeballs. This means that they wouldn't know the Pokemon they would choose, just like a raffle.

There, Mary was able to get her Gengar, and Joseph was able to get his Crobat. Both Pokemon were just a Gastly and Zubat before, correspondingly. To be honest, they were both lucky as they got a good aptitude Pokemon from the lot, as they don't know anything about the existence of a Pokemon's potential. As of now, most trainers currently think that some pokemon in a species are just meant for training compared to others. Speaking of potential, the Team Rocket stated that the Pokemons that they let them choose from are all freshly captured from the wild. This implies that a recruit's pokemon's potential are all left to chance, if one has bad luck, they could get a pokemon with a Red potential.

After picking their own Pokemons, Team Rocket left all 500 recruits in a remote island. Their goal is to survive and grow stronger for the competition that would be held a month later. The place they would spawn to would be randomized, as they would be teleported into the island by Psychic Pokemons from the ship they rode on the lake near Viridian City.

Also, there was another challenge in the survival island; defeating another recruit would give you points. These points could be used the moment you survived form the island and competed in the first competition. It could be used to purchase different resources that would strengthen your Pokemon or learn a new move. The first competition would also give points depending on your final ranking; thus, it is wise to get stronger during the month-long stay on the island. The points from defeating another recruit would give you the opportunity to spend points after the competition, thus earning more chances to have a higher ranking in the second competition. This second competition would be held a month after the first one, which would decide the final rewards and position a recruit would receive as they officially join Team Rocket. The higher the ranking, the higher the initial rank a recruit would have.

Gaining experience from having already trained a Pokemon, Mary and Joseph had a unique advantage from their competitors. They were able to properly train their Pokemon with the boon of having the unique experience in the wild due to the long stays in the Viridian Forest. Both of them were able to meet halfway, thus was able to help each other out during the last half of the month-long survival. Mary and Joseph were able to get the first and second rank on the first competition after the survival, respectively.

They received a lot of points, not mentioning the points they received from defeating other recruits on the island; thus, gave them a lot of chances on getting a higher rank on the final competition. Both of their Pokemon improved a lot during the month break, and more impressively, evolved. Not surprisingly, they also won the latter competition which would decide their initial ranks; Mary and Joseph finishing as first and second place correspondingly. Haunter, at that time, had the advantage of Ghost-type against Golbat's Poison-type.

It was an enduring time for the both of them. Luckily, they had each other, thus they weren't lost to the cruelty of Team Rocket. There were different positions on Team Rocket, on which operated the crime organization as a whole. From their experience, Team Rocket had the following positions:

- A leader who manages other operatives

- They supply other members with food and money in the field

- An operative who look for recruits for Team Rocket

There were four positions a recruit could get after the second competition; lowest is the Scout, followed by being Suppliers, next is being a Grunt, and finally is the position of an Agent. Naturally, those who were able to place in top ten was able to directly become an agent. As there were only around two hundred who survived on the island, the top eleven up to top fifty became grunts. The top fifty-one below up to top one hundred and fifty became suppliers, and those last fifty positions became scouts. On a positive note, you could be promoted sooner as new recruits could gain contributions faster a year after the recruitment. After this time period, the contributions would be back to normal and you could only stay on your current position, promoted, or not promoted, for quite a long period of time.

Mary and Joseph were promoted into Spies as their year of work as Agents were superb. They stayed in that position for five years until they were able to be promoted as Officers. Being Officers at the age of 16, the couple has quite a fame in Team Rocket. Mary's code name known as "Bloody-Eyes", and Joseph's code name as "Crimson-Hair". This was due to the way they operate, as Mary was very proficient at using Hypnosis on different missions, while Joseph's striking hair could always be seen as a blur when he rides on his Flying-type Pokemons. They stayed at the Officer position for 9 years before they were promoted into Elite Officers. This was the last position they climbed as they weren't interested in being promoted anymore and wanted to live a more peaceful life.

Over the years, Mary and Joseph officially became a couple at the age of 27. And at the age of 30, they officially became husband and wife. Right after the marriage, they went to meet up with their Boss, Giovanni, whom they were able to meet when they got promoted into Elite Officers. They volunteered to head and to investigate another region, in the name of helping promote Team Rocket in a global scale. Thus, they were able to go to another region; namely, the Hoenn Region. They were able to receive new identities known as Mary Crimson, and Joseph Crimson, as husband and wife who are immigrating from Kanto Region to Hoenn Region. Along with their identity, they were able to head 100 Team Rocket Grunts who were based on the Hoenn Region.

Thankfully, they both had each other during their whole experience as Team Rocket operatives. The couple held each other as anchor, to not get lost in the violence and wickedness of other operatives. They mostly involved themselves on field works with Pokemons, such as scouting and securing wild regions and finding more places for Team Rocket. On the position of Officers and Elite Officers, they were still made to manage on this particular part of Team Rocket, which they were thankful for. The bloodshed they experienced was kept to a minimum. When they personally acted, both still held unto their bottom line, thus was still able to keep their humanity and conscience.

Still, there were times that bloodshed was inevitable. At least, they had each other during these times. They also discovered that not all operatives were bloodthirsty. Mostly those in higher positions, such as Elite Officers and Executives, were the ones who still had conscience and also kept bloodshed to a bare minimum.

They took the opportunity of being in Hoenn Region to try and live a new life. They were able to, with the funds they earned throughout the years, start a breeding house. After a few years of peace, Paul was conceived. His existence changed everything as they became more and more distant to the operation of Team Rocket. Thankfully, Giovanni was able to understand as they were going to become parents, as he was a parent himself. Still, he let them to at least reconvene the Team Rocket Forces in Hoenn Region once a week. This was the reason to their weekly endeavor, mostly on the weekends.

Bit by bit, Paul was able to find the answers to his questions regarding his parents' disappearances and quirks.
