Chapter 237: Taillow Pokémon Eggs

In Rex's view, Ursaring had shown the most improvement in strength among the group. Not only had its physical attributes improved significantly, but it also learned the abilities Endure and Self-Reward.

Ursaring's progress was closely tied to its fearless personality. Every time it battled against Machoke, it fought with all its might until it was no longer able to continue.

Although the power gap between Ursaring and Machoke was considerable, Ursaring didn't harbor any fear. This led to it launching attacks on Machoke as long as it could still fight.

Ursaring's Endure ability was developed after enduring many of Machoke's Farmer's Triple Punches, which often inflicted status effects.

When Ursaring first learned Endure, the doubled attack power caught Machoke off guard a bit.

Because of this, Machoke began to see Ursaring in a new light. It saw in Ursaring a reflection of its younger self and therefore put even more effort into training Ursaring.

However, Exeggutor and Steenee didn't have the same determination for battling as Ursaring did. Although they also trained hard and made considerable progress, they didn't push themselves to the limit.

Fortunately, during this time, Exeggutor learned the move Uproar, and Steenee mastered Seed Bomb, so they hadn't fallen too far behind Ursaring.

Rex understood that each Pokémon had its own unique personality, so he didn't expect Exeggutor and Steenee to train as relentlessly as Ursaring did.

Overall, Rex was satisfied with the three of them. At least they weren't slacking off and were actively working to improve their strength.

Of course, Rex didn't relax his supervision of the other Pokémon either. Whenever he had time, he would check on their training.

While inspecting the orchard, Rex noticed something unusual: there seemed to be an abundance of Taillow Pokémon eggs. It was clear that with the farm's ample food supply, the Taillow were more enthusiastic about breeding the next generation.

After roughly counting, Rex found that there were over 40 Taillow eggs. This meant that once these eggs hatched, the Taillow population would increase by over 40.

Although Rex hadn't restricted the Taillow from leaving, the living conditions on his farm were far better than in the wild. As a result, fewer Taillow left than joined. With the constant hatching of new Taillow, their population was steadily growing.

This made Rex realize that he needed to take some control measures; otherwise, one day, he wouldn't be able to afford to feed all these Taillow.

Since it was impossible to prevent Swellow and Taillow from laying eggs, the only solution Rex could think of was to sell some of the Taillow eggs.

This would not only help control the Taillow population but also bring in a significant profit, potentially becoming another main source of income for the farm.

However, Rex would need to go to Fallarbor Town and discuss the details with Officer Jenny. Selling Pokémon eggs in large quantities required a Pokémon Breeding License, which was different from casual transactions.

As for how to obtain such a license, Rex didn't have much knowledge on the subject and needed to consult a professional.

While Taillow might be a common bird Pokémon in the northern regions with a large population, it was still a suitable starter Pokémon for aspiring trainers.

Only a few fortunate kids from ordinary families could receive one of the three starter Pokémon, while the rest often had to spend a fortune buying Pokémon eggs from breeders or venture into the wild to catch weak Bug-type Pokémon, becoming Bug Catchers.

Capturing a Taillow in the wild without the help of another Pokémon was incredibly difficult.

Although Taillow might seem simple, their attack power wasn't weak. In danger, they could fly away to avoid threats, and wild Taillow usually lived in flocks.

After thinking this through, Rex rode on Swellow to Fallarbor Town to find Officer Jenny and inquire about the situation.

Upon arriving at the police station, Rex found Officer Jenny in the backyard, training her Arcanine. As a symbol of justice and loyalty, Arcanine was a staple of the Jenny family.

The Jenny family had a well-established training program for Arcanine, ensuring steady improvement. Of course, some Jennys would train Arcanine in their own way, but most followed the established methods for faster results.

Occasionally, a particularly talented Jenny would develop a more effective training method. The family would then test this method to see if it could be applied universally. If successful, it would be added to the family's Arcanine training regimen.

It was through this generational accumulation of knowledge that the Jenny family had come to dominate the police system across the region.

The Jenny family wasn't unique in this regard; many large families in this world specialized in certain types of Pokémon, continuously refining their training methods to help family members grow stronger faster.

Ordinary citizens couldn't compete with these well-established families. For instance, the Dragon Clan in Kanto specialized in Dragon-type Pokémon, with each generation producing top-tier trainers who controlled many of Kanto's resources.

"Oh, Rex, what brings you here today?" Officer Jenny asked curiously when she saw him.

Having gotten to know Rex, Officer Jenny knew he preferred to stay on his farm and only ventured out when necessary.

In response, Rex explained his desire to sell some Taillow eggs and shared the details with her.

"That's a great idea! Even in Fallarbor Town, many kids struggle to get their ideal starter Pokémon, and Taillow is a perfect choice for new trainers," Officer Jenny said after hearing Rex's plan.

As for Rex's concern about the Alliance's restrictions on selling large quantities of Pokémon eggs, Officer Jenny wasn't too worried. She could help Rex apply for a Breeding License from the Alliance.

The Alliance had imposed these restrictions to prevent people from raiding wild Pokémon nests and stealing their eggs.

Before this rule was established, some towns suffered massive losses because people stole Pokémon eggs, leading to retaliation from the Pokémon.

However, Officer Jenny knew Rex well and was aware of the source of his Taillow eggs. Given that Rex had helped her before, she was willing to take care of the matter for him.

Rex was very grateful for Officer Jenny's assistance. In both his past and present life, obtaining a license for such specialized industries wasn't easy.

Only because of the Jenny family's standing within the Pokémon Alliance could the process be handled so smoothly. If Rex had to apply on his own, the review would likely take a long time, and even then, there was no guarantee of success.
