Chapter 9

What Jane wanted was to get money and survive, while making justice at night. Speaking which was exactly where she was headed. Jane went to go see Dato, he was asleep in his box. She waited for him to wake up to talk to him. "Finally you're awake," Jane's voice changer was activated. "Watching someone sleep is creepy," Dato stated still half asleep. "Who else?" Jane had done some research and found out the twelve year old wasn't his only victim. "Who else what?" Dato played dumb. "You sick bastard." "Oh that, I don't remember. I get too drunk to remember," he told her. She punched the glass and he jumped back. "I only remember three, including that girl," he admitted, visibly shaken. He looked like he was going to pee himself, in fact he did, Jane decided to bring him some pants. She wasn't inhumane after all. She opened the door and threw the pants in the box, closed the door and left.

Jane was finally able to get some time to herself as she walked down the street. However she couldn't release her mind from the problems. Her joining a band, figuring out how to earn money. She also had to question what she should do with Dato, let me go or keep him prisoner. Jane wanted to change the living situation of the kids she was living with but she knew it would have to be slow enough for Frank not to notice. Of course one of the problems she was thinking about was the fact that Jess had already forgotten about her. That family was moving on, and she had to too. Something about the thought of it hurt Jane, although she would never admit it.

As she was walking she recognized someone, and another problem showed up. At this point in time this problem could solve another of hers. "Aren't you glad to see me?" A man in a suit with a top hat asked. It was him, Jane's fighting manager, or so that's what he called himself. "Never." "You're not going to believe what I found," he said, ignoring her remark. "You mean the only reason you ever come looking for me, David? I have a pretty good guess," She stated. "Come on, I do get us good money." "More like you get me the job and I get us the money." "Either way I found one," he said knowing that she would agree to it. "We'll talk later then," Jane needed the money. "Good, same phone number?" After she nodded, he walked away. She had one problem solved but she knew that there was going to be trouble from it.

Jane had returned to her current foster house. Her foster father wouldn't be home until later that afternoon. She was told that he worked almost all day and drank until he passed out. Then the following morning he would head to work. His life was miserable, and he took it out on the foster kids. Jane took advantage of this to get some much needed sleep. It had been some time since she caught up on some rest and her body was telling her. After a few hours she was awoken by a rumbling, she woke up to the house shaking. After a few seconds it stopped, Jane knew that earthquakes weren't natural in the state she was in.

Suddenly her phone rang, it was David. She answered and heard, "hey, it's David. Listen, there's a fight tonight. Think you can make it?." Jane was puzzled as to him not bringing up the earthquake so she asked. "Did you not get the earthquake or something?" "What? What are you talking about? Are you high?" David asked. "No, never mind. Yeah, I'll make it just text me the details." Jane decided not to say anything. "Alright, come prepared to make a comeback. People won't be expecting it," he told her then hung up.

Jane started questioning if what she had experienced was even real. She began to think she might need to withdraw from the drugs faster or maybe she was withdrawing too fast. Either way it was time for another pill. After she took the pill she began to remember the last time she talked to him. Evan and her had fought over the man's innocence. She understood why Evan felt that way. There was no evidence and the court let him go, but she had a gut feeling he was guilty and she was right. Jane almost always followed her instincts and when she didn't things would end up worse then she hoped. That was until she stopped hoping and kept following her instincts. She was still because she trusted her instincts and only that. So that's what she'll keep doing, she'll trust the only thing she could, her instincts.

Later that night Jane met up with David and headed to the location. "It recently opened and the bets are so high," David told her. "You have a knack for finding places like these." "Comes in handy," he told her. "Same deal as before?" She asked although she knew the answer."Yep," he responded. "Good."

They soon arrived at the warehouse, when they walked in it was empty however David led Jane to a specific corner of the warehouse. He finds the door located on the floor and lifts it open. Jane hops in ignoring the latter and landing not too far down. "Of course," David whispered as he climbed down and closed the door. They both knew the drill so went straight to it. The spectators were yelling and screaming, some out of anger and frustration while others cheered. There were matches a few before Jane's so she had some prep time. However when it was her turn she was still a bit nervous. She had no choice but to push that feeling down, suppress it like always.

Jane was in the cage, or what they call a fighting ring, against a man. He seemed to be in his early twenties. When the fight began he was the one on the offense, while she was defending herself. It seemed as if he was in control of the match. However, this was part of Jane's tactic. She allowed her opponent to use his offensive fighting first, for multiple reasons. She wanted to learn his fighting tactics so she could have the advantage when counter-attacking. She also wanted him to use more of his stamina and would have a harder time defending. Whenever he lunged at her she would wait to the near last second to dodge his attack, she would even push him onto the cage. She was trying to exhaust him enough for her to be able to defeat him in a few hits. The crowd was getting tired of the same thing and were getting bored. They began to all get angry.

That was a cue for Jane, began to counter attack him. The crowd was excited again, cheering and clapping. Then chanted her code name, 'Geo'. He didn't have the strength to fight her off for very long. So when she managed to get him in a headlock he didn't have enough strength to escape and ended up passing out. Which meant Jane had won the fight, the crowd cheered.

Once David and Jane left David gave Jane her cut, then parted ways. On the way to her current house Jane noted that she needed to workout again. She had recently stopped ever since she started wearing the hood. She also noted that she needed to go back out with her hood. Jane would now use the time where she would usually go to school to workout and train. However, right now what she wanted to do is give her foster siblings a decent meal. She stopped by a fast food place, after she had her food and left the ground began to shake for a few seconds then stopped. Jane began to question if it was actually a hallucination or reality. However there was no one in sight to confirm or deny her suspicions. So instead she just kept walking, even though she knew this would be eating at her.

Later that night she gave the children, including Kelly, the food she had bought for them in their room, trying not to make noise to prevent Frank from coming in and catching them. The kids quietly thanked her and ate, Kelly gave her a small smile.
