05 | Something's Wrong

The class ended when the sun was about to set. It was somehow a bit later than usual but Cain didn't think much about it. It was a different world after all, not the same as where he was from.

Cain bid Rain goodbye and followed the instructions of Lily.

The location of his 'home' in this world was not that far and it was more than okay to just walk. According to the GPS in the phone he found in the backpack of his current body, his house was only behind a nearby park.

He turned towards the entrance of the park and after making sure there was an exit near his house, he entered the deserted and silent park.

There were lamps that burned rather brightly and they were close to each other so despite the sun setting, Cain didn't have the problem of being caught by the dark.

In his head, he converse with Lily to pass the time.

[ Host, I think the best course of action to take is to seduce your man. ] Lily commented sincerely, it's light with a mechanical touch voice echoing inside Cain's head.

He only heard Lily's voice earlier and was still surprised with how good it sounds. It was feminine, high pitched yet soft and gentle. The mechanical touch however, dispersed some of the gentleness and gave it a more ascetic vibe.

They were talking about what Cain needs to do next. Cain has always been indecisive and weak when it comes to matters concerning Rain. It was like his IQ drops with even just the mere mention of the other's name.

He frowned, "I feel like something is going to go wrong if I do that."

It was intuition. Cain for some reason felt like if he actually tried to seduce Rain, something would go wrong and he'll end up being hated.

Well hated is such a strong word but still, Cain has this feeling that if he ever expresses his feelings, especially in this world, Rain would reconsider their friendship.

Cain felt scared with that thought.

[ But this is why we're here, no? Host should not hesitate. This is not your real world. ]

Still, Cain couldn't do it for the time being.

Expressing the feelings he denied yet treasured so much in secret, is it that easy? Cain, who never felt confident enough when it comes to Ren, express his feelings?

No thanks. Cain thought bitterly. I'd rather not.

Lily saw the thoughts in his heart and sighed. [ But Host, even if you get rejected, the other person will forget about it. ]

"Yeah, I know. What happens in this world, stays in this world. " He also signed. "But it's still scary. He is my first love, Lily. It's not easy. ]

Lily was silent. It couldn't understand Cain's emotions and feelings and only understands affection and love, but outside of those feelings, it was clueless.

After another ten minutes, Cain finally saw the exit of this small park and sighed in relief. He was getting tired from walking with the massive weight of his backpack.

The exit was brightly lit and there was a guard post by the gates.

As he was walking eagerly, something cold and sticky caught his wrist. The suddenly icy feeling on his skin startled Cain but before he could even form a single thought, he was dragged to a corner with large bushes and trees.

It was a dark corner. Just from looking at it earlier made Cain shiver.

Cain fell to the ground after being tossed. The ground beneath him was filled with debris of broken hollow blocks. They were sharp and his arms were grazed red.

He frowned from the sharp pain but didn't react more. He looked up from his position and saw nothing but tall silhouettes of trees.

He quickly stood up and calmly shrugged off the dust from his clothes.

"What the hell was that?" He immediately questioned Lily, in his heart, a small seed of dissatisfaction was planted.

When Cain is in a good mood, he usually talks faster and his eyes will always have this kind of light that people could never look away from. However, without that light, Cain would always look sickly and ominous. Like a monster under a human skin, his eyes which were too dark would look out of place in his lovely face.

His appearance was very beautiful, unlike Rain's aggressiveness and sharp handsome features, Cain's leaned more on the androgynous side. In a certain angle, he was like a Greek prince who held the world in his hand, and if he turned to another angle, his features became feminine enough to be mistaken as a girl. Before, he had even dressed as a girl for a variety show and fooled even the other Tempest members.

His face was small and his ink black hair contrasted very beautifully to his snow white skin. His eyes were a shade of dark brown that looked black from afar but turned golden when exposed to light.

Now, he was much younger. His black hair covered his forehead with the tips making a curtain over his dark eyes. He narrowed his eyes in the air.

"That wasn't a human." He glanced around him and fear crept up to his spine. He was still calm though and none of his feelings showed on his face.

Although it was so fast, Cain clearly saw that the hand that caught him was not a hand at all. But more like a claw. He also saw it before he was thrown. It was a tall, slender thing that was all skin.

Thinking about it, Cain shivered..

He was an idol who had dealt with millions of people. He was aware of his advantages and could calmly control everything around him. Humans were creatures that could be killed with a knife and a gun, a simple bullet straight to the brain. Cain never feared those he could kill.

A supernatural creature was different.

Things like those were scary for him. Even from before, he seldom watches horror because they scare the living shit out of him.

What he saw earlier was definitely not human. It was two times taller than him and was like a sack of skin in a hanger.

It scared him to the point of no return.

He immediately went back to the road and ran towards the exit.

[ I'm sorry Host but something seems to be wrong in the headquarters. ] Lily said after Cain exited the park. In its mechanical tone, there was a discernible panic that leaked out.

Cain set aside his dissatisfaction. "What do you mean?"

[ I'm sorry Host, I cannot tell you. But there really is something wrong in the headquarters. ]

"Then are we going back?" Cain asked.

[ Right now, the main system is down. We can still stay here since leaving is not an option. ]

In the distance, Cain saw a large apartment building. That's where his home is for the time being.

"What do you mean not an option?"

Lily hesitated for a bit but still explained to avoid being hated on. [ Something happened that needed them to shut down all teleportation hubs. The main system is shut down too so no other system like me could connect to them. ]

Cain asked, a little worried. "Are we stuck here?"

[ No, but we can't leave for the time being. ]

The two then went silent. Cain looked through his phone and found his address on the food delivery apps. He went to the building and climbed to his floor. He looked through the apartment numbers before finding his.

He got the key card from his bag and swiped the door open. But before he could step inside, he suddenly remembered..

Lily didn't answer him on what the hell the thing from earlier was.
