Training Naruto

Today at the training ground, Ryo was accompanied by someone who was pestering him to learn a new ninjutsu. Of course, that someone was none other than Naruto.

"Alright, alright. Let's start with the basics," Naruto bounced around, running through the area. "Come on, sit down, I'll show you the basic hand seals first." As Naruto sat down on the ground, Ryo began to demonstrate the sequence of hand seals for the jutsu.

"It's not complicated, especially being a low-rank jutsu, but since you can use wind release, you'll be able to use this quite effectively for a while." He then repeated the seals more quickly, looking towards a tree with a target in the middle.

"Wind release; Wind Shuriken!" And then three wind shurikens appeared, attracting more air around them to form the shape of three shurikens that were launched at high speed towards the target, hitting it squarely.

"Wow! That was cool, my turn now!" Naruto jumped up from the ground, starting to perform the hand seals, but unsuccessfully at first. Ryo stood beside Naruto, giving him some tips. After half an hour of practice, Naruto managed to create the wind shurikens. Five shurikens appeared in front of him and were then thrown at the tree. Some missed while others hit.

"See, see?! That was so cool, dattebayo!" Ryo nodded, then added, "Yes, you learned quickly. So keep training this to eventually be able to do it without hand seals, or at least reduce the number to one seal." Naruto then asked, "Huh?! Is that possible?"

Ryo then looked back at the tree and, with a single seal, three shurikens appeared again, which were once again fired. "With fewer seals, the jutsu may or may not be weaker. In my case, the quantity is still limited to just three. But it's still a good card up your sleeve. So, keep up your training!"

After some time, Ryo continued training with Naruto there. They spent the day together, changing the type of training, at least Ryo did, since Naruto was determined to reduce the seals to zero, but clearly hadn't achieved that goal that day.

In the following days, Ryo had a busy schedule. He continued attending classes to learn surgery techniques and more about the human body, as Kentou had requested, and also continued to train diligently as always. His body, despite still being young, was already very well-trained.

He wanted to increase the intensity of his physical training, but wouldn't do so until he aged a bit more, as it could interfere with his growth and other things as well.

A few more days passed, and now Ryo was in the final stage of his classes at the hospital. He had become accustomed to being constantly around bodies, and even dissecting them for study and analysis. In a few days, he would assist a group of hospital doctors in performing a real surgery, something simple, but still a surgery. They would be removing a small tumor from a civilian's leg.

In the meantime, Ryo had also trained his control over the coins, now managing to have a range of 500 meters around him, using 5 waves of scans. Ryo could easily use this now, but could also increase the range to 700 meters by adding two more waves, although he wouldn't do so unless absolutely necessary, as the mental cost was quite high.

Ryo could now also maintain the form of the golden katana for almost 30 minutes, keeping it rigid and resistant throughout the entire duration. This consumed a good amount of chakra, but chakra was another thing he hadn't stopped training, and his reserves were constantly increasing. Ryo imagined that he already had enough chakra to be a chunin, if not close to one.

"Another year is almost over. But this year I achieved more results. I'm stronger," Ryo recalled scenes of himself unable to do anything against Itachi. He then clenched his fist, and a golden light appeared, forming a katana in his hand. Ryo swung the sword to the side, aiming at the tree.

The tree was cleanly cut in half, and then began to fall towards Ryo, who remained still. The golden katana changed shape in front of him, transforming into a small pyramid around Ryo, with four lines forming a triangle around him, shielding him.

As the tree fell, it was split into several pieces again, the gold protect Ryo from the falling tree. Ryo then nodded. "With this, I can already transition between attack and defense at a good speed. I can also enhance my defense with an earth release jutsu."

He was satisfied; he felt that soon he would be able to control three sources of the mysterious golden metal, and perhaps learn more about its history. Ryo looked up to determine the direction of the sun, estimating the time. "Damn, I have to go visit the old man."

It had been two weeks since Hiruzen's letter to Ryo, and with that, he flickered towards the Hokage's office. After arriving and getting permission to see Hiruzen, he entered the office with a calm demeanor. "Hokage-sama. I've come as you requested in the letter."

"Ryo, very well. It's been a while since we've seen each other in person, hasn't it? I've been informed about some aspects of your progress through the reports I receive from Asuma. You're doing very well in the academy, just as you said you would." Hiruzen had a satisfied expression as he spoke, as if he were already imagining the numerous missions he would assign to the boy.

Ryo swallowed hard at that. "Yes, I'm doing my best to graduate this year and finally become a ninja. After what happened, I train diligently every day. Kentou-sensei's classes have helped me a lot in the medical field, and my personal training has been satisfactory." Hearing this, Hiruzen then said, "Great! Can you show me how your control with the coins is coming along?"

Ryo then reached into his pocket and took out two coins. "By the end of the year, I feel I can control the third one." As he said this, one of the coins transformed into a small katana in his hand, and the other into a small shield. They then transformed again, joining into one to make the katana larger, the size that Ryo was training with.

"I can maintain this form for 20 minutes, and its cutting power is extremely sharp." He then released the katana's hilt, which floated in the air, turning into 10 kunai, and then separating again into 30 golden needles. This already cost Ryo chakra, but he could manage it, at least to show to Hiruzen.

"I see that you're training hard, Ryo! Your training is on the right track. I also received reports that you're hanging out with Naruto and are good friends, right? I'm happy about that; he's always been very alone." Sarutobi was quite pleased with the results of Ryo's training and also with his friendship with Naruto.

"Next year you will begin your journey as a ninja. I still need to observe a few things, but keep training. The Will of Fire burns within you, Ryo, and I have seen it once again," Ryo then left the Hokage's office, leaving Hiruzen alone inside. The old man had his hand on his chin as he pondered over some plans.

"Ryo's chakra is almost twice as much as the last time I saw him. And his skills are improving rapidly. If he were a bit older, I would consider inviting him to join the Anbu next year, but I'll have to wait for him to gain a few more years of field experience first. In a few years, Konoha will have a strong user of Jiton, who is also a friend of Naruto, the village's jinchuuriki. I expect great things from Ryo to Konoha."

If Ryo had heard this, he might have been concerned about his future well-being, but he was already far away from the office, heading towards the ninja academy. The next few weeks were the final stretch of his time at the academy, with only three months left until the final exams.
