Chapter 14. Past III

Recap: Two years into our friendship, we suddenly began dating.

I did not even know how it happened, one minute we were laughing at something stupid and the next he was asking me on a date. I did not decline him, since I already liked him. When we began dating, we never found the right time to tell anyone so we just left it at that. Nobody knew and we were content with that, until one day Jonathan suddenly asked. We were chilling in my room watching some comedy and laughing our butts off when Jonathan suddenly stopped laughing.

"You guys are dating aren't you?" Immediately our laughter ceased and we looked at him, caught red handed. He did not need any more confirmation, our reddened cheeks and gaping mouths were enough proof.

"I knew it!" He clapped his hands. Blake regained himself first and cleared his throat.

"Yeah, you have a problem with that?" He questioned, going for the offensive approach. Jonathan raised his hand in surrender,

"No man. I would never." a smirk crossed his features so I knew he was up to no good,

"But I was thinking I would be the first to ask her out. Or maybe I should do it now," I laughed because it was so funny, but Blake did not share my amusement because he growled at him.

"It's okay man. No need to go all caveman on me. I bless your union." he put his hands together in a praying fashion. I giggle at his silly words. Blake turned to me in disbelief,

"Are you laughing right now?" I shrugged, and he pouted, so I took the opportunity and pecked his lips. His pout immediately changed to a wide smile and he leaned down to kiss me properly on the lips all thoughts about Jonathan forgotten. Our kiss was broken by the loud shout of 'ew' from Jonathan. We looked at him and smirked

"No PDA, it's scaring me." he put his hands up in an X. Blake just eyed him and said,

"Deal with it." his groan was the last thing I heard before Blake continued kissing me.

The next person and last person we know who found out was West, he had been whining for days about him not dropping me off at school anymore, saying something about missing father-daughter time; although the only thing we did during the ride to school was occasional conversation or no conversations at all or sometimes we listened to the radio and sang along with songs we knew. Therefore, to stop his annoying whining I decided that I would ride with him that Tuesday. I told Blake I will not be riding with him to school that I would instead be going with West he agreed saying he would meet me at school. I rode to school with West and when we got the front of the school, I hopped out shouting a goodbye at the retreating car. I then rushed to a waiting Blake, hooking my hands with his and pecking his check, we entered into the school to look for Jonathan.

I bounced into the house that day, since I was on a good mood and that stopped short when I noticed West's car in the driveway. He came home early and that piqued my interest. I walked into the living room to see him sitting on a couch watching a football match. He does not watch football nor is he interested in it so I knew something was wrong.

"Is something wrong West?" I approached carefully. He jumped, startled. Something was not right. He waved his hand nonchalantly,

"Puft. Nothing is wrong. Nothing at all." and he was repeating words. Something was definitely wrong.

"Don't tell me nothing is wrong. You are watching sports." I pointed out dryly.

He resigned and let out a defeated breath. "Okay. Come closer," he whispered looking around. I did.

"I don't know how to say this. So let me just put it out straightforwardly." I nodded attentively,

"Are you dating Blake?" And I paled. I swallowed.

"I saw you today,"

"H-how?" I stuttered,

"You know, there's something called rearview mirror. Very helpful object."

I swallowed once again. He saw my discomfort and put a hand on my arm.

"It's okay. I did not tell you to judge you or anything. How long?"

"A couple of weeks." I grimaced.

He looked shocked,

"This has been ongoing for a couple of weeks now?"

"Yes. It was not our intent to keep it from you. We just never found the right time. I'm sorry."

"It's okay, child, it's normal for a teenager," he opened his arms and I went into them. Somewhere along the line, West and I had gotten very close, and I now took him as a father figure.

"So tell me, is he treating you well?" He asked from above my head, I smiled,

"I feel like a queen," I mumbled into his chest,

"What! You mean he treats you more than I do?" I laughed,

"Nope, you treat me like an empress." I giggled and he laughed, his chest rumbling, I snuggled in more due to how comfortable he was.

"I want to meet him tomorrow."

"Okay. I'll tell him."

"So do you need me to give you the talk?"

"What! No." I pull a disgusted face at him.

"I only did it once and it was for Wesley and half the time, his ear pods were plugged in."

"Did someone mention my name?" a loud voice proclaimed from the hallway. I snorted and seconds later, the six foot two form of my stepbrother Wesley came into view. Did I mention I had a stepbrother that was six years older than I was, he was studying law in the same college as Hannah, Blake sister, and they were even friends. He was smart, a hot nerd. However, he was also the most troublesome person I have ever seen.

"Oh my God, did I come at the wrong time?"

"Yeah, you did. I was in the middle of making out with West."

"OMG, I'm a witness to incest. Save me!" He exclaimed dramatically before falling on the floor. I laughed aloud and West groaned. Releasing him from me and walking over to his son.

"Welcome home son. But I really think you should reconsider changing your career." he walked to his study. I stood up from the couch and picked up my backpack from the floor.

"Welcome home Wes, we missed your drama," I said as I step over his sprawled out form on the floor. He groaned,

"Are you just going to leave me out here?"

"I just did." I replied and walked to my room, his screams of 'No' was the last thing I heard before the door clicked shut behind me.

I told Blake about West and he spoke to him the next day. It was an amazing sight to see Blake scared of my dad. For the next few months we dated, and approximately a year later, the summer before Blake left for college we broke up. Our break up was not one of mutual understanding, it had a little drama and it all started a week before prom.
