Of Mice and Giants
“How about a wager?” Sybil’s jaw almost dropped.
“What wager?” The old elf smiled, but there was a gentle deviousness to it.
“I will not pass,” Sybil deflated a bit, “But I will make my replacement.”
“I’m sorry?” The old lady grinned at Sybil’s confusion as the sun dipped below the mountains and darkness encased them.
“It’s quite simple. I will part with half my soul so my replacement is made. If they hold onto their purity and kindness, I will pass fully. If they become corrupt fully,” She looked to Sybil with darkness more thick than the night sky in her eyes. She looked bloodthirsty.
“I’ll kill them and anyone they know with my own hands.” Sybil’s blood ran cold and she stiffened. She could feel the power pulsing from the woman under her fingertips, as if she was fighting an urge to kill.
“So,” She grinned, showing wolf-like teeth that looked ready to consume Sybil.
“Do you accept my terms?”
'Sprout' is a young elf holding a secret. Born into a criminal village, she was also born with the power of a Druid, a Grandmaster of the elements that has been missing for thousands of years. She is forced to hide her power, because if she is found out she would be forced to work in the court of the giant emperor. Unfortunately despite her best effort, she is brought to the capital but not for being a Druid, but because her village was invaded for various crimes. She is saved by the Emperors son Dustan, and forced into a marriage trying to end the tyranny of the giants onto the elves. She is given a new name 'Rhea' and forced to try and mend a country filled with war, inequality, and hate. All the while she had to conceal who she really is, and unknowingly keep her kindness.
