Chapter 6 What\'s Your Name?

I gulped hard. Hard enough that I hoped that the soil would swallow me right now!

Raphael squinted his eyes to confirm something as his face grew closer, which I didn’t quite like so I quickly turned my head away in haste and let out a pleading look towards my best friend, whose jaw is currently on the ground. She’s hopeless! I don’t even think she’s breathing due to shock!

Looks like I’m on my own.

For once, I tried to escape from the situation by apologizing with my head down and I stood up to start my escape, I was about to leave the premise when all of a sudden, he grabs my wrist to stop me. The grip was sudden and firm, making me believe that he grew certain about something towards me.

“I know you.” He says, not a pint of doubt in his words.

While still facing away, I tried pulling my hand away from his grip but kept on failing due to our strength gaps. I was screaming inside my mind hoping that this situation would end right now, it would be better if I could even blackout right this instant- yet I realized that things would go more awkward if Raphael suddenly carries me from the ground, for he knew me from that night as a person who slept with him!

Can things get any worse than this?!

“I -I think you got the wrong person, sir! I am a new worker and am of no relation to anyone of high standing like you!”

“Your opinion is irrelevant, show me your face this instant.”

“I-I can’t… I really can’t, sir!”

“You dare disobey your own boss?”

I screamed internally. ‘Why is this happening to me?! Is this because I took advantage of him, is that why he’s humiliating me right now?!’ I continuously shook my head towards his way to gesture that I never meant to disobey him and that I was only certainly acting with respect yet he also continued to disagree until I was forced to be pulled toward him. His lips drew nearby my ear and he whispered through a tone of anger.

“I suggest you not test my patience right now. You have only two options, show your face or disappear from this company.”

At that point, I knew I can’t hide my face anymore. My breathing got unsteady knowing i had just faced a threat from the new boss of our company. Not exactly the best experience I’d tell you, it really made me curse the fate that placed me in this situation. But who else could I blame but myself right now? I didn’t think karma would show up too soon!

I slowly faced him and my hair went properly to the sides to completely show my whole face. And as expected, his eyebrows furrowed in shock.

“Stacy-”

I closed my eyes firmly to prepare myself for the worst.

“Boss!” A familiar voice from afar.

I glanced at the direction and saw the person.

Sir Remy?

He comes up to us and placed his palm above my head to urge me to bow toward Raphael in apology. I don’t know why, but I went along with it and almost cried in relief that someone finally unfroze themself to rescue me from this damned situation. Raphael already recognizes me, It’s useless to deny it. The very least I could do is get out of this before our stupid boss says something about that night and everybody hears it!

“I am currently the Chief of the Marketing department and this is our new coworker ‘Abby’, who has just started her first day. Please forgive her if she ever offended you in some way.”

“Abby?” I heard him say, his tone dark then he lets go off my arm.

I didn’t dare to look at him. I just continued to face down on the ground in nervousness. By the sound of his voice, I could tell that he was angry and.. well disappointed.

“Boss, I think it’d be for the best to take this to the office, there are too many eyes around us right now.”

I tried to take a peak towards him, hoping that he wasn’t that much pissed off as i thought, but what I got in return was his hostile gaze that stared back at mine so I just went back to stare at the beautiful ground. Okay i take it back, he is utterly pissed off!

“What’s your name?”

My eyes widened, is this my time?!

“Remy, sir.”

My eyes widened when i heard Sir Remy speak up beside me. So he was talking to him, i sighed in relief. Thank God he didn’t call for me!

“Remy. I want you at my office after this.”

“Understood.”

After the awkward situation that i got myself in. People were quick to go back to their businesses and i just let everything slide, Which of course, includes running away from Emily because i know she’d be asking me nonstop about what just happened with our new boss. Because of the huge crowd, i was able to escape from her and rushed to the marketing floor to introduce myself properly.

Unfortunately, when i arrived, everyone seemed uncomfortable with me. They were minding their own businesses as if i didn’t walk in as a new coworker, they just simply ignored me. Sir. Remy was the only person i knew in my department but he’s not here so i can’t possibly depend on him.

I just have to deal with this alone!

I cleared my throat to get their attentions. “Good Morning! I am Abby Brooks, i’m the new hire for the Marketing Department!”

I was expecting to be ignored again but all of a sudden, a person beside me pops up. He looked like he was about the same age as me. He had brown hair and eyes like mine and he had a strange playful vibe that made me believe that he was the social type of guy you’d likely meet in a crowd.

“So you’re Abby?”

“Yes?”

“Don’t mind introducing yourself. Everyone’s busy right now because of the new boss. Oh! my name is Keith by the way. I’m part of the Creative Team. Sir Remy already gave us a heads-up about the newbie coming in, but we didn’t expect you to make such a commotion on your first day.”

I didn’t expect it either!
