Chapter 208
At last it was time for their grand wedding. It was an important event for the entire Wang family and the preparations had being going on in full swing. Everything had been checked several times to avoid last minute problems. The pre wedding photo shoot had completed successfully and the absence of Wang Yiran was almost completely forgotten. The wedding photo shoot had taken place over a week and Wang Yu had taken as much photos as he could with his wife.
The Wang family elders had been a bit worried that there was no brides family to follow all the traditions and rituals but the Wu family was more than happy to step in. The Wu family had been close with Li Zi Yun's mothers and they have seen Li Zi Yun grow up. Wang Yu and Li Zi Yun did not object either when Wu Li Shu's mother wanted to be the bride's family. As far as Li Zi Yun knew, Mr. Wu and Mrs. Wu had taken care of her and had been so much interested in her future than the Li family ever was. Li Zi Yun was really grateful that they were doing this for her. She wanted to ask them about this but was having second thoughts, so when they suggested this, she happily agreed.
It was decided that Li Zi Yun would go to the Wu's and stay there before the wedding. Li Zi Yun had chosen only Wu Li Shu as her bridesmaid. But since Li Zi Yun was going to be the daughter in law of the Wang family, several girls from influential families who were friends with the Wang family wanted to be bridesmaids and so they had also been chosen to be part of the bridesmaid gang.
At last three days before the wedding, all the wedding dress had been delivered. Li Zi Yun couldn't believe her eyes when she saw the dresses that were custom made for her wedding. There were a total of seven dresses and she had no idea how she was going to wear everything in the same day. The golden works on the red qipao was done with original gold thread and the details were so intricate. The qipao was studded with stones which Li Zi Yun was sure were real gems. The red veil also had similar works and it was so very beautiful.
The white wedding dress was gleaming under the light. The entire dress was studded with diamonds and the dress was so heavy. Even the veil had diamonds over it. Li Zi Yun couldn't even imagine how much Wang Yu must have spent on all these. Everything would have cost a fortune. The dresses prepared for reception was also exquisite and the designer had taken great care in designing those dresses that Li Zi Yun would have the spot light no matter what. Li Zi Yun wasn't sure if even the royalty wore such exquisite clothes for wedding in ancient times.
Grandmother Wang and Grandfather Wang wanted to see Li Zi Yun in traditional clothes for the wedding so the red qipao was prepared for the tea ceremony. Even a Chinese longfeng qua had been prepared for Li Zi Yun. She had dreamed of having a wedding ceremony, but nothing like this. Li Zi Yun would have been dumbstruck if she had seen the wedding venue. The wedding venue looked like weddings straight out of a comic book. It was the wedding of the century and that is why everyone wanted to be invited to Wang Yu and Li Zi Yun's wedding.
Wu Li Shu was more excited than Li Zi Yun about the wedding. She was seriously planning about the tasks for Wang Yu before he enters the brides chamber. Li Zi Yun had warned Wu Li Shu repeatedly that Wang Yu wouldn't mind even breaking down the house and entering if they did not let him in. But Wu Li Shu wasn't ready to let of this opportunity.
The bridesmaid squad consisted of woman Li Zi Yun had even heard of before. She was sure everyone of them were here only because of Wang family. More than half the woman were putting on fake smiles in front of Li Zi Yun and trying to get in her good books. Behind her back, Li Zi Yun was sure they were glaring at her and speaking ill of her as if she stole the position of Wang Yu's wife from them.
Li Zi Yun had left to live with the Wu's three days before the wedding day. Both the Wu family home and the Wang family home had been decorated in red and gold. The Wu family home really looked like the brides home. The day before her wedding, Li Zi Yun really couldn't sleep. She had to wake up early the next day but still she was wide awake the entire night. She tried to calm herself down. She was already married to Wang Yu for a month and tomorrow was just a ceremony to show the world. But Li Zi Yun was feeling wedding jitters.
Li Zi Yun's make up started early in the morning on the day of her wedding. She wore the red and gold qipao first. The soft silk was so smooth and flowing. Even the pankou knots (knotted buttons on qipao) were embedded with gems. A golden dragon was sewed with hand meticulously and Li Zi Yun looked like a perfect bride. The color complemented her skin tone and added to her beauty. A train had been added which made the dress heavier and Li Zi Yun needed help moving around in it.
