Driving towards the Repose Hospital which was part of Pierre Group, Marcus Pierre glanced at Emery, again and again, to make sure that she wasn't in pain anymore. After spending that way for almost half an hour, they finally reached the hospital, much to Marcus's relief.
He hurriedly got off his car and then helped Emery to get off. Holding her hands, he led her to his mother's office right away.
Dr. Lucia Pierre was alone in her office, anxiously waiting for the two when they finally arrived. She quickly walked towards them and led Emery towards the couch. Then she sat right beside her and held her hands.
"I will tell Jason that we won't be able to go to the university today," Marcus said and with a nod from his mother, he walked out of the office.
Dr. Lucia looked at Emery who appeared so lifeless. The latter sat still without any movement. Her gaze was slightly lowered as if she was thinking of something and her face was pale just like the time she woke up from a coma.
"Emery, what's wrong?" She asked her son's fiancee who still kept her mouth shut. "Did you recall something?"
There was no response but like always, Lucia Pierre was very patient.
"Does your head often hurt?" She asked another question and after a few seconds, Emery slowly shook her head.
The door was opened and Marcus just walked inside again but when he looked at the two women, he halted there and watched them from where he stood.
"Do you still remember that I told you to let me know if it hurts or if anything happens? You should tell me now," Dr. Lucia prodded yet her voice was still calm and full of patience. "When did your head hurt?"
Lowering her head even more than she did before, Emery Hayes recalled that one time when her head hurt like crazy. However, that was still a bit better compared to today.
"Two weeks ago when I visit our company's main building," she muttered in a low voice. "I crossed paths with one woman and she seemed to know me. But... I couldn't recall anything."
"Is that all?" Dr. Lucia cautiously asked. "Did anything else happen when you met her?"
Once again, Emery Hayes recalled that shocking memory.
"She seemed so angry at me, like... she hates me," she replied. Placing her left hand on her chest, she continued, "She grabbed me here and she also said she didn't know that I was still alive. Sneer, contempt... her hatred for me was very evident."
It wasn't just Dr. Lucia but Marcus was also paying full attention to what his fiancee was saying. Hearing out Emery, he was equally surprised as his mother who briefly looked at her.
"Then what happened?" Dr. Lucia asked. If Emery experienced the pain while encountering the woman in question, maybe... she had something to do with the forgotten past.
"Jason came and she apologized, saying that she mistook me for someone else but... I don't think she's telling the truth," Emery honestly stated.
"Why?"
"Because even after she apologized, she still appeared so interested in me." This one bothered Emery a lot but she never said anything to her brother as the latter was so furious because of that incident. She was afraid that something bad would happen if she reminded him about it.
"Then did you ask your brother? Did he say you know the woman?"
"Jason said that she's Victoria Page, the daughter of Page Enterprise," Emery replied. "But he said that there's no way for me to meet her before because Page Enterprise has their headquarters in the state of Avilona and not here in Naviles.
"Even Jason also had only met her once or twice when he attended some parties and business conferences in Avilona."
Page Enterprise.
Marcus Pierre was very familiar with the name as Page Enterprise was the most powerful corporation in the state of Avilona. Though they might not be as powerful as Pierre Group or Hayes Group, they were still one of the top 10 corporations in the country.
Nevertheless, he was rendered confused by the rage that was growing inside him.
His sick fiancee was recently harassed by the daughter of Page Enterprise yet he knew nothing about it?
Why didn't Jason tell him about it? Shouldn't Emery say something to him?!
He was the one who took care of her all those time!
Even Dr. Lucia was so displeased with what happened but now, she knew that her focus should be more on Emery.
"Then what about today?" She asked the question that Emery didn't answer before. "Did something happen to trigger the pain?"
Even Emery wasn't sure of the answer to this certain question.
She was thinking about knowing the hardships of life and all of a sudden, her head felt like it was about to explode!
How was she supposed to explain?!
However...
The pain wasn't the only one that knocked her hard this time.
It's one glimpse of her forgotten memory that made her appear so lifeless even now.
She wanted to answer Dr. Lucia's question and tell her about what she recalled but... she was hesitating; much more like she was scared.
Observing her, Dr. Lucia saw through her fears and she tightened her grip on Emery's hands. "I'm your doctor, Emery. If you trust in me and tell me everything, I will be able to use that information to help you." She paused and asked, "Don't you want to regain your lost memories?"
Silence occupied the office and Emery never once looked up while Lucia Pierre quietly waited with patience. Marcus was also still there, curious yet worried at the same time. That scene when Emery was in pain, still lingered in his mind and it was making him feel uneasy!
After what felt like hours, Emery Hayes finally broke her silence but... her response both rendered Marcus and his mother stupefied!
"No," Emery muttered in a low yet somewhat firm voice. "I don't want to regain my memory."
