CHAPTER 41: SURPRISE

"have all the guests arrived?" he asked to his wife who replied"actually no some are in their way"

"but in the meantime let's welcome the ones that are already here"she added with a smile resting her head on his upper arm.

"Mr caddel,it's been a while"someone called from a distance catching the couple's attention. They saw a woman coming towards them who leaned in to give the couple a hug.

"Stella,you came alone where's your father?" Rachel caddel asked as Stella gave her a hug

"he had something come up so I just came on his behalf"she replied with a mile as the Rachel nodded.

The party was filled with business people and the couple moved to welcome the guests . At the other side two people stood while observing the people coming in.

"damn they are not even here yet"Jason said as he checked his wrist watch. He had been expecting his brother and Ryan for a while now. He was starting to wonder why Ryan asked him to come before he even arrived.

"I'm sure they are in their way"Lucy replied as she adores her gown "besides not everyone has arrived"she added now looking at him

"what do you know?"Jason simply said making Lucy raise a brow in question of what he means by that They could see the host being surrounded by guests . Lucy didnt stare for another second and just focused on something else

"grandpa is coming to you know that?"she said simply to confirm from Jason

"I know that"he replied wondering why Lucy was there in the first place, she was starting to piss him off.

"I'll be back"he said to Lucy as he excused himself

"where are you going?"she asked but Jason didn't reply and she watched as he went outside and she shrugged when she saw me caddel wave at her. With a smile she went ahead to greet the couple.

"evening"she said to them

"you are all grown up"Mrs caddel said to her as she held Lucy's hands

"where are your brothers?"she asked

"Jason is outside and big brother is on his way"Lucy replied with a smile

"okay no worries"Mr caddel was the one to talk. Lucy looked at the direction Jason went wondering what he was doing before turning to the couple .

Outside Jason looked around to see some of the reporters taking pictures of each person that was present there. They have been around even before the party started,not that he took interest in it. But something caught his attention,he wasn't sure but a car came to an half and Jason could recognize that his brother had arrived.

The driver came out to open the door for Ryan to come out as he reached out his hand for Mia to take. By this time people's attention were diverted and so were the reporter's. They all looked stunned at the sight in front of them.

Mia held Ryan's arm as she took in deep breaths to calm her nerves. They were definitely the center of attention. All the reporters had gathered to take photos of them, people around couldn't believe their eyes. Her eyes moved to observe each person's expression,she wasn't used to getting this much attention.

"ready?"she heard Ryan whisper in her ear and she nodded in response. Mia decided to ignore the people around,they were both met by Jason who greeted them with a smile as he complimented Mia.

Mia could hear more whispers when they got in,she saw how surprised people looked . she noticed most of the ladies wearing flashy dresses and some looking at her in envy. She knew it was because of she being with Ryan after all the mighty CEO was never interested in anyone let alone take a lady to an important occasion.

Everyone was focused on the couple that entered that Mr caddel and his wife wondered what was going on as they both looked in the direction only to see Ryan and a lady who was holding him closely.

"well this is new"he said loud enough for his wife to hear. The couple wasn't expecting such a sight tonight but then anything is possible.

They both walked towards Ryan to welcome him

"how are you my boy?"Mrs caddel asked glancing at Mia

"I'm good"he simply replied with a smile

"and who is this fine a lady if I may ask?"Mr caddel Spike

Hearing the question Mia looked at Ryan wondering what he was going to say"she is my girlfriend,Mia"he answered and for a while the couple didn't know if they heard right.

"girlfriend?"Mr caddel asked to confirm only to receive a nod from Ryan

"why is it so hard to believe?"Mia wondered to herself, although no one knows they have a contract relationship but him having a girlfriend shouldn't be that surprising. Mia was tired if seeing this expression everywhere. Some who heard Ryan couldn't help but whisper to themselves and she could see the jealousy of some of the ladies increase.

She placed her head on Ryan's arm , getting more closer to him.

"he is my boyfriend"she added smiling sweetly at Ryan who returned it

"I'm happy for you"Mr caddel said,it was evident that he meant what he said and Mia could feel daggers being thrown at her. Soon most of the guests were present and the party began.

Ryan led Mia upstairs where she could get a full view of everyone present. He could tell she wanted to ask something as her gaze was on Mr caddel and the guests surrounding him.

"uhm is Mr caddel a family friend?"she asked curiously as she earlier saw Jason with him and it appeared that they were very close

"you can say that,he was my father's friend and business partner and now he is to me,the party was basically hosted in honor of our long term friendship and partnership,and he is the closest to our family"he explained

"is that why they are trying to get close to him so they can also get close to you too?"Mia asked to Ryan with her eyes filled with curiosity. She could see the distance between her Ryan wasn't a lot. A waiter passed by to give them both juice,Mia mouthed a thank you as she looked back down.
