MHA: One way road

In the morning, accompanied by the chirping of birds, the bright sun rays went through the window of an average household reaching a bed in which a four-year-old kid lay down.

"Another day.." A tender, childish voice uttered in the tranquil bedroom.

Spencer sat on the bed from his lying position with an absent-minded look. His brain was muddy from waking up before getting crestfallen once he remembered his past.

Spencer was a stupid man. He had no mental incapacity, but the man was never good in any school subjects, always barely passing his grades. A so-called weak student. Fortunately, although he never admitted to lacking intellect, he was self-aware of his shortage of knowledge and thus made his own arrangements in his senior year; instead of wasting time trying for a degree with his low scores and scarce preparation, he decided to become a police officer.

The idea excited him. He was not an academic achiever and thus his idea was fully supported by his family, so once he graduated from high school, he immediately implemented his plan, becoming a police officer-in-training. After half a year in the police academy with arduous training and begrudgingly studying, Spencer finally graduated.

He was the happiest man on the block, but never in his wildest dreams would he think that his career would die fast on his first day at the job—With him along.

The child sighed with heavy eyes unbecoming of his age. He died by a shot in a confrontation with a suspect. Spencer shook his head before sighing, a careless mistake. One that cost him his life.

Suddenly, the sound of hurried steps woke Spencer out of his trance and a few moments later, the door was opened by a woman with odd spiky hair.

Spencer was calm as he watched the woman get close to him with a worried look on her face. Her love was palpable.

"Masaki, how are you feeling?"

"Better. My head doesn't hurt anymore." Spencer, now called Masaki, forced a smile while looking at the worried woman, his mother in this world.

She sighed with relief. "That's good news. Then, let's hurry and dress up for the doctor, shall we?" She walked towards a drawer in one corner of the room. He watched as the woman who should be just a couple of years older searched for kid's clothes to dress him up and silently sighed in his heart.

Ever since he came here, it was getting harder not to sigh. It had been a week since he transmigrated into the fictional universe of 'my hero academia' inside the body of a four-year-old, thankfully retaining the kid's full memories. Although he was a fan of the anime, Masaki had a hard time accepting it at first, but after a week of mourning and constant denying, he had to face his new reality.

He cooperated with his mother, who was changing his pajamas for outdoor clothes while reviewing his new-found memories. According to the previous owner of the body, one day, out of nowhere, he suffered from a massive headache that knocked him out cold. According to the doctor at that time, Masaki was developing a quirk with pain as the precursor of the quirk manifesting. However, nobody could imagine what would happen next. The pain was too stimulant for a four-year-old, managing to take the child's life and as consequence, helped his soul take over the kid's body.

He felt bad for the previous owner of the body who was just a child, and at the same time, felt fortunate to receive a second chance at life.

After arriving at the hospital and waiting in line for their turn, Masaki, accompanied by his mother, finally arrived at the doctor's office.

"Oh, but if it isn't our next biggest hero, Masaki-kun?" The doctor in charge smiled at him before nodding toward his mother.

"Hi.." He felt a little ashamed to be treated like a child but quickly calmed down once he remembered his current appearance. He was indeed a child at the moment.

"Hello, doctor. It seems that Masaki is not hurting anymore." His mother followed up while petting his hair.

"Mhm, it appears so." The doctor nodded while checking his file. "Then, he should have already fully manifested his quirk. How do you feel champ?"

"I feel normal. Nothing feels strange." He said while looking at his own hand. Although they said he had a quirk, he honestly felt like usual. If not for the difference in the angle of view, it was as normal as when he was Spencer.

The doctor nodded before walking behind his desk, watching the computer, and adjusting his glasses. "Mrs. Ichioka, our records show that your quirk is 'heat manipulation' and Mr. Ichioka's quirk is called 'armor creation', is that correct?"

"Yes, doctor. My husband's quirk allows him to create an armor for a single random section of his body." She quickly spoke. "As for mine, it allows me to warm inanimated objects. Of course, not at dangerous levels."

'Wow, so useless..' Masaki said in his heart. Of course, he will never speak out his true thoughts, he still has that minimal decency.

Before he could continue his meaningless train of thought, his arm's hair follicles contracted followed by a tingling sensation. With the corner of his eye, Masaki was able to see an upcoming object fastly approaching, appearing next to his face in a blink of an eye. A part of him could feel the said object, as weird as it sounded, and before it hit him, it stopped.

The object, now he could clearly see was a small red plastic ball, stopped right before it could hit him, floating in the air beside his face. This surprised him for a few seconds before his sight went past the plastic ball to the outstretched arm of the doctor who smiled satisfied, accurately displeasing Masaki.

He had just been slightly annoyed, when, accompanied by a slight wind that slightly messed up his hair, a red flash returned directly toward the now surprised doctor. It was at a speed where he could not react, accurately hitting his face, and breaking his glasses.

"..Well, now we know your quirk."
