Chapter 1☆Chapter 1☆

The realm beyond the stars shimmered with an ethereal glow as Maya, the Goddess of Destruction, lounged on her throne of flames. Her molten eyes flickered with a blend of apathy and yearning, her lips curling into a bored pout as she watched the mundane lives of mortals unfold beneath her.

"How tedious," she muttered, stretching languidly. The fires that surrounded her throne flared in response to her mood, casting long shadows across her domain. "Not one challenge, not one amusing event. What does a goddess have to do to find some excitement around here?"

She sat up suddenly, her eyes narrowing as a thought formed in her mind. "I suppose it's time I go down there myself. These mortals are always in such... chaotic predicaments. Maybe I'll stir things up a bit."

With a snap of her fingers, the flames around her throne exploded in a fiery display of power, engulfing her entirely. In an instant, the fire dissipated, leaving behind only empty space as Maya descended into the world of mortals, her crimson cloak billowing around her curvaceous figure like molten lava.

The world of Ciphus greeted Maya with the bustling sounds of village life. Dirt paths meandered between small homes, and distant rolling hills marked the horizon. Mortals moved about their lives, blissfully unaware of the divine entity that had just entered their midst.

Maya didn't waste time basking in the simplicity. She had come for excitement, not to watch humans go about their routines. With a confident stride, she wandered down the road, her eyes scanning for something, anything, that would ignite her interest. The problem with being all-powerful was that so little held her attention for long.

It didn't take long for trouble to find her. From a nearby hill, the sound of hooves pounded the earth, and a carriage raced down the road toward her, drawn by frenzied horses and driven by a group of men with rough faces and cruel eyes. The carriage teetered dangerously on the uneven path, its speed reckless, and the moment they spotted her in the middle of the road, one of the bandits let out a harsh laugh.

"Out of the way, girl!" one of the bandits shouted as the carriage bore down on her.

Maya simply smiled, her eyes gleaming with excitement. "Oh? A welcome party already?"

She didn't move. The carriage, now dangerously close, showed no sign of slowing. Just as the horses were about to trample her, Maya snapped her fingers, and with a flick of her wrist, a small burst of flame appeared at her fingertips.

The moment the carriage touched the flame, it exploded in a massive fireball, wood and metal disintegrating into ash in an instant. The bandits' cries were cut short, their bodies incinerated, leaving only blackened scorch marks on the dirt road.

When the smoke cleared, Maya stood unharmed, her expression one of mild amusement. The shattered remains of the carriage smoldered at her feet.

From behind a nearby bush, a trembling voice called out. "W-Who are you?"

Maya turned to see a young maiden, barely out of her teens, emerging from the foliage where she had clearly hidden during the attack. She was clutching a small satchel of goods, her eyes wide with awe and fear. Her simple dress was torn and dirtied, but she seemed unharmed.

Maya tilted her head, examining the girl. "Those men took something from you?"

The girl nodded, still shaking. "T-they stole from the village. Everything we had..."

Maya made a dismissive gesture, and the satchel floated from the girl's arms back to her, the goods multiplying until the contents overflowed. "There. That should suffice."

The young maiden stared in disbelief at the overflowing satchel, then at Maya. "You... you're amazing! How did you, who are you?"

Maya's smile widened, and she gave a casual shrug. "I am Maya, the Goddess of Destruction."

The girl blinked once, then laughed nervously. "A goddess? Sure, and I'm the Queen of Ciphus." She grinned awkwardly, clearly thinking Maya was joking.

Maya raised an eyebrow, but her amusement remained intact. "Believe what you will, human. But I've decided you may live today."

The girl looked bewildered but grateful nonetheless. "Thank you, um... Maya."

Maya nodded, already losing interest. The encounter, while mildly entertaining, was far from the thrill she sought. "I grow bored of this place already. I'll leave you to return to your village."

Without waiting for a response, Maya turned and began walking again, her crimson cloak sweeping the dust behind her as the flames in her eyes reignited with a flicker of anticipation.

There had to be something in this world, something truly exhilarating, that would make this trip worth her while. And she would find it.

As she walked, the faint echo of the maiden's voice followed her, the girl still too stunned to truly grasp what had just happened. "Wait! Where are you going?"

Maya didn't bother to answer. Her path was her own, and she would follow it wherever the excitement called.

But one thing was certain, wherever she went, the world would soon know the name Maya, Goddess of Destruction.
