A Dotting Father

Chapter 8

SKYLAR LEWIS MARSHAL

I was sitting by the kitchen island, half my body slumped on the counter with half of my face pressed on it, sharing Sarah how my day went as she was cooking for dinner.

"I'm such a dumb, clueless, ignorant— fool." I whined.

Sarah just laughed while stirring whatever she's cooking.

"I'm supposed to be a poor… or average, normal?"

'gosh'

Even I, do not know what I was saying.

Sarah turned to look at me only to smile while shaking her head then back to her cooking. Like telling me I'm the silliest person there is.

I groaned in frustration.

"Just be yourself, why stress about it?" Sarah said.

"I want to have real friends Sarah, real people around me." I stubbornly reasoned.

"Won't you earn them by being who you are?" She asked.

I shook my head and pouted like a child.

She sighed, "Look, you get to choose Sky."

"You have full control of who you let to get in and not… into your life."

I knitted my brows, "How am I suppose to know they're real in that case?"

"Tsk, " then I clicked my tongue.

"You would just know, eventually." Sarah answered gently like she's so sure of it.

I just rolled my eyes.

"Honestly though, no one would believe you, claiming to be average much more being poor anyway."

"And why is that?" I furrowed my brows.

Sarah finally turned to me with her whole body facing me, raising the ladle in her hand.

"You wore expensive items young lady."

"You dress well too."

"Didn't I say, that you would still look good in the dirtiest of rags?"

"Another thing… your aura, vibrance, complexion— they sold you off."

"So give up the idea of being poor."

Then she playfully wiggle both her brows and got back to cooking leaving my mouth hanging.

I was about to protest but the ringing of my phone interrupted me.

"I was beginning to think that you liked it there very much that you had forgotten your father."

The overbearing demeanor of my father fitted on the screen of my phone.

Then he leaned in closer to the screen examining me with curious brows.

"Did you just get bullied?!"

"Who the hell dared to?!"

'Wow'

Even just in the device, I could hear the echoing of his voice around his room as he yelled angrily.

"I will burn their house to ashes!"

I rolled my eyes knowing my father.

And noticing a small smile on his face, I couldn't hold back my laughter, it was adorable.

"Your ways are brutal Dad."

"I know, " he answered like it's no big deal— being brutal.

'hahaha'

He smirked, "Just so you know, I can do anything for you."

I laughed with that, "Thanks Dad."

"You're the best."

"So, how was your day Sweety?" He shifted to a cutie little kitten.

My father really amazes me.

'wait'

My day?

Well, I again embarrassed myself of my ignorance.

But I won't tell him that.

"It was fine Dad."

"Nothing much to do since it's the first day."

"Then why the defeated look you have now?" He asked.

I scratched the back of my head, "I was hoping to ask you something father dear…"

His face immediately turned serious, "Tell me."

"What is it that you want my precious?"

"Could you send me one of my cars here Dad?"

"Certainly," he immediately agreed.

"Just one?" He added.

"Just one Dad, the—"

"Not the Audi R8 Spyder." Sarah cut me off.

Then I was just about to open my mouth, she cut me off again.

"No Bugatti, no Lamborghini, no sports car— not those low-built cars Sky."

'Seriously?'

My mouth hung low, "Why?"

She sighed, "We are in the mountain young lady."

"Just imagine driving those on an unpaved and or on a very rough road."

'Shit'

Right, Sarah knows how much I treasure my cars.

She has a point.

I love my cars so much that it hurts me if they are hurt.

I'm that obsessed.

I turned to my father with a pleading look.

"I'll handle it Sweety." He gently nodded in understanding.

"Thanks dad."

"Anything for you my daughter."

'Awww'

I'm so loved.
