[Olivia's POV]
The conversation felt strange to me. Khane opened up about a topic that seemed completely absurd. All my life, I had lived in the misery of people with power. A dark world like the one Khane described was something I'd never even vaguely heard of.
Khane was so serious as he explained who he really was and what his group was about. Meanwhile, I, the listener, was left utterly confused. In my logical mind, all of this seemed like folklore from the ancestors, not something that could actually happen in the real world. Was he joking?
No, Khane wasn't the type to joke. His expression was always so stoic, like a living mannequin. I was sure it was all true.
Still shocked by Khane's confession, I stayed quiet in my room. Khane had just left for work, and of course, I didn't want to disturb him. Especially now that we were officially a couple—Khane called it being "mates."
