Lowering Entropy

In the year 2025, the world was facing a major crisis, there was a massive shortage of food and due to most fossil fuels being used up, nations were at each other's throats. The unity that the world once had was starting to crumble, with the threat of war around the corner nobody could trust each other. It was at then that an unsuspected power emerged. A worldwide message of mysterious origins started showing on every station and every smartphone.

"We are Entropy, and we will unravel the world"

At first everyone took it as a joke, thinking that this was some strange marketing campaign. They quickly realized how wrong they were. Disaster struck when Hungary seemed to abruptly explode, their nuclear warheads and power-plants had all at once self-destructed. What was once an entire nation, was now a black spot on the earth. While everyone was busy being shocked at the event, the second message came.

"Fear our power, Join or be immolated"

It was then that everyone woke up and saw the situation that they were in. From the ashes of Hungary and its fallout, arose the first stronghold of Entropy. They seemed to not be affected in the slightest by the nuclear fallout happening. This strange event caused even more paranoia and fear towards them. Soon more people and countries started to join under them to avoid destruction, the small ones that fought, ceased to be.

Five years since Entropy emerged, they became a major power and the final countries that didn't join them where in an all-out war and united to take on this frightful foe. The world had finally stopped fighting and combined strength to eliminate Entropy. Though this unity would never last, for peace would only last for a short time after a world enemy was defeated.

In a large office at the top of a tower overlooking a city stood a fairly old man with grey hair and a cold look in his eye. As he stood there contemplating the world, a young man burst in with sweat running down his face and out of breath.

"Sir Cain, The UN's forces are here, and they have gotten past our defenses! We need to get you out of here!"

Cain stood there with a calm look in his eyes as he gazed at the city, wondering where he went wrong. He was the leader of the organization known as Entropy, working his whole life to spread its influence secretly, rising to power only to for it to slip through his fingers. Gazing down at his open palm he spoke.

"Charlie, you have done a lot of good work here, you deserve a break. you should escape while you can, I on the other hand won't be leaving."

Charlie had a look of shock on his face from what his master had said.

"Sir we may have failed but we can start again, please sir, run!"

"I am an old man now; I won't last too much longer here. The world has united to destroy us, I just hoped that it was a more permanent solution."

Just at that moment the door blew open followed by a barrage of gunfire, the room was torn to bits by bullets. Debris on the floor and windows shattered, with that Charlie dropped dead unable to even understand his master's words.

"Rest well Charlie, and welcome guests."

A cold wind blew in as Cain turned around to be face to face with a squad of armed soldiers with guns pointed directly at him.

"Your time is up Kiaphas Cain, there is nowhere else to run. Now get down and come quietly."

Chuckling with a sinister look in his eyes and a smile on his face, Cain stared back.

"No, I have never been the type to go along quietly, I have failed, and the world will be lesser for it. It's now time to meet my maker, goodbye gentlemen."

With a smile he pulled out a handgun from his suit and before he could aim it at the armed men, a flurry of bullets was fired at him. Piercing his chest at high speeds it pushed him back towards the window and gravity doing the rest. As he fell, coming closer to the ground, he only wished he had a second chance. It was at then that it all went black, but only for a moment.
