Guest from the Vatican

The dull days continue to pass at Kuoh Academy, a school located in the town of Kuoh, Japan. This academy was not just an ordinary school, but also a place for supernatural beings to study. Eugene, one of the students who stood out among them, lay listlessly at his desk, his gaze blankly directed out the open classroom window.

Sunlight filtered through the window panes, creating patterns of light that played on the wooden table and floor. A gentle breeze moved the curtains, bringing the refreshing scent of spring. Although it was beautiful and sunny outside, Eugene felt that there was nothing interesting in the classroom.

"Another boring day," she muttered softly, his voice almost swallowed up by the rustle of the wind blowing in. She rested his chin on his folded hands, his eyes narrowing slightly from the incoming light.

Eugene tried to ignore the sound of the lesson in progress. The teacher at the front of the class seemed eager to explain the material, but to Eugene, his words sounded like a meaningless hum. His classmates, mostly supernatural beings like himself, seemed busy taking notes or whispering with their next-door neighbors.

Outside the window, birds chirped cheerfully, flying freely in the cloudless blue sky. Eugene felt envious of their freedom, away from the monotonous routine he faced every day in this academy. He longed for something more, something that could get his blood racing and his soul excited again.

Eugene took a deep breath, trying to shake off the boredom that enveloped him. He hoped something exciting would happen, something that could turn these monotonous days into a colorful adventure. But for now, he could only stare out the window, waiting patiently for something extraordinary to finally come his way.

As the lesson progressed, Eugene's mind already drifted to lunchtime. 'What should I eat for lunch?" he thought while ignoring the teacher in front of the class who was explaining the material. He didn't really care about the current lesson. 'Right, Lily will make lunch for me,' he continued, imagining the delicious food Lily usually prepared. Unnoticed, a little drool dripped from the corner of his mouth.

While engrossed in daydreaming about lunch, Eugene suddenly felt a sense of sacred existence emanating from something familiar. The sensation brought him to his senses, his eyes now fixed on the academy's entrance gate. There, two people stood in a suspicious manner. They wore robes that covered most of their bodies, making their identities difficult to recognize. One of them was carrying a large object wrapped in bandages. It looked conspicuous, and from Eugene's perspective, it was probably a sword-and not just any sword.

Eugene watched them closely, trying to remember if he had seen them before. He felt there was something strange and dangerous about their presence. His gaze shifted to the large object that one of them was carrying, certain that it was a sword. 'A holy sword?' he thought, trying to look for further clues from a distance.

"Eugene!" The loud voice of the teacher jolted Eugene back to reality. "Can you answer this question?" he asked with a sharp look.

Eugene hurriedly stood up, turning his attention away from the academy gates. He tried to remain calm and answer the teacher's questions as best he could, even though his mind was still filled with the suspicious presence out there. After answering smoothly, he returned to his seat, his gaze occasionally glancing out the window, making sure the two people were still there.

'Who are they?' he thought to hisself, curiosity and caution mixed within his. he knew, after class was over, he would have to investigate more about this mysterious presence. Something inside his told his that their presence at Kuoh Academy was no coincidence.

The two people who appeared to be from the Vatican were immediately approached by Sona Sitri, who had her aide, Tsubaki Shinra, in tow. Sona, with a serious and dignified face, looked at the two mysterious guests. She did not want to waste time with pleasantries, especially when dealing with the Heavenly faction.

"Sorry for the delay," Sona said in a cold but polite tone. "Then let's get on with it. What business does the Vatican have coming to this region?"

Her gaze was sharp and decisive, indicating that she would not accept ambiguous or far-fetched answers. The two guests exchanged glances before one of them, a woman about Sona's age, took a step forward. Her robe was slightly open, revealing the cross symbol on her chest, and her expression showed a dislike for the existence of devils.

"We have an important mission, and we wish for the demons to stay out of it," the woman said in a cold, disapproving tone.

Sona pushed her glasses up, making them sparkle in the sunlight. "I'm sorry, but what is your mission that we can't know? You should know, my voice here isn't strong enough because there are other rulers. So, even if I agree, it's not certain that the other two will. I ask for your cooperation. What brings you to our territory?"

The woman with blue hair hidden under her veil looked annoyed, her lips twitching as if she wanted to retort sharply. However, before she could say a word, her companion - also a woman of the same age as Sona - stepped forward to avoid an unnecessary fight.

"Sorry for earlier," She said in a calmer, more diplomatic tone. "We're here on a mission to find the Excalibur sword fragment that the culprit is suspected of hiding around this town."

Sona nodded slowly, digesting the information. "Excalibur sword shards, huh? That is indeed a serious matter. However, although we understand the urgency of your mission, we cannot allow anyone, including you, to conduct operations without proper coordination with our side."

The blue-haired woman sighed, still looking unhappy, but calmer. "We understand, Sitri. We just hope that no interference will hinder our mission."

Sona smiled slightly, her eyes remaining sharp. "Cooperation is key. If you want our help, you must be willing to share information and work with us. We will make sure nothing hinders your mission, as long as it does not threaten our territory and citizens."

The two women from the Vatican exchanged glances again before nodding in unison. "Alright, we agree," the blue-haired woman said in a more accepting tone.

With that agreement, Sona stepped back, signaling Tsubaki to take down any important information. "Alright, we will arrange a further meeting to discuss the details of your mission. Thank you for your understanding."

The blue-haired woman and her companion nodded, looking more relaxed.

The entire conversation was watched by Eugene from behind the window, though he could not hear clearly due to the distance and the possibility of Sona using perception-disrupting magic to make Eugene's demon senses malfunction. As a result, the man could only watch from behind the window in his chair.

His sharp eyes tried to read the gestures and expressions of the two Vatican guests as well as Sona who stood resolutely before them. The annoyed-looking blue-haired woman and her calmer teammate provided enough clues for Eugene to piece together a picture of the situation.
