Divorce Paper

"Are you sure about your plan?" inquired the person on the other end of the line.

"I'm certain of it, so do not worry!" Her voice is determined and courageous.

"If that's the case, let's meet here in Country A."

"All right then!" She replied quickly before hanging up the phone. She didn't wait for his response.

All clothes have already been packed and placed in a small suitcase because she does not need to bring many items. She did not want to raise any suspicions about her departure plans.

She looked around the room, but her gaze was drawn to the wedding photo hanging at the head of the bed. They were both smiling as the woman wore a white wedding gown and the man wore a black tuxedo. She was not sure if the guy's smile is genuine but she is. On that day, She was the happiest person on earth since She has finally married the man she loves.

It's been a year since they married, and all she felt since then is pain and grief.

"Sigh!" She exhales and placed a folder on the side table containing a divorce paper with her signature on it before approaching her suitcase and dragging it out of the room.

"Madam where are you going?" Lydia inquired politely. She is one of the housemaids and Edward's hired to take good care of the house.

"I have an emergency business trip," She answered back.

"Was Sir Edward aware of the business trip?"

"He has really no idea; I tried to call him but his phone is out of service, so I messaged him." And show her the text message she sent.

"Wait a minute, Madam, I just called him to inform him about your departure!"

Lydia said this as she reached for her phone to call Edward.

Ivy noticed she dialed three times, but her call did not go through because Edward has a habit of turning off his phone when he is at a party or in a meeting so that no one can bother him.

He has to attend a birthday party for one of his friends today, and he tried to invite her as well, but She declined because she is not feeling well, which is a lie so that she can leave freely.

"Just let him know when he gets home later," She said pettishly to Lydia.

"All right, Madam, I just called Lando to drive you out!"

"No need, I just take the cab!" Ivy said this as she began to walk to the main entrance dragging her suitcase.

"Wait Madam, how long will you be gone?" Lydia inquires once more.

"I just call Edward once I arrived at my destination so no need to bother," She replied as she continued walking.

"Madam!" Lydia called her out but she did not spare her with another glace and just rode on the cab that was already waiting outside.

She even saw Lydia chasing her outside, but she came back inside when she did not catch up with her. She kept looking in the cab's side mirrors and watching their house getting smaller. This was a gift from Grandpa Federico when they got married. She still remembers the word he says upon giving us the key to this property. "In this home, build the family that your dream of. Fill it with love and happiness and of course raise here my great-grandson and granddaughters." but that did not happen because in that so-called home her husband gave her only tears and anger.

"I am sorry Grandpa!" She whispered because all the people she knew only Grandpa would be hurt and sad because of her decision but she does not have any choice. She needs it for herself. If she could only say goodbye to him at least It can ease the guilt that she feels right now. Even if she had a chance, She knew she could not because when she did that she knew he would just stop her and persuade her to stay and tolerate him once more.

"We are here!" The driver said after an hour's drive.

"Thank you!" She said as she directly went down with her luggage after that she paid the fare.

"Paging passenger bound to Country A please proceed to lane 56." It was announced several times throughout the airport that why she proceed straight away because that is her flight.

They finally took off after an hour of waiting, leaving Country P for good.

While in the house she left, Edward came while staggering due to drunkenness and sat on the sofa.

"Lydia!" He shouts.

"Sir," Lydia said while rubbing her eyes because of sleepiness.

"Bring me some coffee!" He said, and Lydia followed instantly. After a few minutes later Lydia returned with a hot coffee in her hands.

"Here is your coffee Sir, I just put it on the center table."

"Is your Ma'am already asleep?" He asks again while holding his forehead while massaging because it hurts from excessive drinking of alcohol.

"She left, according to her She has an emergency business trip."

"Business trip?" Edward asked in surprise because he did not remember that Ivy had a business trip scheduled for today.

"Yes Sir!"

"How many days?" Edward asked while his drunkenness seemed to disappear from what he heard.

"According to Madam, she will call you once she arrives at her destination."

"Why would she only call me when she arrived? why did not she call me before she left?

"She called you but your phone is out of coverage even I tried to call you but still it is out of coverage area," Lydia explained patiently, not wanting to be blamed by Edward.

That's when Edward remembered his phone so he took it from his pants pocket and that's when he saw that it was really turned off when he entered the venue moments ago so he instantly opened it.

A text message popped up from his phone from Ivy and he instantly opened it.

"I will be leaving, take care of yourself! Goodbye!" It is a simple message but full of meaning and because of what he read he seemed restless.

"You may go!" Edward says as he remembers that Lydia is still standing in front of him. After she left he dialed Ivy's number but after several tries still, a voice mailbox can be heard.

"Unfortunately, I cannot take your call right now, but I want to return it as soon as I can. So please leave me a message after the beep."
