Fate's Game of Cards
The city-state of Luxalt was once expected to become a territory rich in both culture and economy, founded on a high cliff overlooking beautiful ocean sights and located close to many natural veins of magical resources, its future seemed to pave itself.
Many things went wrong in the end, greed, amateurish contributors, and even organized crime. It quickly became a coveted sources of riches and resources, but those boons never stayed in the city for long.
Only the few ruling powers ever get the chance to live in any sort of comfort in Luxalt, with streets caked in trash and teeming with rats and crime alike, one would have to have the money to wall themselves off from the rest of the city to have any sort of cleanliness or safety.
This blighted failure of the city is the birthplace of Veos, a criminal born of a family that didn't even have the resources to hold itself together.
With an early life full of thievery, his actions eventually stripped him of the little rights he had in Luxalt and landed him in The Tomb, a mining camp previously formed as an answer to the criminals that were unfortunate enough to get themselves caught by what little law the city still had.
Though a sliver of fortune finally shines on Veos when he finds himself under the tutelage of a nameless elder now on his death bed, and he suddenly becomes the inheritor of a mysterious skill, and a vast legacy.
Not only does the opportunity for a free life seem to present itself, but the path to a much greater strength makes itself clear.
Read along as Veos makes his way from a mere slave, to a hidden power working behind the scenes of a corrupted city.
