I Still Want More

Entering with so much excitement, Laura looked like one who has won a lottery; breathing so hard like one who has been running a mountain race, Helen sat her down and gave her a glass of water.

"Calm down Laura and tell me the good news"

"Girl Ken proposed" she said leaping with joy showing Helen the beautiful silver ring with shiny pearls of diamond all around it. Helen hugged her friend_

"Congratulations girl, I am so happy for you. You deserve all the happiness in the world. But one thing, I am going to be the one to stand by your side on that great day, nothing more, nothing less"

"Of course you will, no one can take your place. you are more like a sister to me"

The wedding was due in two months so everyone was busy preparing for it. Helen decided to take charge of the food and dressing, the to be couples were grateful. Everything was in place and it was all good, Helen made sure the dressings were beautiful and classy as well as the bride. You could feel the love from the couple's vows. Ken and Laura had invited Mike because he was Ken's friend in spite of the fact that he messed up. During the ceremony, Helen was so jolly and so focus that she didn't notice his presence and more to that, there were so many guest.

It was reception time, the moment of fun. Everyone handed their gift to the couples and it was Helen's turn. Her gift was funny but wonderful; she gifted the couples a whole set of baby items including the baby's cot. Everyone was kind of surprised and giggled then Helen took the mic_

"Hey couples, after this celebration I want a baby_ one who will call me aunty and always spend time with me on weekends, one who will play with me and tell me how best of an aunt I am and how beautiful I look with my glasses on"

Everyone laughed and she hugged the couples_

"Ken this is my friend and sister, if you dare hurt her, I will teach you a bitter lesson. You ought to make her happy and feel her with so much love that it can be seen from a distance. I love you both and wish you all the best in Your life as couples. Always love, support, care and stand by each other through thick or thin. When things get tough remember these vows you made on the alter and stand by each other, let your love always suppress and out stand every trial and test of time"

Mike watched Helen from a distance_

"Wow, she's really changed. I could not recognize her. I have never seen her beaming like this before"

Mr. Harry admired Helen from his table and loved her the more_

"OMG..... This lady is amazing, look at how beautiful she is when she laughs, but she hides this awesome part of her being with a serious look at work all the time. Anyways, maybe she's just being professional"

It was Mike's turn to gift the newly wedded couple and when Helen noticed his presence, her mood suddenly changed. She was about going out when her eyes met Laura's who with an action urged her to calm down.

Mike went down on his knees in the midst of the crowd and everyone focussed on him, the music stopped. Helen was embarrassed and asked him again and again to stand up but he didn't. He began talking_

"Ladies and gentlemen, my dear couples, sorry for this interruption but i can't go on with life knowing I've hurt the best lady ever. A lady who showed me nothing but love when I didn't know how to love myself; a lady who supported me at my worst; a lady who cared for me and gave me her all. What did I do in return? I hurt her so badly. Not even for once did I pause to remember her love and sacrifices. I only thought of myself, I was egoistic_ thinking about my future and goals, ignoring and not minding if she had hers or not. All I want is for her to give me one last chance which i know I'm not worthy of her love anymore. I will live regretting ever losing the most precious gift; a treasure and blessing. Please My lady, if I can't have you back, let me at least have your forgiveness perhaps it will help reduce the burden in my heart. Don't punish me forever i beg you, and don't deprive me too of your forgiveness"

Helen couldn't hold back seeing Mike in tears and miserable. A voice in her head spoke_

"He deserves it after all, let him cry and be in pains"

Another said_ "Come on Helen, don't punish yourself; followed your heart and let go"

"Mike i have forgiven you, stop crying"

Mike couldn't stop knowing he has lost a treasure.

Helen continued_

"I wish i could let you regret all your life but too bad i just can't do that. Even though you messed up, still you gave me the best love memories ever and those memories aren't enough for me yet because i still want more"

Surprised, but happy, Mike took out a ring from his suit, one he had bought for Helen years back_

"Helen, give me the honor and privilege of being my soulmate and the mother of my children, being my lady forever? Will you marry me?"

Helen was speechless with cloudy eyes and a smile, she nodded with a loud yes.

The hall was filled with loud and merry voices. Helen and Mike hugged each other and the celebration continued in a jolly atmosphere.
