Is it wrong to take a break in Danmachi?

(A/N this and the next chap had a spacing bug so i fixed it, so its a bit more readable now lol)

In a castle, a white-haired man was sitting at a desk inside a medium-sized room. His name was Alvar, he looked to be in his 20s with golden eyes and a burn-like scar on his left eye. He had a tired expression on his face while looking out of the window at the building across the kingdom while waiting for something.

After about four minutes Alvar heard knocks on the door.

"You may enter." He said in a calm tone with a smile on his face while looking at the people entering the room.

The first to enter was a Human with brown hair and eyes who looked to be in his 30s. He has tanned skin and was wearing casual clothing while taking a seat. This is Maxwell a close friend of Alvar.

The next was a young woman with green hair and purple eyes who seemed to be very young. She wasn't wearing any clothing other than vines and plants covering her privates. She was a druid and took a seat next to Maxwell. Her name was Xylia.

Last to enter was an old man with a long white beard and blue eyes. He was wearing a blue shirt with an old goldish brown jacket over it and wore a hat with a feather hanging down the top. This is Alfred, a merchant, he sat next to Xylia.

"I'm glad to see you all again since it's been a while." said Alvar after each of them took a seat.

"True since you have been pretty busy lately." said Maxwell.

"I was making something which is the reason I called you all here." said Alvar with a sigh.

"Oh? It should be something concerning since you never called us when you're busy with your hobbies." said Xylia with concern

"You usually make a lot of weapons and artifacts but never had the need to report on it." said Alfred while rubbing his beard and his eyes shining with interest

"Well before we start with that let me tell you something very important first." said Alvar while taking a deep breath. "I'm planning on retiring." He said while looking at their reaction.

Both Maxwell and Alfred were shocked and confused while Xylia understood since she was the oldest and knew him the longest.

"I wish to retire because I'm tired and my goal has been completed. I have been looking after this kingdom for a very long time and made sure it's safe countless times, but I don't wish to spend more of my time chained down to this kingdom and wish to rest." Alvar said with a tired smile on his face.

"But that isn't the main reason, Right?" Asked Xylia thinking of someone she met in the past.

"Of course... I wish to fulfill my promise which is where the item I made comes in. Its purpose is to safely open up a portal to take me to a different world" He said with a bit of excitement thinking about what he might find on the other side.

Alfred let out a sigh and asked " So you asked us to come here to look after the kingdom in your stead?"

Alvar looked at Alfred and said "Yes, if possible I want the three of you to look after this place while I'm gone and also to look for people you fully trust with all your heart to help you as well. Although I'm leaving I still deeply care about this kingdom and I don't want it to fall." he said sincerely

Maxwell started smiling and said "I understand fully and I am up to the task. My grandfather had taught and told me stories of the things you have done for them and for me so I don't mind looking after this place while you're gone. Although I would need help"

"I am also up for the task. I do have a lot of experience in politics so you don't have to worry." Said Alfred

"I'll take care of the people and make sure everything is fine. You don't have to worry about anything" said Xylia, since she is a druid she is very intuned with nature and can also discern people's true nature and see how trustworthy they truly are.

Although it didn't show on his face Alvar was pretty shocked seeing them agree so fast since his request was so sudden. He thought they would need some time to think this over since it takes a lot to run a kingdom.

"Thanks a lot, you guys it really does mean a lot to me." he said with gratitude. "I'm planning on finishing some of my work in the next two to three days then after that spend the last few days with you and the rest then leave."

"Is it fine if I stay here with you and ask some questions while you work? I do understand most of the protocols and how to run the kingdom but I prefer to be prepared and ask questions while you're still here." Asked Maxwell earnestly.

"I don't mind at all and I'm quite glad you're already taking your future job sincerely." Said Alvar gladly.

After that Alvar spends the next few days teaching Maxwell while fixing a few things in his castle. Xylia and Alfred also met up with them some of the time to make sure about certain stuff.

After that was done Alvar spent the last day with his friends and bidding them farewell.

Alvar's retirement was already announced to the people which caused quite the commotion but they couldn't really do anything since it was announced when he left.

Now Alvar was standing on a hill far away from the kingdom and looking at it in the distance. He had already taken the items he needed for the journey and placed them inside his storage magic but left a bag on his shoulder since he doesn't know how common the different types of magic and items he has is in the new world.

He already started missing this place since a lot has changed and happened here, but there's no turning back now. He looked down and took out his necklace and looked at the multi-colored heart it had and smiled.

"I finished the promise I made to you and took your revenge, now it's time to complete the next promise... and that's to find you again." he said with hope and conviction.

Alvar turned around and put the neckleace around his neck and lifted his left arm up and closed his eyes. The mana around the area started closing in and spiraling around him. The necklace started glowing brighter and brighter. the different colors started stretching out and taking on a humanish appearance. They are elemental spirits with their color corresponding with the element they control.

Each of the spirits lifts their arms up and points them in the same direction as Alvar. They each infused their elemental infused mana towards a single point where a small crack started and it slowly expanded to a size where Alvar could fit through.

"Thanks for the help elementals " He said gratefully since they helped to stabilize the crack so that it wouldn't go out of control.

"No problem Alvar, it's our duty to help you when needed besides you did ask us to help out." they all said at the same time.

"true, but I do hope this works." He said while taking out a silver orb that looks like it was cut in half. this orb is made to conceal the rift and also to create a second rift in a different world where the other half is." I do hope the other half made it with your soul as well Cali..." He said with concern and hope while throwing the orb into the rift.

The rift started turning purple while purple lightning started coming off of it for a min then it stopped. Meaning it stabilized and the other portal was created.

Alvar let out a sigh of relief and started grinning while the spirits went back inside the heart to rest.

Alvar took in another breath and went inside the rift, hoping that he could fulfill his promise to find her again.
