Shirou Emiya's POV
"This is it uh?... my end … I have to say, I have no regrets, I avoided the path that made Archer."
I thought as I breathed heavily and have sustained heavily injured and losing blood.
As I was about to die I still remember the promised I made with Kiritsugu that I will be a hero of justice.
I was content and live my life and tried to fulfill the dream.
Even thought It was a dream that can never be achieved, even though I'm a hypocrite, I'm already found my answer of my life.
Clang Clang Clang
I'm still remember my sword fight with my future self which got me the answer that I needed.
"It's my win…. Archer" I thought with a smirk and fell to my back and closed my eyes.
"Ehhh!?"
As I reopened my eyes, I don't felt anything in pain and found myself in a forest.
I tried to get up and I don't felt any pain and I check as all my injuries are already healed and trying to get out from the forest.
It taked me 3 days to found a city but to my surprised the city is seemed to be from medieval time.
I tried to approached the nearest gate and I could see a line of carriages and people waited for their opportunity to pass through the gate. As I joined in the queue trying to get into the city, I saw armored men with polearms stationed around the entrance and they inspected the identification of everyone entering as well as any goods they were transporting.
As I was waiting in line I saw a lot of people looking at me, which I began to inspect my own appearance. Which I noticed that my clothes were torn and had blood stain in various spots. He had only worn his usual outfit since he arrival in this world.
After I looking the around at the clothing of others nearby, I couldn't help but agree that that my appearance is the most stood out than others. I noticed a lot of glances from every now and then but I didn't mind it.
After around an hour it was finally my turn to undergo inspection. Many of the guards showed an expression of distaste of me maybe because of my appearance I thought. After asking for my identification they sent me into the side office for processing without wasting any effort.
As I was waiting in the side office, the only thing in my mind is to purchase a new outfit but the only problem is I didn't have any money or belongings as I arrived in this world. As I was waiting and saw a middle-age man with an unkempt beard stood up and facing me.
Emiya Shirou's POV ended
"Greeting young man, my name is Gregory House. I'm the Chief Customs Officer on duty today, and I heard my men that you didn't have any ID."
The man name Gregory evaluated the young man standing before him. By appearance, he had likely migrated to city from a mountain village or some rural areas. Curiously the boy didn't have any belonging which caused him to assume the boy had likely been robbed and sustained some injuries.
After his evaluation of the boy, he sighted and gave a boy a gentle smile and asked kindly, "Can I asked what for your name and why you are trying to enter the City?"
Shirou then examining the man for a few moments before answer his question.
"My name is Emiya Shirou, Sir. I came to this city because that the only city I saw as I woke up in the forest which I was knocked out by someone and when I came to realised all of my belonging has been stolen."
Shirou lied as he have to because he didn't have anything on him not to mentioned money to pay for the entrance tax.
Shirou have to lied with the story he had made up while he was waiting in the side office. Since he didn't know anything in this world, he would try to respond as vaguely as possible when questioned. He felt guilty for deceiving the man, especially he found out the man was actually friendly and didn't dislike him based on his appearences.
Hearing Shirou answers, Gregory had begun to feel bad for the boy. "You must have had it rough. I'm certain you need some help but first may I know what's your plan after you enter the City? You must known that you can't enter the city without paying an entrance tax and a temporary pass without identification would cost you 3000 Valis."
Shirou nodded and answer him. "Sir, I would like to pay but as you seen all of my belonging have been stolen."
"You don't have to worry about it kid. I just had a grandson myself born this past week, so I'm in a pretty giving mood. I'll go ahead and pay for your entrance pass and tax as long as you promise me you'll make an honest living and pay me back in the future." Gregory had seen several outsiders led astray after entering the city. He had hoped his extension of kindness would prevent the boy from treading down a shady route in the future.
Shirou was overwhelmed by the man's kindness. He could feel his eyes get a bit wet as he remember the man's name in his heart. Once he found job in a city then he will return the kindness that he received but return it with interest.
"I swear on my father name, I will never walk a path that would bring shame to their memory." Since Shirou made a promise with Kiritsugu to be a hero of justice, he could only swear his father name.
Satified with the boy response, Gregory quickly filled out the required forms before allowing him to enter the city.
Before Shirou entered the city he asked Gregory if he knew if there's a job for him as he didn't have any money.
"Well, I think it hard to register as an adventurer since you don't have any money, how about you try working at the Hostess of Fertility, it's a pub if you know how to cook?"
"Ok thanks Mr. House, I will remember the kindness you have shown me. I will do my best to meet your expectations!"
"Good luck boy, I have high expectations for you!" He waved his hand after the boy entered the city.
As he entered the city and looked the surrounding of the city and marveled at the architectural design of each building. There were people of various shapes and sizes walking around in high spirits. He even noticed there another races like elves and demi-human.
"Haah, looked like I'm in some sort of fantasy worlds. As Shirou made a tired some sight, he then walked into the middle of the city to find a pub named Hostess of Fertility.
