Chapter 19

Literature class was extremely boring. Lucy looked at Iris who was lost in her own thoughts and wasn't interested in what the literature teacher was saying.

It was merchant of Venice. She wondered why that snivelling shylock man would want a pound of flesh from Antonio if he couldn't repay the loan. She sighed wishing the day would go by quickly.

Joseph was scribbling on his notebook as if he were paying attention. She giggled and he turned to look at her. He winked at her and she rolled her eyes. Just then, his phone rang and the teacher looked at him. He rolled his eyes , biting his lower lip.

"Sorry", he said ,taking the phone and looking at the caller ID.

Dark Armour clan

"Fuck". He muttered as it rang again.

"Mr Joseph, would you like to make a short trip to the principal's office?" She asked glaring at him.

He didn't care, he had to pick the call. "No, but I have to answer it", he said and looked at her with a mischievous grin at the conner of his mouth.

"Go", she said and he scoffed leaving the class.

Before he left , he glanced at Lucy and she looked at him with a questioning look on her face. He smirked and left.

"He's insane", she muttered and looked back at the teacher.

"What the fuck is wrong with you! I'm in school for heaven's sake". He growled at the caller. "It's just that there was an attack on our pack and people are injured. You know how effective wolfsbane is on foxes", the caller said and he sighed. "Who initiated the attack?"

There was silence for a while before the caller calmly said, "It was said to be the Blue moon clan". He gritted his teeth.

That bastard clan again.

"I'll be there", he said and hung up.

Joseph frowned, holding the bridge of his nose in worry. He ran as fast as he could into the deepest part of the woods.

"Where are the injured people?" He growled as they showed him where they were. They all bowed their heads in greeting. He could see they were in pain. "Fuck Blue moon", he muttered going to an old lady and helping her tie the bandage.

"They're acting too stubborn and tough these days", the person who had called him said and he nodded in agreement.

"Something must be giving them the courage to face a clan like us"

The one who had called him, Percy, rubbed his temple in worry. He wondered what was giving them the courage to cause trouble and making them fearless. Then a thought came to him.

Cordelia.

That human beast who had been in search of the last of the morhan clan. But what would she be doing here in Nestle lake?

"Don't you think it might be Cordelia?" He whispered loud enough for Joseph to hear.

"Cordelia?" He asked, looking at Percy.

"Don't you think she's the only one who could give them that courage"

Joseph shook his head. If Cordelia was here, then why was Iris still in Nestle lake except she's unaware of it.

"Cordelia, in Nestle lake?" He asked no one in particular.

"I'll leave, I have classes to attend. Make sure you treat these people properly, especially the children". He instructed and left without another word.

The night was cool and the moon was full. It looked like the perfect night for romance. Lucy and Iris sat on the couch watching a movie.

"What was your score?" Lucy asked. "What do you mean?"Iris looked at her. "You know, the test on wuthering heights". She laughed and faced the TV. "I got an A. You?"

Lucy rolled her eyes. "B", she said and turned back to watching the movie.

"At least I'm better than Joseph. He said Heathcliff was catholic at a time and Lockwood married Hareton -" she laughed

" - like was Lockwood gay or something?" She asked rhetorically as they laughed.

There was a sudden quietness between them and Lucy said, "You know, I've been thinking"

"About what?"

"What if you use your ability to save people", she said suddenly excited. "What the fuck Lucy! Are you a kid or something"

"Nope but I know you're worried about blood. We wouldn't draw blood, just make them unconscious or something", she said and Iris shook her head.

She couldn't do it. But on a second thought it sounded exciting and if she didn't want to stay home doing nothing. "But what are we doing?" She asked, making Lucy smile and turned off the TV.

"Ever heard of this cult group that terrorised people and broke into shops to steal at night?" She asked and she shook her head. "Well you're in for something baby, let's find them and kick their asses!" She screamed jumping.

"So I should go catch some kids that steal?" She asked, raising her brows. "Fuck you" Lucy said smiling.

"They're not just kids, they're a cult that terrorises people". Iris didn't look satisfied but she nodded anyway. Anything to kill her boredom. "Sure, let's go", she said and Lucy squealed.

They got to crescent Ave. The street was strangely quiet and dark. Then they heard someone or probably people breaking into a store.

"It's them", Lucy muttered as they followed the noise. They saw some people on black covering their faces breaking int stores.

"Let's make this a little eerie, should we". Lucy nodded and they walked back into the darkness.

Thomas, the leader of the gang, was breaking into a store when he felt something touch him. "Huh? What was that?" He asked as he looked around. His followers shook their heads and hot back to what they were doing.

He felt it again and turned shouting at them to stop being creepy but they denied. This time it touched someone else. "Who touched me?!" He asked, looking at the rest.

"Show yourself!" Thomas screamed but the only thing he heard was his own voice shouting back at him. He felt the cold hand and turned quickly.

"You really want me to show myself?" Something said, its voice like that of a slow breeze.

"Fucking show yourself!" He screamed and Iris came out but they could only see a silhouette. Her eyes shown deep yellow and that was the only thing they could see… the yellow eyes.

"Who are you?" Someone asked shakily. Iris laughed menacingly. "Your worst nightmare"

"Get her!" Thomas said running towards her and so did the rest, but they didn't touch her. She hit the air and they each fell piled onto another. They stood shaking in fear but Thomas wasn't giving up, he lunged at her with an axe and she dodged using her leg to smack him down. She sensed she had injured him and her sense of smell was becoming stronger.

Iris smirked though they couldn't see her face. She had a siren from not too far away and decided it was time to leave. Lucy came out of nowhere and dragged her. " They're here!"

"Freeze!" The police said as they took to their heels laughing.

"You hit them hard!" Lucy exclaimed as they ran to somewhere safe.

"The leader, he was bleeding", Iris said and she shook her head. "It's good that it didn't take the better part of you".

"Yeah right"

Iris sat on the roof drinking straight from the bottle. She thought about her life and figured she hadn't done anything fun until now. The stars were out and smiling down at her.

"Zach would call it hope",she murmured and smiled back at them. She remembered the first time she bit Jacob and closed her eyes.

Her mind travelled back in time… five hundred years before… when she was running from Cordelia and came into Paris, France.
