Immortal: [Adjective]: Living forever; never dying or decaying.

He pressed the search bar and typed, 'Benefits of Immortality' on his smartphone. Clicking on sites and sources, he deducted that there wasn't any really benefit to it. 'Leaving behind friends and family, huh? Well, it eventually happens anyways so what's the big deal..?'

You only know how much somethings hurts after experiencing it.

He got up with a sigh as he placed his phone in his pocket and putting on his bookbag. Pushing his chair in, he walked up to the counter and to the lady with a bag in her hands. "Order number 213?" She questioned while tilting her head.

He simply nodded, showed her his order receipt and with an affirmative nod from her, was handed his bag. "Uh, sir. Your food might be cold now, considering I've been calling out your number for the last 3 minutes.."

She said sort of agitated, hoping to cause some sort of empathy in him which would surely make him apologize, but.. "You...you didn't have to wait though. Nobody asked you to wait and call out my order number for three straight minutes. Not my fault.."

She 'tsked' and before she could retaliate completely, he did something unexpected which lightened her mood. "But, I do apologize. You're just doing your job as the employee and I should've did mine as the customer.."

He was monotone about it, but she still felt how genuine he was which brightened her mood. "Thank you sir. Please come again." And with the best business smile she could muster, she waved him off as he put earphones in and walked out the store.

Clay. Clay Ozerden. He's 16 years old and in high school. With an average height and an average build, he lives a normal life with caring parents and a recently born baby sister. Clay enjoys life as he thinks it's perfect.

No problems, no quarrels, no anything. He prays every night for the life God gave him. 'But things...' He began to think to himself at a crossroad, pressing a button that was supposed to yield him to walk sooner or later.

'But things...are a little...too boring...' The light for cars were red and so he was now able to walk across with the green light on the lamppost of the yield button. 'Though maybe it's becuase I'm not engaged in anything. Like, I can do so much more, but then again, I'm too lazy~... My one and only weakness..'

He had this habit of closing his eyes when sighing and so when he did, for that second or two, he could neither hear, because of the earphones, or see, because of his closed eyes.

The rustling of tires. The screams of bystanders. And then....

Pain?

Thrown several meters into the air at speeds faster than the rampaging truck that hit him. Clay's body whizzed around and into the window shield of another speeding car which carried him for a moment before braking and throwing him off then onto the soft cement several more feet.

'Soft? I can... I'm still...alive?' He could feel his conciousness slowly drifting away. 'I...can't feel anything~...' He had bones sticking out his being as blood slowly started creeping from underneath him. 'Ringing, Ringing, Ringing... Sirens? Vision already black, but it's getting blacker...? I just wanna....sleep...'

The lady at the counter was the first person to go up to him, crying and shouting. Around his age, she couldn't bare to see someone around the same age group as hers in this condition.

'Mom and dad~...' Blood and lack of oxygen was suffocating him. He was literally choking on it, but atleast he couldn't feel it. 'I don't think...I can make it out of this one~... Hehe...' He knew he sounded cringey and that made him laugh.

He kept laughing like that inside of his head, but then, 'Eve...' His baby sister appeared in his mind which made him go from spirited to serious just like that. 'Dying now...means not seeing you grow up~.... No, no, no, no, no...' He kept repeating in his head on a loop.

'That's...not fair~...' 3 months old. The most precious thing he's laid his eyes on. He swore to protect her from everything til the day he dies. 'I haven't even gotten a chance to...! Come on...'

They say desire is what drives a lot of people. Money, fame, power. You'd do anything to get what you want in life. If all what Clay wanted was to protect his sister, then who said death could stop him?

'Come on...' He tried moving his body but stopped almost immediately at the sharp, unexpected pain he felt. That pain made him fear, that pain made him remember that he was only human and could only do so much.

Before he could even fight, he....gave up.

'Immortality. The act of not dying. If I couldn't die, then I'd be able to protect her. Hell, a lot of people, couldn't I? I'd be like a hero. Got a long way to go before that though, I guess...'

The paramedics, who just arrived, hurriedly kneeled down and felt a pulse. A smile showed upon his face as he nodded towards his companion.

That smile then turned grave as he felt it end. He cursed at that, flipping the kids body over on his back and placing his hand on the bloodied chest.

His other hand went over the hand on the chest and then he started pushing with force. He kept pushing, but the inexperienced paramedic was only worsening things.

'God, atleast in my next life, make my junk a little bigger, please...?'

His final thought.
