It's the perfect word when life just won't give you a break. I slog through my 9-to-5 at some no-name company, barely scraping together enough to cover the rent.

As usual, I'm walking with my eyes glued to my phone. Not the smartest idea, I know. The last thing I remember is the blinding light from a set of headlights.

Truck-kun never misses his timing. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I always thought it'd be cool to get isekai'd, but I knew better. Fantasy is fantasy for a reason. It's one of the most popular tropes in novels, manga, and anime for a reason—because it's not real.

I can't see anything, but I can feel it. The cold, wet earth clings to my body. Body? I don't have arms or legs. The soil wraps around me like a suffocating blanket. I should move. My body shortens and lengthens in response. What have I become? Everyone reading this probably knows by the title, but I'm still in denial. There's no way this is real, right? I have to be dreaming. I just need to sleep it off. Tomorrow, I need to wake up early for work.

As I drift into a sleep-like state, I feel myself curl into a slimy, coiled ball. That jolts me awake. I wanted to be isekai'd, sure, but not like this. I wanted to be overpowered, not a pebble on the side of the road. Wishing won't change anything now. I've reincarnated as an earthworm in another world. At least, I hope it's another world.
