After losing both her parents at the tender age of eighteen, Olivia Pearson has a hard time opening up to people. She joins the police force and works the ranks up to homicide detective. Her professional life is nearly faultless, her personal life is one of alcoholism and depression. Something unexplained draws her back to Newburgh – back where her life fell to pieces eight years ago.
She did not know that accepting a new job as a cold case detective back home would cause her falling-in-love, gaining a fun-loving gay best friend, and being kidnapped.
But who is out for revenge?
While Olivia solves cases, she is constantly accosted by the handsome Detective Daniels, but the problem was, she didn’t date co-workers – as a rule. Well, that only lasted until she met Homicide Detective Mason Riley. She struggled with her attraction to him and cursed her own rules. But later, after a dangerous hostage situation she found herself in, neither can fight the attraction any longer and they share a passionate night. However, her past wouldn’t allow her to be happy. Later, her alcohol addiction would cost her, her new best friend, Kat, and the man she became dependent on.
Alone and miserable, she focused on her work but has a hard time solving a particular case until a piece of evidence comes forward which links the murder back to her past. And ultimately lands her in a revenge plot that becomes a life and death situation.
