Persuasion

Behind the newly built building of Seirin Highschool. Classes was stopped momentarily for break, Male students talked to each other while the females looked out the window, something caught their eyes. Outside the classes windows was an outside basketball court, occupied by someone.

Tall, lean boy was bouncing the ball between his hands. His moves were fluent and swift, there wasn't any flaw in his dribbling. Legs slightly parted, basketball above his forehead, the ball was flicked from the boys left wrist and arched up before dropping smoothly in the basket.

Female students looked from their seats with hearts in their eyes. It only intensified when he turned around to hatred of the opposite sex in their classes.

All the males cursed the boy's look. Sides shaven clean, his gray messy hair constantly moved by the gust of wind. Peirce on his left eye brow, it enhanced his bad boy demeanour. His unique silver eyes went to the female students briefly before going back to dribbling

They briefly showed annoyance and irritation. This seemed to not faze the girls gazing at him in awe and love, yet caused it to increase.

"Seriously, why does he always make a scene." Brown hair and brown eyes girl sighed with an irritated smile.

She was Riko Aida, daughter of a sports trainer and manger of Seirin Basketball Club. Cause of her background and experience, Riko had the ability to look at one's body to evaluate their potential and physical attributes.

'Why couldn't he say yes, If we had him last year we would of been able to go further in the inter-high and possibly make the winter cup!'

Riko was infuriated at Kody, as much as she wanted to rant at him. She couldn't, he was overall one the most talented prospect she has saw, probably thee best.

Thankfully, the first years this time had talent. "Kagami Taiga, Kuroko Tetsuya..." Her mind wondered to the two new Juniors, A Tall Red haired boy and a small blue haired one.

Kagami Taiga was similar to Kody, Riko realized this. When she used her special ability, Kagami's talents wasn't shown just like the grey haired male. As for Kuroko, he was an odd player and seemingly talentless. All his stats were low even among the weak.

Despite this, Kuroko had something that others didn't. She noticed this while watching, Kuroko's passes were unexpected and incredible. The passes always leaded to a point on the board.

Riko saw potential in Seirin Basketball Club. She had another 2 unique players that would help her and the team arrive at the top.

"All I need to do is try and persuade Kody-san... But only if that was easier said than done." Riko twirled her pen in her hand and looked at the back of Kody.

When she did, Kody hesitated which led him to a cross than behind the back. When he got the ball in his right hand, the tall man drived with unnatural amount of speed. His control of the ball was simply scary, it seem almost as if the ball was working together with him.

*Bang*

Left hand cocked back, he was in the air and just like that, Kody smashed down his hand with authority. Female students squealed in the typical Fan girl way.

Riko saw the ball go immediately high in the air once it hit the ground. She didn't need to watch this display to evaluate her decision.

Seated on a bench, twirling the ball on his finger, Kody saw Riko approach from afar. He waited for her to come closer before asking.

"What are you doing here?"

She just smiled at him, something which she rarely did Infront of him. "Is there a problem?" Kody quirked his eye up, her voice was too sweet.

She sat down beside him. No words were spoken, Kody seemed rather amused at this. "Sooo... Are you Joi-"

"No."

Shut down without a second passing, Riko body trembled before jumping up, anger exploding out of her.

"Why are you soo determined to not play! you are clearly talented at Basketball." She couldn't hold it in anymore, Riko steered down at him.

Kody steered back, he gritted his teeth and squeezed out. "You do not understand..." Not thinking, Riko spoke out of impulse. "What don't I understand!"

Finally getting off the bench, his towering figure overshadowed her. Kody was 6'4 and full of muscle, while Riko was only 5'1 and had barely no muscle. Despite this, Riko showed no fear.

Riko couldn't care, she wouldn't let her guard down but it seemed she might off pissed Kody off. He gripped her collar, she almost felt her feet being lifted off the ground.

"I put blood, sweat and tears on the court for what! To be Abandoned!?! How could you possibly understand when you haven't been thrown away from the sport you dearly love because of jealous people!"

Riko was left without nothing to say, honestly, Kody's enraged expression told her everything. She didn't experience being pushed away from something she loved because of other people's greed.

"You express like every other manger and coach about how teamwork and friendship is key to become a good team! Where is the teamwork and friendship in that Huh!"

This time, Riko gazed back at him, her eyes were focused and serious. "That isn't a team then." Outwardly Kody didn't react, yet inside her words were sharp and stabbed him.

"Come to the game tomorrow, I promise after you've watched it, you'll be begging to come back" Kody weighed down his options, in the end, he decided to give her a chance.

"I'll come and watch, if you aren't all talk I might think about joining..." Kody swung his blazer over his shoulder and started to leave, Not before glancing back.

".... You'd better be correct..."

Riko faced his departing back, she had full confident in her new squad, it was important to win but if she could get the approval of Kody. Than, that would make it better than any win.

•••

Kody exited the school, outside in plain sight was an expensive black Rolls Royce. He sighed at this and walked towards the expensive vehicle.

Entered without problems, he looked at the person in the driving seat. "How has your day been Master Kody?" An old voice asked gently.

A small smile developed on his face. "It's been alright, what about you Charles?" Charles smiled at the rare view mirror. He had gray hair, not natural but from old age.

"I've been good Master Kody." Charles answered in assurance. Kody was glad, he didn't want to feel like a burden for his father-figure.

It wasn't as if he didn't have a father but because Kody never really saw his old man that much. All his time went towards his older sister and brother, being youngest and problematic of the siblings didn't help either.

He turned to the side and looked out. Kody's was yet again angered, this time at his family, that's if you could call it that.

His relationship between his brother and sister was shaky, his father he hadn't saw loads of and could be count on one hand as for his mother, she was the only person he could call family.

Kody's mother tried dearly to give as much love for two parents because of his father's lack of parentage. Of course as a young boy he wanted to gain his father's attention, but, the bastard didn't even give him a glance.

To put fuel on the already hot stove, his brother and sister actually grew up with both parents. This made him jealous.

His thoughts changed over time. Now Kody couldn't give fucks about his old man, his mother was the only thing he needed.

"Master Kody?" Charles voice broke Kody out of his thought. "Yes Charles?" His head changed to look at Charles.

Charles knew the emotions building inside of Kody. He could read the young lad like a book. "Is it about your family again?"

Kody just proved his hunch by his actions, froze and fists tightening, Kody's knuckles were turning white from anger.

Charles said reassuringly. "Your father is a busy man, I know his lack of presence affected you but try not anger yourself over something that's already happened. Think of the future."

He finally took a couple of deep breaths before repeating in his head. 'Charles's is correct, it's already happened, I don't need to get angry over something so insignificant'

Slowly getting his anger under control, he unclenched his hands. "Thanks Charles. Seriously what would I do without you." Charles chuckled. "That's why I'm here young master."

Charles and Kody talked to each other before getting to their destination. 10 minutes of chatting and finally they were outside a big house. Two floor building with huge fence going all around the property. At the back was a full sized court including a garden and porch.

"We're here Young Master?" Charles opened Kody's door for him. Stepped from out the car, Kody gave a small thank before heading towards his house.

Kody walked through the gates and opened the door, he didn't need to think before heading to his bedroom so he could get gym clothes.

Once he was done, Kody dressed in a Lakers jersey, black sports shorts and back leg compression directly went towards the court at his back garden.

Charles stopped him in his track before he could get to it, he had a box in hand. "Young Master, before you leave, your mother wanted you to open this." Kody just looked at the box, but in the end decided to open it.

The Box wasn't your normal cardboard box. It's box was made out of dark wood and a Nike tick on the top of it. When Kody opened, in it was a pair of new Nike Zoom Blur and an also new Black arm sleeve.

Kody felt warmed by his mother's action, it was like she knew what he needed no matter where he was. "Charles, send my thanks to mother. As don't forget a love you from me."

His Old butler chuckled and bowed before leaving to do as such. Kody didn't take no time before putting the arm sleeve on, as for the shoes... They were set aside, he wasn't planning to ruin them on anything but a proper basketball court.

Once Kody set his feet on the court, a wave of familiarity covered him. Every time he stepped on a court, it felt like he belonged here and only here. This reaction was caused by one of his abilities that he found out at a young age. As Such, he named it.

[Union -

An Ability to Harmonious with all 5 senses, so much so, that it feels like you are cooperating with them. All 5 senses are boosted significantly once adrenaline kicks in. This is a passive skill.]

This wasn't the only ability he had that made his game style possible, as well as so different to other basketball players.

[Adaptable Physique -

An Physique that would make anyone jealous. Your body has naturally been born talented with yourself being faster, stronger and more durable compared to the rest. Body control is easy but the downside of this ability is an increase in nutrients.]

[Rebel -

Like the rest of you, you are unique. Especially your eyes, they are the apex of power, making you able to counter and copy any power/technique at the same time for 30 minutes. And same as your Adaptable Physique, it has a downside. Blurry vision.]

Kody noticed these abilities when he was young especially Rebel, only because of his mother. She realized Kody was special since at a young age when he would seemingly run everywhere and faster than children his age.

His Rebel eye appeared when he was 12 after his father decided to send him off to Japan expecting him it to increase his grades. Kody mother before sending him off saw his eyes, they were different.

He was only able to have access to them when his emotions became more radical. Yet recently he could somehow activate it but put more strain on his eyes.

All throughout his career as a basketball player, Kody never used Rebel, he just didn't have the means to and never wanted to rely on it. Kody's pride wouldn't allow him to and was his trump card in case of emergency.

The Question is, will Seirin prove him wrong and finally lit up his hopes of playing with a team again. He hoped so inside, yet he couldn't put too much hope into such a thing. Everyone is selfish behind their exterior.
