1. College Fair

HEATHER

Crap, I'm late.

"Thea you coming?!" My best friend, Jane called from her car as I stumbled around my house with a shoe in one hand, my bag in the other and a waffle in my mouth.

"Coming!" I shouted as my dad came out of the kitchen.

"Thea darling be careful." He said as he walked passed me and opened the front door

"Sorry dad, I'm going to be late and Jane isn't exactly helping the situation right now." I huffed as I tied my shoelaces.

When did this become so hard?

"Alright sweetheart. Alex will be there at..." He glanced at his watch briefly then looked up at me. "1 pm. He has a few meetings but he'll be there." He said and I smiled at him.

"Alright then. I'll see tonight. Love you!" I said kissing his cheek and waved at him before closing the door behind me and running towards a very impatient Jane.

"Calm down Jane I'm here." I said buckling my seatbelt, making her glare at me.

"Calm down my ass. You were the one who told me to come early." She huffed and started driving.

"I know and I'm sorry, but I overslept. Thank god dad woke me up." I told her and bit into my waffle.

Oh this shit is good.

"Want some?" I asked her but she sighed and shook her head.

"I'm just glad it'll all be over today and we can finally get some much needed rest. Especially you. You look like a literal zombie right now and your bright blue eyes are so dull." She said as we pulled up in our college's parking lot.

Tell me about it.

"I know. I'm just really tired." I said running a hand over my face and getting out of the car.

"Heather! Finally you're here!" Matt, another friend of ours came running up to us. We gave each other a quick hug and walked in after I apologized for oversleeping.

"Don't worry, you can sleep peacefully tonight knowing it's over." Matt said as I arranged the tables in the large lawn of our college.

"Yeah. I honestly can't wait." I sighed as I looked around at all the stalls and then my checklist.

"Well that'll be all, I guess." Jane said coming over to us with a smile.

"Do you have anything for us Thea?" Matt asked me and I looked around once more until my gaze fell to the stage and I pointed at it.

"There. Check if the sound system is all set up and those decorations are a bit crooked." I told Matt who gave me a salute before running off towards the stage and I turned to Jane.

"Can you check with the caterers? For the organizers lunch and for the snacks at the fair?" I asked her and she nodded.

"Yeah don't worry about that. What are you going to do?" She asked me and I pulled out my phone from my back pocket and glanced at the time.

"It's time to start the fair so please collect the people at the stalls and I'll handle the guests of honor. That okay with you?" I asked her.

"Yeah I'll do that, and before I forget, you did bring spare clothes, right?" She narrowed her eyes at me because she knew me too well.

If it was up to me, I'd meet the guests and everyone else in the jeans and t-shirt I was wearing right now because I didn't give a shit about my appearance when my mind was literally crumbling over. Hell, I'd attend the organizers lunch in these if I could.

But, I can't.

"Yes, mom." I told her rolling my eyes and she smiled at me.

"Good, now get going and for the love of god, make Olivia do something other than taking photos." She said and I groaned.

"Just let her be. It's not like she'll actually listen." I said and waved Jane goodbye before heading to the principal's office. I knocked on the door twice before I heard a 'come in' and I made my way inside.

"Ah, Heather! How can I help? Mr. Brown, our principal and headmaster of the college, asked me. Good thing he's a fun and jolly person to be around or I'd loose my shit right now.

Not that I wasn't already.

"Yes, I wanted the contact numbers for the guests of honor so I could confirm their arrival." I said taking seat across the large wooden desk and placed my bag beside me.

"Yes, of course, I have them here somewhere." He said looking around in his drawers until he pulled out a paper.

"Here you go, you can make calls from your phone and you can sit in here if you want, I have some things to take care of anyway." He said.

"Will do. Thank you." I told him and gave him my megawatt smile, making him smile too in return and he left a few seconds later. I sighed and looked through the contact list.

"Alright, we have a Lorenzo Salvatore, Gabriel Angelo, Maria Angelo and a Roman Angelo. Shouldn't be too hard. Just a few calls to some really rich and powerful people." I told myself as I dialed the first number, that belonged to Lorenzo.

The man picked up at the third ring and I too a deep breath when I heard the deep masculine voice.

"Lorenzo Salvatore." He said.

"Hi, I'm calling to confirm when you'll be arriving at the Kingston college for the annual fair." I said and heard a some papers being moved around until the man on the other end spoke.

"Uh yeah we're on our way, it'll take us 30 minutes." He said and I sighed in relief.

"Thank you for confirming Mr. Salvatore, It was a pleasure talking to you. Have a safe journey." I said and hung up.

"Now that wasn't so hard, was it?" I said to myself as I dialed the next number, for Gabriel Angelo.

"Gabriel Angelo speaking." He said and I cleared my throat.

"Hi, I'm calling to confirm when you'll be arriving at the Kingston college for the annual fair."

"Yes I'll be there with my wife in half an hour." He said and I looked at the contact sheet.

"Is Ms. Maria Angelo your wife?" I asked him.

"Yes. we'll be there soon." He said and I sighed in relief once again.

"Okay thank you so much for your time. Have a safe journey." I replied and hung up.

Three down, one to go.

I looked at Roman Angelo's name for a few seconds and frowned when I realized has number wasn't there, when Mr. Brown came back in followed by Jane.

"Everything confirmed?" He asked me as he sat down in his chair and Jane sat next to me.

"Yes sir, I've confirmed with them all except Mr. Roman Angelo. His number isn't here." I told him showing the sheet and he nodded.

"Ah, yes. He doesn't share his number around but he'll be here considering everyone else is since they're all family." He said and looked at Jane, handing her a few papers.

"Look these over and hand them to my assistant when you're done." He told her and she nodded before we left the office.

"What was that?" I asked Jane, gesturing to the papers in her hand.

"Oh these are the budget copies for the fair." She said and I nodded as we rounded a corner and walked into the bathroom to change.

"So Roman Angelo huh?" She said suddenly and I looked at her confused.

"What about him?" I asked her as I pulled my black pants up and tucked my silky blue button down in them. It matched my eyes, so I got it because I absolutely adore the color blue.

"He's the guest speaker. You didn't know?" She asked me and I could practically hear the disbelief in her voice.

"No, I knew that but why are you asking about him?"

"Oh my god, don't tell me you don't know who the Roman Angelo is." She said as she walked out of the stall in a black dress.

"You look nice, and no, I don't know who he is. What's the big deal anyway? I heard some girls talking about it a few days ago." I asked her as I buckled my belt in my pants and opened the first two buttons of my shirt and fixed the silky collar.

"Thanks hun, you look sexy too. And wow, when was the last time you actually thought about something other than the college fair?" She asked me as she fetched out her makeup kit rom her bag.

"I don't remember honestly." I sighed as I brushed my fingers through my straightened hair that I managed to do in a small ten minute break a while ago.

"Just so you know, Roman Angelo is like, the it guy. I mean, he has it all. The looks, the money, the cars, the house, everything. You name it, he has it. Women fall at his feet, and some men too. And I heard he's quite intimidating and scary too. But that doesn't matter as long a he's hot and rust me, he is." She explained it all in one breath while I struggled with my eyeliner.

I swear trying to put on perfect eyeliner is literally like fighting a war.

"Good to know. I guess. I just don't understand why he's the main topic of every conversation." I sighed in relief as I finished my eyeliner and reached for my cherry lip gloss while Jane gave me a look.

"Did you not hear what I just said? He's hot, like sun, hot. Like Greek-god, hot, like-.."

Jeez.

"Okay fine I get it, he's hot. " I cut her off but she just shook her head.

"You're lucky you'll be escorting the guests today. I bet Olivia would want to take over your job in escorting." Jane said and I nodded.

"Yeah, not that I'd let her." I agreed with her and proceeded to slip on my ankle high black boots which had a two inch heel to them, then quickly stuffed my old clothes back in my bag.

"I'm ready. Are you?" I asked Jane who was now putting on her lipstick.

"Yup almost done. you sure you don't want to put on some makeup?′ She asked me holding out a makeup brush but shook my head.

"Nah, I'm fine with eyeline and gloss." I said and she rolled her eyes playfully.

"Well you look beautiful anyways aaaand look at the time." She said glancing at her phone and I did too and my eyes widened.

"Oh crap I have to escort the guests!" I said quickly grabbing my things.

I can't believe I'm running late. Again.
