Prologue: Krydia’s Sin

"I am terribly sorry for my tardiness." Varmis bows her head slightly as she approaches Krydia.

"I don't want to hear any excuses," Krydia responds sharply as she walks past Varmis. Today is the celebration of the Fire Festival and as one of the major goddesses, Krydia's presence is required. However, Krydia is forbidden to leave her manor without an escort.

"I have no excuses." A small but sweet grin draws on Varmis' face. Varmis has always wanted to meet the goddess of darkness. It is known that she has the greatest beauty of all time, even greater than the seventh goddess of light, Varmis' own mother.

"This way." Varmis leads Krydia to her small boat on the shore. Krydia lives on an island in the middle of the Sea of Stars. According to the Sun Emperor's decree, it was to protect Krydia and everyone else from her uncontrollable power, but Varmis knew the real reason.

"The Sea of Stars is beautiful!" Varmis tries to make a small conversation with Krydia again. Krydia has been mostly silent since they left her island. "I am envious that you have such a beautiful view."

Krydia turns her head to look at Varmis. She looks just like her mother. Krydia can still remember what that wrenched woman looked like even though she only saw her once during her parents' funeral. "Is that so?"

Varmis smiles, just glad that Krydia spoke to her in more than just a yes or no answer. Varmis dips her fingertips into the surface of the Sea and admires its shimmering stars. "It would be nice to have something like this at my place."

A sudden idea occurs to Krydia. Krydia smiles maliciously, "Why not take one with you?"

"Can I?" Varmis perks up, her voice filling with excitement.

"Of course," Krydia is slightly entertained, "I'm not stopping you."

Varmis reaches her hand more profoundly into the Sea as the stars weave between her pale and slender fingers. Just as Varmis begins to think that she can befriend Krydia, Krydia raises her hand on Varmis and pushes her into the Sea.
