Book One: Echoes of the Detective

"Echoes of the Detective" is a captivating time-travel mystery that unravels the enigmatic tale of Alex Hartley, a modern-day young adult who stumbles upon an extraordinary brass timepiece in their family's dusty attic. This seemingly ordinary artifact holds the power to transport Alex through time, into the body of Ethan Collins, a detective from the 19th century. As Alex grapples with this inexplicable phenomenon, they find themselves navigating the unfamiliar streets of a bygone era. The gaslit lamps, horse-drawn carriages, and bustling townsfolk become their new reality, and their modern voice transforms into the language of another century. What makes this tale truly extraordinary is the revelation of a unique digital window that only Alex, or Ethan's persona within them, can see. This window displays vital information from the past, including a date, September 14, 1898, and a set of statistics detailing Ethan's detective skills, historical knowledge, and an unsolved murder case that has plagued the town for decades. Caught in the crossroads of two lifetimes, Alex must unravel the mysteries of both their own era and the 19th century. The clock is ticking, both in the present and the past, as they endeavor to solve the long-standing murder case, understand the secrets of the timepiece, and find a way to return to their own time. "Echoes of the Detective" is a mesmerizing journey through time, blending the allure of historical fiction with the intrigue of a detective thriller. Alex's character evolves as they embrace the challenges of the past and the complexities of a murder investigation. With the enigmatic timepiece as their guide, they must unlock the secrets of two centuries, forging a connection between past and present. This novel appeals to young adult readers aged 13 to 16, offering a unique blend of time travel, mystery, and historical intrigue. Join Alex on a gripping adventure as they traverse through the echoes of a detective's life, ultimately unraveling the enigma of the timepiece and their own place in history.

The Quran and Modern Science

Today, one may be a highly educated citizen of a wealthy, modern society with the internet at one’s fingertips. However, in order to begin to understand the extraordinary content within in the Quran, one must transport one’s self back hundreds of years to a time (e.g., around 610-632 CE) and place where “science” barely existed. Furthermore, Prophet Muhammad’s birthplace was in one of the most backward places of the world at that time. If you who have been fortunate enough to travel, perhaps you have even traveled to one of the rapidly disappearing places on our globe that has been relatively untouched by the modern world. If so, you might begin to have some sense of the world at an earlier time. Alternatively, perhaps you have studied the history of the world at a much earlier time. That, too, would help you to appreciate how different that time and world was. Changing your mindset to a different time and place can help you appreciate how extraordinarily it would be to find some of the Quranic material in such a place and time, especially since the Quran appears to emanate from an illiterate man. Much scientific information we take for granted these days, simply did not exist (or was incorrect) in earlier times and places. So readjust your mindset to a different time and place so that you can more fully appreciate the following… EMBROYOLOGY Context: While today people have a good understanding of reproduction, this has not always been the case. For example, do you know that the theory of “spontaneous generation” held sway for a time? The idea was that things like maggots would “spontaneously” appear on meat. Of note, Pasteur conclusively demonstrated that the theory was false by running controlled experiments during the 19th century CE. How about the theory of “preformationism?”1 The general idea was that, for example, a human was fully preformed as a “homunculus” i.e. a miniature human. Then this miniature human simply grew with time into an adult. The idea gained much strength under people like Nicolaas Hartsoeker in 1694 CE (before eventually being replaced by competing idea of epigenesis2’ due to Ritter von Baer’s discovery of the mammalian ovum (egg) in 1827 CE. and also due to the Hans Driesch experiments of the late 19th century CE. Sure a lot of this stuff sounds absurd, but the point is that things that are obvious to us now may not necessarily always have been. It helps to understand that, in order to more fully appreciate this section. Ok,on to embryology. Here are some Quranic verses and their commentaries that deal with human embryology. “Sulalah”

Rise of Dutch Empire.

raveling to the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the 1860s, he became the Crown Prince of the Netherlands William Hendrick (full name Willem Alexander Nicholas Frederick Karel Hendrick), Prince of Orange. He didn’t want to work hard to join the war-torn 19th century European hegemony. He just wanted to be a crown prince with peace of mind until William III abdicated in 1890. He even made up his mind whether to directly Forget about leading the Netherlands to be a neutral country, spend a little time and experience the leisurely life of the upper class of the nobles in this era, it is worthwhile to come here for a while. But the reality is ‘cruel’. His father, William III, was dissatisfied with Tolbek’s re-election as prime minister of the Netherlands because of the weakening of the royal power. So a ridiculous scene appeared. Before forming a new cabinet, Erbec took the first step. On December 1, 1861, he directly announced that the throne would be passed on to his eldest son, William Hendrick, who was the Grand Duke of Luxembourg, and his younger son, William Frederick, who was born in 1851, became the Grand Duke of Luxembourg. The heir, and after William Hendrick became King of the Netherlands, he took Queen Sophie and William Frederick to Luxembourg. With such a ‘prominent’ background, how could William Hendrick live those small days? So in desperation, I can only directly accept the mess left by William III and clean up the mess. William Hendrick smiled bitterly: “Okay, I admit that I need to face the threat of European powers.”
