Chapter Two

Searching in the unknown for a shelter or somewhere I could sleep. If i kept going at it the way I am I'd pass out. Tiring myself out was not the answer and I knew I had to rest but my mind was telling me not to. What if I slept and they'd find me. They'll send me back to that hell hole where all the women was gathering their packages to be sold to their customers.

I was not cut out for that job. It wasn't something I knew how to do, standing at a table in nothing but underwear, putting all the drugs in a juice container was definitely something that I thought would never happen to me. Not only did they force me to do those things, they used us.

We didn't even get paid for our labour, well technically we got paid with food and maybe some cleaning supplies. "Miss you can't sleep here" a police office says as he looks at me in an awkward way. I felt embarrassed to be standing in front of a police officer looking like a hooker.

"Point me to shelter then kind sir" I demanded with an annoyed tone. Why is it that these officers always demand from us to do things we do not want to do and why do they not see that all us people are just looking for safety. Oh my gosh I just referred myself as a beggar and I was no beggar.

"Uh could you tell me which country we in?" I question the Officer who introduced himself as Officer Cal. What a strange name.

"Ma'mam you're in Cali" he explains as I erupted into laughter thinking he was making a joke but then he gave me a stern look. He leaves me at the front door of a homeless shelter and walks off.

"Wiat Officer Cal we really are in Cali aren't we?" I shout in his direction making him stop and turn around. "Ma'mam I know it amuses you that my name's Cal but I wouldn't lie this is really California" he says with a smirk and looks me from head to toe then walks off.

I'm not sure if it is even appropriate for a police officer to be checking me out but I guess it's whatever. The homeless shelter wasn't what I expected it to be, it looked so neat and clean and the homeless didn't look homeless at all. I found an empty bed and made my way to it.

The thunder rumbled sounding like it was tearing the sky apart. It matched my feelings perfectly. Tossing and turning underneath the sheets, I couldn't find sleep. Maybe just maybe i should have continue walking. I made my way to the bathroom to clean myself up, fixing my hair and putting on the clothes the kind woman gave me at the door. I wasn't sure if I should leave, eventually someone will find me.

Waiting out the storm as I read a newspaper article. There was still nothing about me being missing in it not that it was a suprise. I thought maybe my landlord would have noticed that my apartment was vacant but even he did not care. The thunder did not stop until morning and I had no much rest because I waited it out.

Not to long I found myself walking outside in the nearest forest. The light fell from the sky and shattered into a million pieces making this place ten times more beautiful. As I walked on a pathway that led me to a lake deep in the woods coming upon a clearing where a man in an immaculate tuxedo was standing looking out to the lake.

I wanted to ask him for help I wanted to ask for guidance. He did look harmless maybe even lost so what I did best was walk away. As I was walking away I took the same path again, having a strange feeling someone was following me. I turned around to find the guy in the tuxedo looking back at me.

"Alexis!" he shouted out of breathe confusing me. I wanted to stop to ask what he wanted to ask how he knew me but I knew better than to talk to strangers. "Alexis don't go that way you'll get caught!" he demanded me with a panicked voice and that's when I stopped and turned around again walking towards the guy. When I came face to face with him I then noticed who he was and I couldn't help but feel relief even if he was the reason why I was in this situation in the first place.

"Ive gone crazy looking all over for you" he whispers with relief then cups my face and leans his forehead against mine. It was odd to say the least. I didn't understand why he was worried about me and why he showed such affection. As if he was reading my thoughts he pushes himself away from me and smoothes out his tuxedo acting as if nothing happened a few seconds ago.

"Cara needs you and you just left her" he exclaimed with disapproval surprising me that he even knew the little girl's name. I was so stupid to leave her behind, I thought of myself and ran away leaving Cara behind. "Im taking you back" he said dragging me with him by the wrist. I Tried to break free from his grip as he was hurting me. He looked back at me and sighed then let go of me, lifting my wrist up to check if he had done any damage to it.

"No please don't take me back. Please" I beg of him as I pulled backwards causing him to crash and fall on top of me. He held his body weight up with his arm and we stayed like this for what seems like hours just looking into each others eyes, tears flowing down my face. "If I don't take you back my mom will kill me" he states confusing me even more. What does his mother have to do with all of this? "Your mother?" I asked looking at him with an annoyed expression as I tried pushing him off me but he was too damn strong.

"Yes my mother" he recalls as if he was leaking information that he shouldn't. He stood up dusting the dirt off him then held his hand out to help me up. I took his hand because I knew better than to protest it.

"They don't have to know you let me go" I explained trying to convince him not to take me back to that dreadful place even though I knew that Cara was still there in need of me. I could just help her escape after I get things together and of cause a place to stay.

The guy who's name I still don't know looks at me frustratedly as he grazes his fingers in his hair. I noticed that he does that a lot when his in a situation or when he can't come to a decision. "Well I could take you home with me." he says with a low voice looking at me with uncertainty.

I don't know if I could trust him, he could change his mind and take me back to that awful place. It's not safe to be around him but I know I would be safe with him. "You can call me James" he exclaimed walking further away from me. As we were walking a tall figure came into view. I tried making myself scares but the person already saw me.

"Thank God you found her." the other guy says as he came walking towards us. I remember his face so clearly, he was one of the other guys that kidnapped me. I saw him that night on the boat with James. "We not taking her back Mitch" James explains as he grabs hold of my hand holding it in his. "Dude your mom will kill me if I told her I let you guys go." The guy named Mitch says as he closes the distance between James an I. James and Mitch seems like they have known each other for some time now and I could see how strong their bond was.

"I said no Mitch!" James roared with anger making me flinch, he noticed how frightened I've become at his change of tone and then he looks at me with an apologetic expression. What happened next, neither James or I saw that it was coming.

James was doubled over in front of me, the punch took both him and I by suprise. It has caught us off guard and he cursed himself for it. Mitch however was so relentless that he swung another punch towards James's head. Instinctively James blocked the punch and then countered with an upward punch to Mitch's neck. James watched Mitch stagger backwards violently coughing.

"Mitch I'm sorry." James forgives Mitch after what had just happened. I knew their bond was strong. "fine. Cough. I'll stall." Mitch says looking towards me with hatred in his eyes. Did he honestly hate me so much? He barely even knew me.
