A game of spin the bottle wasn’t supposed to change my life. I wanted to get out of our small town, and the only way to do that was to get good grades. I didn't want to get distracted by anyone or anything, but I couldn't seem to ignore Liam. He was sexy, moody, and about to become my stepbrother. Exactly the kind of trouble I should have avoided. But I let my hair down for a party in the woods; a couple of girls and guys playing spin the bottle and truth or dare. Silly games shouldn't change your life but sometimes fate steps in. It's nearly graduation and I'm closing my eyes, thinking that I can't deal with having one surprise today, let alone two. Chapter 30

I was home alone when the doorbell rang. I perked up because I was bored by myself. I did have a thought that it might be Liam there, and it was enough to have me rushing to the door. Only, when I opened it, someone unexpected was standing on the other side.

"Rita?" I said, confused.

She gave a wry smile. "You could at least pretend to be glad to see me, you know? Now I feel bad for com-ing all the way here."

"No!" I said immediately, fluttering my hands in the air between us. "I'm sorry about that; I just wasn't expecting..."

She rolled her eyes at me. "Let me guess. You thought it would be your boyfriend, come here to pull you out of your boredom."
