ALESSANDRA
I could feel my heart breaking into a million pieces as his words rang in my ears. "I, Alpha Damien, reject you, Alessandra Dior, as my mate. You are weak and disgraceful."
The tears spilled down my cheeks as I battled to keep myself intact. I had realized that Damien was cold and savage, however I never anticipated that he would be so awful.
I turned and ran. I ran as quick and to the extent that my wolf legs could convey me. I didn't have any fucking idea where I was going, I simply had to move away from that place, from the embarrassment and heartbreak.
As I went through the forest, the trees obscured into a green streak, and the hints of the timberland turned into a far off murmur. My brain was a whirlpool of feelings, and I battled to get a handle on what had simply occurred.
In the end, my feet gave out, and I fell to the floor, my breath coming in pants. I had no clue about how far I had ran, but i realized i couldn't go on any longer.
I shut my eyes, prepared to surrender to the darkness that took steps to swallow me.
"Hello, are you okay?" a voice called out.
I attempted to open my eyes, yet my body felt too weighty to even think about moving. The last thing I remembered before blacking out was a large strong man hovering above me.
When I woke up, I looked around my surroundings and found out that I'm in a hospital. My head pulsated, and my body throbbed as I attempted to sit up but the pain that ran through my body was enough to make me give up.
"Relax," the man said. "You blacked out in our forest, and we carried you here to ensure you're OK."
I squinted, attempting to zero in on the person who was addressing me. He had black hair and stormy blue eyes.
"Where...where am I?" I croaked, my throat dry and scratchy.
"You're in the pack medical clinic," he answered.
"I'm the beta of this pack. My name is Caleb. Do you remember your name and how you ended up here?"
I hesitated but he was looking at me with so much kindness that I knew I had to open up.
"My name is Alessandra Luna," I started, my voice a shudder. "I...I was rejected by my mate, and I ran until I was unable to run any longer. I don't actually have any idea how I got into your pack. I'm sorry for trespassing."
Caleb's demeanor softened,
"I'm sorry about that Alessandra. Nobody has the right to go through that sort of agony. You're safe here."
I bit my lips holding my tears.
"Much thanks to you," I murmured, my voice breaking with feeling. "I don't have any idea what I would have done If you hadn't brought me here. Maybe gotten eaten."
Caleb grinned.
"I want to believe that you don't care about me asking, however do you have a pack to get back to? Or then again any family or companions who may be stressed over you?"
I stopped, feeling an ache of misery at the possibility of my old pack.
"No, I don't have anybody to return to," I conceded, my voice scarcely over a murmur. "My family is dead, and my old pack...I don't figure they would need me back"
"Since I was basically their maid"I muttered under my breath.
"What did you say?"
"Nothing" I replied.
Please Alessandra," Caleb gently ordered, "can you tell me what happened? I want to help."
I hesitated, my mind a jumble of emotions. "I appreciate your kindness, Caleb, but it hurts too much to say right now. I need time to process it."
He nodded in understanding, but worry lingered in his eyes. "Well, take your time. But if you ever want to share it, I'm here."
As the hours passed, Caleb stood beside me, offering comfort in his calm expression. Eventually, the pain began to subside, and I had the strength to sit up.
"Are you feeling a little better?" he asked, his gaze never leaving me.
"Yeah, thank you," I muttered, avoiding eye contact.
"What pack am I?"
"Okay don't get frightened"
"Why would I?"
"You're in the Stone pack" he said and it felt like my whole head was vibrating. He just dropped a bomb on me and he was acting so chill about it.
"T...T...The Stone pack?"
"If this is the stone pack, then this is Alpha Giovanni's pack"
Caleb frowned in confusion. "Yes, Alpha Giovanni leads our group"
"Alessandra, you don't need to be afraid."
My voice trembled with fear as I thought, "Giovanni is the most ruthless alpha in history. He doesn't just teach life; he oppresses and destroys them. The rumours tell it all. Everyone fears him"
Caleb approached, his voice soft but firm. "Alessandra, I know it's hard, but you're safe here. Giovanni isn't really that bad."
"Wait..You're his beta?"
"Yeah but please calm down. I don't like Giovanni's actions, but we have our own principles in the Stone Pack."
My breath came erratically and I stared at Caleb. "Principles? Do you even understand the dangers he's capable of? You're his beta, his right hand man. You obey his every command!"
Silence hung thick in the air as the weight of my words increased. In that moment I learned the truth – Caleb was Giovanni's beta. The realization hit me like a physical blow, and my anger turned to strange silence.
"Can't you tell, Caleb?" I finally whispered, my voice shaped by emotion. "You're Giovanni's beta. You follow his instructions. How can I trust you to protect me when your loyalty is with him?"
Caleb's face softened, and spoke seriously, "I know it's hard, Alessandra. But you'll be fine".
"What the fuck is going on here" A voice barked, his voice echoing through the room.
