It's the 5th century AD. The Western Roman Empire has almost collapsed. From his remains, warlords and petty kings fight for dominance over his crumbling territories. In Britain, the Germanic migration has just begun. Anglo-Saxon warlords fight against the divided British leaders on the Isles. When hope is almost over for the British, a figure emerges to lead them. Can this King 'Arthur' and his companions unite the British and repel the Germanic Invasion? Or will they succumb to internal conflicts and divisions? Hi guys, this is my take on a more historical and 'realistic' approach to 5th-century Britain in the Nasuverse. I am going to use other pieces of media to complement the Word-Building. The main one will be "The Warlord Chronicles" trilogy by Bernard Cornwell. Also, I don't own the Fate series or The Warlord Chronicles. They belong to their respective creators, Kinoko Nasu and Bernard Cornwell. Also, the original artist for the cover that I'm using is here: https://danbooru.donmai.us/posts?tags=jason_kim&z=1
AN: Hi guys. This fanfic is centered around the Nasuverse of the Fate series, specifically during the Era of King Arthur.
But you may ask me: "What's the difference between this fic and the bazillion others centered in this period?" The answer to this question is the introduction of another piece of media to help with worldbuilding and keep me pumped up to continue writing. The piece of média in question is the "Warlord Chronicles" trilogy by Bernard Cornwell.
For you guys who don't know this trilogy, I'm gonna simply say that it is one of the best and one of my favorite pieces of entertainment centered around King Arthur. The series brings the Legend of King Arthur in a more historical tone with a well-constructed and realistic universe.
For the people who know Cornwell's works, I believe you guys can have a notion of what I am trying to accomplish here. (OBS: If you never read any of Cornwell's books, consider reading; he is, in my opinion, the best author of historical romance books today).
Already establishing that this is a FATE x Warlord Chronicles crossover, what to expect of this fanfic? Without trying to spoil, what I'm gonna be trying to do here is a Fantasy versus Realism thing. Some characters are gonna be closer to their mythical counterparts, while others are gonna be "more realistic"; I'm planning on having those two types of characters collide in conflict sometimes.
Finalizing this author's note, what to expect of King Arthur/Artoria in this fic? I'm gonna be honest, the plan is to merge Artoria's character with bits and pieces of Cornwell Arthur. The effect of this mashup will result in a different type of Saber than the one we have in canon, but some core aspects of what makes Artoria the OG saberface that we like will remain.
Also, when the moment of servants and grail wars come and whatnot, I'm going to glaze this Artoria and the Knights of The Round Table harder than Gege glazes Sukuna. So expect a great amount of "to OP please nerf" 5-star servants.

Winter. 460 A.D.
Caer Cadarn. Dummonia.
King's private office.
Third Person P.O.V.
Our story begins in a closed room made of polished stone where the torches lit in the walls are the only illumination present to see what is occurring in the room. In this place, we can see a man sitting at a desk made of polished wood. Even at a distance, this man possesses an overbearing presence. Our visage of him, at first glance, is the perfect image of a monarch.
Draped in heavy furs perfectly fit for winter, the man possesses short golden blonde hair with few white strands and a matching medium-sized beard. His face is sharp and devoid of wrinkles. Apart from the few strands of white hair, the only other characteristic that showcases his age is a tired pair of emerald green eyes.
This tired middle-aged man is none other than King Uther Pendragon, the current king of Dumnonia and High King of Brittania and, quite possibly, one of the only things protecting the British lands from the scourge of the Saxons. But what could have made such a prestigious and strong monarch this tired? A terrible defeat against his enemies? A revolt against his rule? A plague ravaging his lands? The answer is no to all the questions above. The problem reflected in Uther's eyes, that occurs with every king, is the birth of an heir.
Despite being in his late forties, Uther has only one legitimate daughter, Morgan. Throughout her childhood, Uther saw his daughter excel in nearly all subjects taught. On a special note is her prodigious talent in magecraft.
The king always lets a disdainful snort when hearing the complaints of the peasant masses about evil witches and sorcerers, especially the followers of Christ. The Christians whine and complain about everything supernatural except their god. For Uther, a magus is no different than a trained warrior. A spear in the heart or a sword in the neck will kill them like every other human. If they can kill as efficiently as any other spearman, then they can be used to fight the Saxons.
Back at the topic of Morgan, Uther can see that his young daughter has far more aptitude to rule than most petty kings will ever have. However, despite her potential, she will never ascend to the throne. Because as soon as she assumes power, nearly every noble and chief will rise against her. She may come victorious in such a conflict, but the damage inflicted on the kingdom will be catastrophic. Such a state of affairs is the perfect scenario for the neighboring kingdoms to attack, destroying everything that Uther and his forefathers have built.
It almost pains Uther to forfeit Morgan's place as heir, but he has already gone too far to see his ambitions and dreams of a united Brittania under his rule. However, he only hopes Morgan can flourish in her future marriage with King Lot of Lothian.
With Morgan out of the picture, Uther's only hope for an heir is his future unborn son, who should be born today. Despite having certainty that the childbirth will be successful, he still worries.
Uther's contemplations are interrupted by a strong gust of wind in the supposedly closed room.
For a brief moment, the entire room darkens due to the winds blowing the fire out of the torches.
The darkness didn't last long, with the torches suddenly coming alive.
If a common man were in the room, he would immediately blame the evil spirits for such a surreal phenomenon. However, Uther is not an ordinary man. And he knows exactly who caused this, judging by his irritated face.
"I see that even on such an important day for the kingdom, you didn't lose your sense of theatrics, Merlin." The king spoke, his voice filled with bitterness as he addressed the new figure in the room, emphasizing the last name with bile in his throat.
The man Uther refers to, Merlin, suddenly appears in this closed room.
Merlin is a tall man with white hair and amethyst eyes. His face is perfectly symmetrical, and he wears an exotic white cloak adorned with countless flowers. He also carries a wooden staff that is the same size as himself. Merlin always wears an easy smile on his lips.
Merlin's appearance is otherworldly. His beauty is such that he enchants men and women. But it's not just his beauty that draws attention. The sparkle in his eyes differs from the other humans.
Uther has lost count of the countless times Merlin had his appearance mistaken for a fairy due to his supernatural appearance.
Merlin leans against a wall. "Isn't life a great theater, my King?" he asks innocently. "What are our lives if not pieces written by destiny?" he continues mockingly.
Uther grimaces at Merlin's irritating voice.
Merlin serves as the court wizard and a private advisor to Uther. However, Uther harbors animosity towards Merlin not only because of his playful and mocking attitude that often conflicts with his serious personality but also due to the wizard's origins.
Merlin is not human.
The details surrounding Merlin's birth are unclear. However, Uther knows the wizard was born to a princess in Western Britain a few years after the Roman Empire left the island. What most people don't know is that the princess was forced to take part in a magical ritual and was subsequently raped and impregnated by an Incubus. Merlin was born into this unholy union, but unfortunately, the princess did not survive.
For Uther, it is idiotic to compare Merlin with a human. The Mage of Flowers is an entity entirely beyond understanding that, to Uther, is more like the dreadful fairies than humans.
Uther only tolerates Merlin due to his prodigious magical talent, particularly his clairvoyant vision and gifts for prophetic dreams.
It is on Merlin's prophecies that Uther is staking the future of his legacy.
"Fate may be inevitable, but that doesn't stop me from using it for the good of Britannia," Uther speaks with a tone of finality as he looks at the wizard.
Merlin smiles when he hears Uther say these words, as if remembering a joke and starts to move towards the table where Uther is.
"Don't forget all the great men who clung to the idea of destiny and ended up losing everything," the wizard says seriously to Uther, but that expression fades into a teasing smile. "After all, what better example for this than that of Great King Uther, considered the second coming of Ambrosius Aurelianus and the hope of the British, hm? This charismatic figure has faded and has given way to a paranoid, self-centered man who alienated all the other British kingdoms with his obsession with destiny and prophecies!" Merlin ends with his arms open as an actor awaiting applause in front of King Uther.
The room falls silent until Uther stands up, throws the table aside, and advances furiously towards Merlin.
"Don't try to paint my path as a damn Greek tragedy, you soulless incubus!" Uther screams and grabs the wizard by the throat. "The mistakes I made in my youth are inconsequential for today!" Uther lets go of Merlin and looks to the side with hesitation and embarrassment.
The King of Dumnonia seems to forget Merlin, who seems amused at the situation, and begins to walk in circles in the room and mutters conspiratorially.
"My union with Igraine was just an excuse used by those damned cowards to oppose me. Tewdric of Gwent has always been an uncertain fool, but Gorfyddyd of Powys is the most rat-like vermin in Britain," he says the last name with disgust but then lets out a derogatory laugh. "After all, what can you expect from someone descended from Vortigern the fool."
The story of how Uther lost favor with the other kings of Britain is due to his relationship with Igraine, his current wife, who is giving birth; and is known to everyone in Britain.
As a young man, and on his journey through Britain to gain support from the other kings to fight the Saxons, Uther and his entourage found themselves at the court of the kingdom of Powys. There, he came across Igraine of Gwynedd, who, at the time, was the bride of the King of Powys, Gorfyddyd.
Igraine was the most beautiful woman in Britain at that time, and Uther was attracted to her immediately but managed to reign in his lust. However, a prophecy that Merlin would reveal that night in Powys would make Uther act on impulse.
Uther still remembers the prophecy word for word.
"From the womb of Igraine will come the rightful ruler of these islands and the red dragon. Her offspring will become one of the most famous monarchs of Britannia in the past, present, and future. Caratacus, Boudica, Ambrosius Aurelianus, Coel Hen, and Vortigern will all be figures from the past in the presence of the destined King."
Upon hearing this prophecy, Uther decided to kidnap Igraine. His pride would not allow for the possibility that Gorfyddyd's cursed bloodline would be Britannia's salvation.
The abduction ruined Uther's reputation, causing him to lose the trust of other leaders in the Isles.
His hope of expelling the Saxons from Britain was no longer a possibility. The only thing he hopes is that his future heir can accomplish this.
Merlin P.O.V
Humans are such fascinating creatures. They are so paradoxical and difficult to understand in comparison to other animals.
Every single common animal that crawls on Earth is all bland.
What is the fun of watching a bunch of animals that know nothing other than breathe, eat, and die?
But humans… Oh, how they are marvelous!
Every single human lives their short life differently. It's so entertaining to see how every one of them attempts to give a special meaning to exist.
No wonder they became the dominant species in this mud ball called Earth.
They shape the physical and metaphysical world around them without even realizing it!
Even the very Gods of centuries past would not exist without humans.
Seeing those aspects of humanity, no wonder I came to 'love' then.
Being born a half incubus, I cannot feel the world like others. I cannot 'love,' I cannot 'hate', I cannot be 'happy.' The only way I can feel those 'emotions' is through others. My only solution for this is the humans.
Uther likes to compare me to those fairies. Being compared to those boring things is an insult!
I attempted to 'play' with the fairies before. But they are so tiresome and disappointing! Fairies are like fakers trying to replicate what they cannot be. Seeing their emotions is like eating bland food.
Huff~
Uther is lucky to be such an entertaining person. Few can claim to have my fantastical self as an advisor for such a long time.
The best humans to observe are the ones in a position of power, be they kings, priests, or merchants. Sometimes, an outlier appears among the common masses, but they are rare and hard to find!
Uther is, by far, the most entertaining human I have ever watched in my decades of life. He is such a puzzle of a character. An arrogant, self-centered, warmonger, and paranoid person that can't see any other worldview other than his own. Many might think that years of rule took a toll on him, but this can't be farther from the truth.
He had always been like that. I have known him for decades, and those aspects of him were always there. If there is one thing that I discovered, after decades of watching humans, is that only in moments of struggle their true selves are revealed.
Free will might be one of the biggest lies spoken by Christians. How can one be free if he is predisposed to follow a specific path since birth? Even the gods were chained to fate differently. But this doesn't make me lose interest in them. Although they are fated to follow specific paths, they do many fascinating things despite such adversities.
Uther might say that everything he does is for the good of Britain, but I know that is a lie. Igraine, for example, would fall into his clutches one way or another. My prophecy simply gave him the motivation. Without that, his lust or envy would be the contributing factor.
And speaking of my prophecy, Uther was so enclosed in his little mind that he could no see the double-edged sword that a prophecy can be. The Igraine of the prophecy could be any Igraine. And the red dragon… *sigh*
Only after Morgan's birth, Uther could see how tricky prophecies can be. His 'perfect heir' was born a girl… Oh, how mad he was! Only after nearly a decade did he attempt to make the 'perfect heir' again.
The baby born today will not only be Uther's son.
On his orders, I made a ritual on Igraine's womb. The 'red dragon,' according to Uther, must be a real dragon in human form.
I must admit that it was fascinating attempting to create a dragon-human hybrid. The only way possible is to bathe one in the essence of a dragon. But what if the one bathed is a child in the womb? The idea of creating and seeing a Celtic Siegfried is hilarious.
Will he be more human or dragon?
If everything goes as planned, Igraine will birth the 'red dragon' of Britain today. I'm partially curious to see how Albion's essence, the dragon I choose for such an experiment, will change the child since Igraine will probably die after giving birth.
On another note, how will Morgan react to the loss of her mother? Will she blame her sibling? Or Uther? Maybe me? She is another fascinating little thing to watch. Her feelings are so unique for a young child. It's a shame that Uther plans to marry and send her to the cold north. I might keep a look at her with my clairvoyance. She might even do something interesting!
Mmm… Is the birth already over? Let me see…
…
Oh? Looks like the birth is over…
And Igraine is dead. Also… Oh…
Uther is not going to like this.
"Congratulations, my King. The birth is over. You are now the father of a beautiful baby girl who is a dragon in human form. Igraine is dead, but the plan with Albion's essence worked." I reveal the news to him, observing his reactions, and he doesn't disappoint.
Uther, previously brooding, widened his eyes upon hearing my words. He gives me a deep and hopeful look, almost begging for my words to be a lie. But they are not.
I give him a helpful hum. "If you are so worried about a male heir you could just choose Vortigern as a successor."
Vortigern is Uther's younger brother. And they are not on good terms.
In my opinion, and despite his namesake, Vortigern was and will always be more suited to be King than Uther. They are complete opposites. Uther is Arrogant, and Vortigern is Humble. Uther is brash, and Vortigern is calm. It's those qualities that made Uther hate him, which is predictable.
Hmm, it's a long time since I saw Vortigern… And despite those positive qualities that Vortigern possesses, he has a fatal flaw. He is always so fearful of failure. It doesn't make him a coward, but it does feel like he is carrying the world on his shoulders.
And despite having Uther's hate, Vortigern doesn't reciprocate. I would dare say he loves Uther more than anything. It's almost like a brother using his older sibling to shield him from nightmares.
It's a scene worth of a tragedy, this relationship between brothers.
Upon receiving my suggestion, Uther adopts a blank face. "Not Voltigern…" he responds breathlessly.
I tilt my head in confusion. "I see that you still haven't gone past your hatred for Vortigern," I speak to him and then adopt a thinking pose. "You could make Prince Gereint heir. He is young, fourteen in think. Marrying Morgan to him would ensure the continuation of your blood on the throne."
Prince Gereint is the strongest subject of Dumnonia. He can field two thousand spears, most blooded since Gereint's territories border the Saxons. Also, he is a distant cousin to Uther, making him a good option for an heir.
Uther's eyes gain a resolute expression, "No. Not Vortigern, not Gereint. The heir of Dumnonia is the 'red dragon,' be they woman or not." Uther makes his final decision. "But the fact that she is a girl is a problem. I have at least a decade of life left in my lungs, so I will attempt to make a transition for Arthur as easy as possible."
"Arthur?" I ask in a confused tone regarding the name of the girl.
Uther laughs and coughs a little. "She' will be anything a say she is. If I say she has a cock then that's the truth!" He then starts walking toward the door but stops halfway. "I will not be able to watch the child grow, so I'm putting one of my most trusted men to raise her... Hmm, Ector did have a son a few years ago. So it will be a good beginning for the future King. I also expect you to be present in educating 'her.' You might be a wretched creature, but your knowledge is second to none." he speaks with finality.
It's odd… Why is Uther not despairing over his 'perfect heir' not being a man? Why did he dismiss such detail? Why…
Oh, now I can see.
Hahahahaha.
He just no longer cares. Having your expectations broken in such a way can break any man. And for Uther, who placed nearly a decade of hope into this plan…
Before opening the door and leaving, he spares me a last glance. "Why don't you make a prophecy now, hm? Take a look into Arthur's future and enjoy yourself." He speaks those words in a self-mock manner before leaving me alone.
"What a sad ending for Uther Pendragon," I speak in a disappointing voice.
"But will you disappoint me, 'Arthur'?" I ask as I peer into the dreams, seeing little Arthur's future.
Third Person P.O.V.
"Are you sure you want this life, 'brother'?
"It's my duty, K*y"
…
"Behold! The man who pulled the sword from the stone! The son of Uther! The Red Dragon of Britain!"
"Arthur! Arthur! Arthur"
"Arthur! Arthur! Arthur"
"Arthur! Arthur! Arthur"
…
"Why do you vouch for him?
"That men defeated three armed soldiers without armor and weapons. He is a warrior with few equals. Let's give him equals and let him join our 'brotherhood."
"I'm convinced. What's his name?"
"He goes by the name L*n**L**."
…
"He was the one raised by *wain?"
"Yes. A fearsome warrior. He almost managed to kill Gereint despite being exhausted."
"And Gereint stills vouch for him?"
"He says 'most warriors don't choose a side in war."
"I'm willing to trust him in this decision then. Also, which nickname D*g***t gave him?"
"Cadarn."
…
"He is probably the most knowledgeable person on the subject of war in Western Europe."
"It doesn't surprise me. Africa, Hispania, Italy, Gaul. He saw more war than most of us ever will."
"Let's hope Sir Sag***o* can see fewer conflicts in Britain."
…
"A woman!?"
"Yes. It was a surprise for me as well. She came with her brother."
"Amazing. Equaling with Sir L*n**L**, even for me, is not an easy feat. What is her name?"
"B*li*."
…
"I must say that his prowess with the harp is even better than his shooting skills."
"Yes. He is also a good man. It's a shame that P****e*es dislikes him so much."
"Don't worry. I hope he and *ri*t*in will see each other as friends someday."
…
"De***l says that he hits like an ogre. I think I agree with that statement."
"Hahahaha. If the one nicknamed 'Cadarn' says that someone is strong then that must be true."
"Yes. Ga***n is strong."
…
"Are the sons of Old King Pell*n*** all exceptionals?"
"It looks like…"
…
"Hahahahaha" Merlin's laugh resonates in the room. "I can hardly wait for your adventures and struggles with your 'knights,' Arthur!"

Meh~
Can you guys guess who are each knight of the Round Table at the end of the chapter?
Just a tip, I already mentioned the protagonist in this chapter.
AN: At the end of each chapter I'm gonna try to put an appendix containing extra info and some of my thoughts. Such as characters, locations, and maybe some of the other books that I'm gonna research for the story. For example, in the Grail Saga arc that I have planned, some books involving this tale will be mentioned in the author's notes, or some modern books from my period learning Medieval History at Uni, only if I manage to comb my files, okay?
I'm going to be also crossposting this on QQ.

432 AD: Ambrosius Aurelianus's death and the start of the Germanic settlements in Britain.
450 AD: Vortigern death and fragmentation of Britain.
460 AD: Birth of Arthur.

Map of Western Europe at the start of the fanfic.
Appendix:
Uther Pendragon: Legendary British King and, according to legends, father of King Arthur. He is the King of Dumnonia and High King of Brittania. Uther's character is based on Cornwell's Uther. He is an arrogant and powerful man who has spent his whole life battling. He is old, tired, and betting all his eggs on his future heir.
Morgan: The elder daughter of Uther and future wife of Uther. Her character is going to be such a pain to write. Morgan is her Fate counterpart for obvious reasons, but I'm bringing a few additions to her in this story. First, she is Uther biological daughter instead of adopted. I dislike that whole plot with Duke Gorlois of Cornwall that, in some tales, becomes one of the most useless NTR plots ever(I'm not going to steal Lancelot and what defines him as a character LOL).
There is also the whole multiple personalities shenanigans with Morgan. She is Morgan, sister of Arthur and wife of Lot; Morgan Le Fay, evil witch and main villain in the legends of King Arthur; and Vivian, the Lady of The Lake and one of Arthur's most important allies. Morgan is a schizo.
I'm thinking of separating Vivian's character from Morgan's and saying they are opposing forces. In some sources, they are technically sisters. With this option, Morgan is going to have a human side and a fairy side, Le Fay ( Thinking about this is giving me some PTSD flashbacks from trashy Naruto fics involving Yin and Yang Naruto).
Lot of Lothian: The future husband of Morgan and king of Lothian.
This guy is one of the most pitiful characters in the legend of Arthur. He is married to a crazy bitch that, in some versions, kills him; has all his children eclipse him; and sometimes is the mook Boss Fight for Arthur at the beginning of his journey. He is, potentially, a Xianxia protagonist and the perfect guy for a face-slap and speshul kingdom-building fanfic (If I'm not mistaken, there is an mtl fanfic with this exact premise).
Merlin: Mage and the future mentor of Arthur. Fate Merlin, simple as that…
Anyway, the Merlin that we see in Fate is the Merlin that has gone through his character development already. This one is the inhuman Merlin who sees everything as entertainment.
In some late versions of the legend, Merlin is, quite literally, the figure of the Antichrist who was the cause of the doom of Camelot.
This version is going to be, basically, a passive observer who gives his opinion sometimes, which is pretty much in line with the Fate version.
I'm really sad that the Merlin in this story is not going to be Cornwell's Merlin, who is my favorite. But, maybe in the future, I will add a character representing him… Probably.
Britain: The island of Great Britain, with the modern-day countries of England, Wales, and Scotland.
Britannia: The High Kingdom of the British Celts, a position only held by the most powerful King, similar to a confederation of tribes
Igraine: Mother of Morgan and Arthur. In most stories, her position is just that of a broodmare. The only detail I added is that she is a princess of the Kingdom of Gwynedd. In the future, Igraine is going to be related to a very important character in the Arthurian cycle.
Tewdric of Gwent: The king of Gwent and future saint. His character is the one from Cornwell's books. In real life, this guy's grandson was probably the real King Arthur… but without the legends and all that jazz.
In the Warlord Chronicles, this guy is a real Gigachad. He abdicates the throne and becomes a hermit saint, but when conflict comes, he takes the throne back, and after all is over he becomes a hermit again ( If I'm not mistaken, Murad II of the Ottoman Empire did the same thing).
Gorfyddyd of Powys: The King of Powys and a descendant of High King Voltigern. He is one of the most powerful British kings. I took his character from Cornwell's books.
Vortigern the Fool: He is a real-life British king who managed to unite most of Britain after the Romans left the island. He is also responsible for inviting the first wave of Germanic settlers to Britain as foederati. In some sources, he is betrayed and killed by the very own Saxons that he invited. He becomes a villain in the later Legend of Arthur.
In this story, he was contemporary to King Cole and Ambrosius Aurelianus, the first dying way earlier than the other two. Ambrosius was the opponent to Voltigern supremacy in Britain, having stood in opposition against inviting Germanic settlers to Britain. Voltigern conspired and killed Ambrosius, finally obtaining hegemony in Britain.
The Saxons betrayed and killed Voltigern, ending the notion of a united Britain.
This guy was a Griffith expy who lost everything at the end. And despite holding direct control over all of Britain, his memory is that of a failure. He is hated due to inviting the great enemy to their shores.
Also, I decided to separate Voltigern into two characters. The first is explained above, and the second is Arthur's uncle. You guys will see the Second Voltigern character in the next chapters.
Caratacus: The king of the Catuvelani tribe who led a ten-year-long resistance campaign against Roman occupation during Emperor Claudius's invasion of Britain. He is Arthur's distant ancestor.
This guy is one of the most impressive cases of resistance against Rome. Despite losing and being captured, they spared him, and he was allowed to live the rest of his life as a guest in Rome.
Caratacus was similar to the case of Viriathus, but not Gigachad like him.
Boudica: The Queen of the Iceni who led a revolt against Rome due to her daughter's rape and death by Roman soldiers. She led an unsuccessful two-year-long revolt against Emperor Nero. Her revolt was brutal despite being so short.
Momma Boudica…
Ambrosius Aurelianus: An important Romano-British Warlord who, historically, won battles against the Saxons.
This guy is one of the real-life figures that inspired the figure of Arthur to be born. In most legends, he is Arthur's uncle and brother of Uther.
In this story, he is the Romano-British leader who took control of South Britain after the Romans left the Island. It's going to be after his reign and death that the situation for the Celts Will start to deteriorate. He is contemporary to both Vortigern the Fool and Coel Hen.
Coel Hen: Was a legendary British King in the 3rd or 4th century AD who had control of much of the Northern parts of today England and the South of Scotland.
Coel Hen means 'Old Cole' and, If I'm not mistaken, is still a popular folklore figure in Northern England.
In this story, King Cole was a High King of "The Old North" of Britain, located on the North of the Isles. He is contemporary to both Vortigern the Fool and Ambrosius Aurelianus and took power after the Romans left the Island. He died of old age a decade after taking power.
AN: Also, English is not my primary language. Half of my time producing this chapter was on proofreading, so just one chapter per week… for now.
