CHAPTER 4 : White's crush

On Saturday, before going to the cafe, Ajin dropped by white's part-time job, which she had been doing to pay her college fees as her parents could not afford it.

"Hey," he said to her after she finished serving a customer.

'hi, what's up? Why are you here so early? It's like 6 in the morning in your world," she said sarcastically.

Ajin rolled his eyes. He won't deny he's not a morning person, but it's 10 a.m. now, and his nerves were not letting him sleep.

"Oh, I don't sleep that much,' Ajin said offhandedly.

White just gave him an unimpressed look while making a coffee.

"Alright, so, I got this job offer and the person already knew my name and told me 'I was the perfect person they were looking for'.

Worry covered up white's face. "Don't go," she said with despair.

"They are not gonna eat me, white," said Ajin, giving her surety, though he wasn't sure what was waiting for him.

White still looked unconvinced and said, "Give me your location? When are you going? When will you be back? I'm calling the police if it takes you more than 2 hours," she said in one breath.

"whoa, calm down, breathe, jeez you make me feel so loved," he said jokingly.

"it's not time for jokes, Ajin, I'm serious"

"And, I'm Ajin," white glared at him.

He approached her and embraced her. "I will be fine," he assured her, while she squeezed him tightly in her arms.

The door of the cafe opened with the sound of the bell. And white threw Ajin back with such strength he didn't know she had.

"Nai!" said white nervously. "W-why are you here? " She asked stupidly.

And Yes. That was a stupid question.

" A drink....coffee?" said Nai uncertainly.

"Of course" bursted white "Okay, And I'll prepare it for you, would you like something else too? The menu is over there. " she pointed towards the nearest table.

Ajin's eyes gave her a suspicious look When Nai turned to take the menu. She turned towards him furiously and her eyes told him to sit at the corner table of the cafe.

Ajin sat there, uninterested, with his arms crossed and eyes fixed on Nai while she gave orders and made small talk. White, on the other hand, looked like she was about to faint. Nai just looked at her with....adoration. Ajin didn't know, but white was not the one who got nervous easily. She is confident and rebellious. badass. Opposite of what Nai was making of her now.

After some moments, Nai took his coffee and proceeded towards the door. He gave Ajin a very uncertain look which said 'what-did-white-see-in-this-loser'. Ajin didn't fail to return this look.

Ajin came to white and said sarcastically, "You got a new best friend I guess"

White explained to Ajin everything that how they met and how Nai became a crush of white.

She said, "10 days ago he first entered my cafe and ordered a cup of hot chocolate. He sat at the cornermost table, minding his own business reading "Atomic Habits''. The way he spoke to me while placing the order was so elegant. That charming and calm personality of his... Oh my god, that stole my heart.

Ajin smiled at her and said, "Well, that's great. I am happy for you."

"Sorry na kha," she said while hitting him playfully.

Ajin left the cafe and shared his live location with white. He drove to the cafe which was assigned by the old man 'the Gorya's Cafe'.

As he entered the cafe, a girl, who looked like she worked there, came up to him and whispered, "Are you here for the job interview?"

Ajin nodded a yes.
