There’s nothing more heart -wrenching than seeing the one you love, betray and forsake you. Zina sacrificed everything she had, including devoting two years of her life to a man who eventually betrayed her. Despite being pregnant with his child, she chose to kick him completely from her life. Few years later, she soared to success as a medical doctor. Alongside her professional recognition, she stumbles upon her hidden identity and a formidable power within herself. Suddenly, Xaden crawls back to her, seeking a place in her life again. And not only that, she finds herself fated to two mates, plunging her into a web of love, deception, and the struggle for forgiveness.
Zina:
"Congratulations, Luna! You're two weeks pregnant!" The pack doctor who sat across me practically squealed with excitement, and all I could do was blink in disbelief. It felt like she was playing a prank on me. Or was she not?
"Uhh?" I widened my eyes in shock, but she pulled out the pregnancy test and handed it to me. Scanning through it, I gasped- I was pregnant. I was truly pregnant! After two seemingly endless years of hoping, it felt like the moon goddess had finally smiled upon me, proving all my doubts of her despising me, wrong.
"Thank you so so much," I exclaimed with excitement, slipping the report into my bag as I hastily left her office. I was determined to prove Xaden wrong about my supposed barrenness, so I rushed to my car and headed straight to his office.
It was funny that today marked our two-year anniversary, and what better way to celebrate by sharing the news of my pregnancy results with him. Over the past two years, I endured relentless bullying, particularly from his sister and mother, all because I couldn't bear him as a child. Now, armed with this life-changing news, I hoped they'd finally give me the respect I deserved as a Luna.
Speaking of the devil, I collided with Xaden's mother as she exited his building, causing my bag to tumble to the ground. For reasons unknown to me, that woman harbored a deep disdain for my very existence.
"You're so blind and dumb to realize you shouldn't be walking that hastily?I can't fathom what's putting that much joy on your face" She sneered at me when she noticed how bright and happy my face was, but as those words left her mouth, my expression shifted
momentarily to a saddened one. Just for that brief moment, though.
I was determined not to let her mar my happiness.
"I'm sorry, Mo...ther," I apologized, bowing, but all I received was a loud hiss. Her glare pierced through me, as though I had uttered some unspeakable curse.
"I'm not and will never be your mother! For two years, you haven't given me a grandchild. Do you realize how heart-wrenching that is?"
"I..." A part of me longed to reveal that I was carrying her son's child, the grandchild she had always desired and berated me for not providing. But no, I held back. She would hear the good news from Xaden himself.
She nodded in disappointment, and as she walked away, her next words struck me like a bolt and made me numb for a few minutes. "If you value your well-being, I'd suggest you turn back and steer clear of Xaden's office. You might endure a heartbreak if you do."
What in the goddess' name did she mean by that? It was just a joke, right? Right. I decided to brush off her words and dispel the fear she had planted within me during those brief minutes. Bending down, I picked my bag off the ground, straightened out my disheveled clothes, and confidently walked towards the floor where his office was located.
Xaden was the Alpha of the Waterfall pack, and as such, juggled pack duties with the numerous companies he had. I was so in love with him that I got married to him two years ago, despite my parents' objections. It was sad that I went against their wishes to marry him.
Fueled by deep love, I turned a deaf ear to their warnings and ran far away from my pack and honestly , our life together was warm and comforting until a few months ago when he started growing distant, avoiding conversations and the mutual love we once shared.
A part of me speculated that the pack's rumors about me being an incapable and barren Luna had finally taken a toll on him, explaining his changed behavior. But now, with the
exciting news of my pregnancy, I couldn't wait to share it with him, hoping to reclaim the love, warmth and closeness we once had.
Breathing heavily after climbing numerous staircases, I finally reached his office. I spotted his receptionist and chose to ignore her, knowing she didn't like me, either.
"Alpha isn't around, ma'am," she jerked up when she saw me,stating with an edgy tone, and I sensed something was amiss. I had seen his car outside, so why was she lying?
"I saw his mom a few minutes ago, and she told me he's in. Why play tricks on me?" Anger etched on my face, and I noticed sweat forming on her forehead.
"It's... just... that... he's..." Her words came out in ragged breaths, but I couldn't endure it so I ignored her and walked directly to his office, my heels clicking on the marble tiles.
Reaching for the doorknob, I attempted to open it, only for what I heard next to send my heart racing twice its normal rate.
"I never knew you'd taste so fucking good, Xaden." The unmistakable female voice resonated from Xaden's room. For a moment, it felt like I was in a trance. My Xaden? The voice sounded painfully familiar, and an impending sense of dread gripped me.
"Oh, fuck! Have I told you how sweeter you are than Zina?" Xaden's voice reached my ears, and I found myself frozen in place. Bile rose up my throat, and soon, the office echoed with loud moans and impassioned grunts that I couldn't escape.
My wolf asked me to turn back, in order to keep my pup growing in my womb safe, but I refused. There are risks worth taking, right? I took three deep breaths and flung the door open.
What was right before my eyes made my stomach churn. He was on his couch, thrusting into another lady so loudly and intensely, that they didn't even notice my presence, not until my bag left my grip and fell to the ground.
"Shit! What the fuck are you doing here, Zina?" Xaden furrowed his brows in anger as he pulled out, a few drops of sperm littering the floor as he zipped up. The other lady groaned in pleasure, leaving no doubt about how much she had enjoyed it.
"The question should be, what are you doing with..." I was abruptly cut off when the lady turned her face towards me. A smirk played on her lips, revealing none other than Trina, my best friend – the person I trusted with my entire life.
"Trina?!" I called out, tears welling up at the corners of my eyes. These two had been betraying me? My legs threatened to give way, but I resisted the fall. I couldn't harm my pup and no, I wouldn't let them see me as weak. Not now.
"You didn't tell me Xaden was this... ughh, sweet..." she moaned, and an intense urge to twist her head and pluck her greedy eyes out surged within me.
I turned to Xaden, desperately hoping for remorse, an apology, anything. Instead, his face twisted into something akin to disgust. I watched as his eyes glared daggers,as though I was the one caught in the act.
How the fuck could I tell him that I was pregnant? I was carrying his child, yet he was hurting me so much. I had given away two years, two damn years of my life , just to be with him, and build a future together.
I sacrificed my medical career in the pursuit of marrying Xaden. Nothing else held significance at that point except him. Despite my father being the Alpha of a prestigious pack, I turned a deaf ear to his warnings and went so far as to run away from my pack to join his, all for the man who captured my heart. And this is the repayment? Cheating on me with my best friend?
"Xaden, I..." I muttered, attempting to share the news of my pregnancy, hoping it would spark a realization that he was about to become a father. However, his next words sent a searing pain through my body.
"You're a slut, Zina. A whore!" he yelled, and I couldn't contain the freely flowing tears and loud sobs. A whore, really? Who had poisoned him with these lies?
He had the audacity to call me that when I just caught him with Trina.
"Stop the pretense,Zina! Here, Have a look." He stormed to his desk, punched something into his phone, and hurled it at me.
I clutched the phone tightly in my palm to avoid it slipping, and as I looked at its contents, my eyes widened in shock, that I gulped so loudly.
