chapter [1]

In the peaceful town of Kuoh, Gorou and Miki longed for a child to complete their family. After two unsuccessful attempts, their hopes were shattered by two painful miscarriages. Determined not to give up, they decided to try a third time. However, during the second pregnancy, a tragic event changed their lives forever: Miki suffered severe complications and ended up losing her uterus, leaving them devastated and unable to fulfill their dream of having a biological baby.

In the silence of the night, Gorou and Miki sat together in their small living room, enveloped by the darkness that echoed their sadness.

"I don't know how to deal with this, Gorou. It feels like everything has crumbled around us," Miki confessed, tears moistening her pale cheeks.

Gorou firmly held her hand, searching for words of comfort that seemed to escape his mind. "I feel lost too, Miki. We put so much love and hope into these babies, and now... it feels like our dreams have been shattered."

Miki sighed, the pain in her heart almost palpable. "I wanted so much to be a mother, Gorou. It's unfair."

Gorou lowered his eyes, fighting back tears that threatened to fall. "I know, my love. I know." He wrapped Miki in a tight hug, sharing their mutual pain as they faced the cruel reality of their fate.

KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK.

Gorou and Miki exchanged confused looks, surprised by the unexpected sound at that hour of the night. Gorou slowly stood up, with Miki gripping his hand anxiously as he headed to the door.

Gorou cautiously opened the door, finding a carefully placed basket on the ground. His heart raced when he saw the sleeping baby inside, wrapped in soft blankets. Beside the basket, there was a letter with the word "Kaito" written in delicate letters.

Miki approached in disbelief, holding the letter with trembling hands. She opened the envelope and began to read, her eyes filling with tears as the words touched her heart.

"Gorou, look!" exclaimed Miki, her voice choked with emotion. "It's a letter from the baby's parents. They can't take care of him and want us to adopt him."

Gorou was speechless, his eyes fixed on the innocent face of the baby. A ray of hope broke through the darkness of their despair, filling their hearts with a new promise of love and family.

With tears of happiness streaming down their faces, Gorou and Miki knelt beside the basket, gently stroking the baby who was now theirs. In the silent night, a new journey of love and hope began for Gorou and Miki's family, with little Kaito as their precious treasure.

16 years later

Kuoh Academy

Kaito stood before Nanami, a beautiful schoolgirl, his heart pounding as he tried to gather the courage to express his feelings.

"Nanami, there's something I need to tell you," Kaito began, feeling heat rise in his cheeks.

Nanami looked at him with curiosity, her brown eyes shining with interest. "What is it, Kaito? You seem nervous."

Kaito took a deep breath, gathering his determination. "I've liked you for a while now, Nanami. I know it might seem sudden, but I can't get you out of my head. I was wondering if you'd like to go out with me... maybe, you know, on a date?"

Nanami couldn't help but let out an adorable giggle at Kaito's confession. She placed a gentle hand on his shoulder and smiled tenderly.

"Oh, Kaito, you're so sweet," she began, her smile lighting up her face. "But you're just an ordinary boy, like all the others. Don't bother me, but with your crazy dreams, my heart already belongs to someone else."

Kaito felt a knot form in his throat as he heard Nanami's words. He wondered why she accepted the chocolates he brought if she had no interest in him.

"So... so you just like the chocolates?" he asked, struggling to maintain his composure.

Nanami shrugged nonchalantly, her playful smile never leaving her face. "Of course not, Kaito. I like sweets. And you're a good little puppy, bringing more to me. Keep it up, and maybe I'll consider teaching you some tricks."

She let out a giggle, leaving Kaito feeling more downhearted than ever. He watched as she walked away, wondering how his hopes could have been so easily shattered.

Kaito was desolate, feeling as if he had been hit by a truck. He tried to gather what little dignity he had left and murmured to himself: "Good little puppy... tricks..."

However, a familiar voice interrupted him. It was his childhood friend, Hiro, who appeared by his side with a sympathetic smile.

"Hey, man, are you okay?" asked Hiro, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder.

Kaito sighed, shaking his head. "Not really. I just got rejected, Hiro. She only sees me as a... well, a chocolate supplier, apparently."

"And who told you that?" Hiro asked, raising an eyebrow curiously.

"Uh, Nanami," Kaito replied, still feeling a bit shaken.

"You're lucky, man," Hiro responded with a smile.

"Lucky? I don't get it..." said Kaito, frowning.

"You really don't know?" Hiro asked, raising an eyebrow curiously.

"I have no idea," admitted Kaito, shaking his head perplexedly.

"Nanami, like 95% of the girls at this school, supposedly likes Yuuto. But unlike them, Nanami leads a more open life, especially with the basketball team players."

"But... but she seemed so innocent," Kaito murmured, struggling to process the information.

Hiro shrugged with a sympathetic smile. "Sometimes, people aren't what they seem, Kaito. And hey, at least now you know the truth, right? Better than feeding false hopes."

Kaito nodded, still feeling a bit dazed. He looked towards where Nanami had disappeared, wondering how he could have been so naive.

"You're right, Hiro. Thanks for telling me," he said, forcing a smile.

Hiro gave Kaito an encouraging pat on the shoulder. "No problem, man. Now, how about we go grab a drink and forget this mess?"

Kaito agreed, grateful to have a friend like Hiro by his side.
