DxD | Child of Ira

Reincarnation was a treasured dream for many people and I had been lucky enough to receive it. I was granted a wonderful family, plenty of wealth, and the blessing of magic but everything came at a cost. In this case, it was the intrinsic danger of the world where gods roamed freely and myth was merely a forgotten truth. I had been reborn in Highschool DxD. **** If you enjoy my work you can support me on patre*on.com/TrapOverlord for up to 12 chapters ahead.

Chapter 43

Blood leaked from Damian's body, instantly turning into a fine mist from the sheer heat of his body, as his fist rained down on Moris' barrier. The air exploded from the friction born from the dozens of fists moving through the air at a speed surpassing that of lightning.

The barrier shattered and repaired itself endlessly. The barrier stood strong without a single trace of damage within it. No, that wasn't exactly true. The blue as well as the gold had been replaced by two different colors.

"How are you alive?" Moris asked Damian even as his barrier was destroyed endlessly. Just as the soul of a chicken was not equal to six humans, the soul of one devil was not equal to the heart of six dragons. It was not possible.

Yet, it was abundantly clear that Damian would not last much longer. While his soul burned brightly, his body was shutting down. It was clear that his left eye as well as dozens of other organs no longer functioned. His body was being destroyed by his own power.

Unfortunately, there was no sign of his efforts being rewarded. His father's sacrifice would be invalidated by his foolishness if this were to continue. Pausing his assault for but a moment Moris' eyes widened behind his glasses.

"!!!" The Mad Scientist didn't even have a moment to speak before his barrier was shattered entirely, an explosion of flesh and blood erupting alongside the dust that covered the entirety of his laboratory.

It took only an instant for the barrier to be recreated, this time a mix of purple and green swirling within it, however, that instant was more than enough. Gasping heavily Moris fought against the unbreakable grip around his neck.

Damian stood outside the barrier however his left arm remained pierced through it even as it's growth cut slowly off his arm. Despite his battered and bruised body, his completely missing right arm, and his own body failing him Damian's grip did not falter.

"Y-You monster." Moris choked out with a grin filled with madness, his figure vanishing as a rock fell to the ground. The hexagonal barrier shattered instantly as a completely new one was formed in another location.

A large claw appeared out of thin air, containing infinite power, before falling to the ground above Damian. Raising his hand the clawed hand was stopped in place before being dyed a striking pink.

It took less than an instant for the claw to be dyed pink, its former colors erased yet its power remained unchanged. No, it had increased dramatically. The claw quickly shrunk to the size of a normal limb before attaching itself to Damian's stump of a left arm.

Looking on in a mixture of wonder and interest Moris reacted belatedly to the explosion that suddenly appeared in front of him, the barrier he prided himself in shattering as though it never existed.

All around him, the barrier shattered, a pink flash passing his view occasionally being the only indication of his opponent's existence. Before he could clearly track his opponent's movements but now…

"Is he reaching their level?" Moris asked himself in awe even as the purple of his barrier vanished. In his mind, he was reminded of the figure he had only seen once in his life, the being who had spurred his creativity.

The last spawn of Thaumiel reminded him of the Dragon God Ophis.

Moris watched on in awe and horror as Damian's power skyrocketed to a level he could never reach himself. Due to the nature of his power, it was faulty and could hardly be considered complete however he was close. He was close to accomplishing his dream.

As the green within the barrier slowly vanished it was replaced with the same pink as the clawed arm attached to Damian's wriggling stump. Five of the six dragons had passed away, only one remained and now that energy was being tamed.

The barrier that Moris had dedicated his life to was being taken from his very grasp yet the Mad Scientist did not mind in the slightest. His lifelong goal was coming to fruition right before his eyes, there was no room for anything but pure joy in his mind.

Extending his arms out as if welcoming his demise Moris watched on in delight as his barrier opened for him without any command from him. Even as his chest exploded and his head flew threw the air the only thing running through Moris' mind was unadulterated happiness.

"My God!" Moris declared his last words proudly, his tone filled with the reverence of the angels and the absurdity of the devils. The blazing joy in his eyes dimmed as his soul joined all deceased devils.

As soon as Moris' head made contact with the floor Damian fell to the ground and the pure energy limb he had taken was absorbed into his body. Disabling his soul's production of demonic energy his wriggling flesh froze and his body's accelerated healing halted.

Laying on the ground, Damian looked at the destroyed ceiling with empty eyes. His eyes burned as though he were crying yet no tears escaped him. His parents, the people he lived for, had been taken from him.

And with them went a part of his soul.

Time passed slowly as Damian's mind was filled with memories of his parents, both the good and bad moments, yet over time his mind was filled with the sight of their corpses resting on the cold earth.

Each time he closed his tired eyes their cold bodies entered his mind. Forcing himself to stand despite his body screaming in protest Damian made his way over to his parent's corpses and moved them closer to one another.

He didn't utter as he stared at his parent's bodies, merely engraving their bodies into his memory. He was the cause of their death and this was his repentance. He would forever be haunted by this scene.

The sound of rubble falling to the ground, blood leaking from his body, and his own gasps for breath were all that echoed throughout the area. There was no congratulation from his mother, no worry from his father, and no banter from them all. They were gone.

Turning his head toward the blue dragon that his father had originally attacked Moris over Damian made his way over to the child and picked up, his body screaming angrily at the added weight.

Raising his head Damian reached his last remaining arm out, his arm vanishing into a pink ripple of space. Once he removed his hand there was a pink book in his hand with his name engraved on the front in familiar handwriting.

Pushing a small amount of his demonic energy into a drop of his blood he dripped it onto the single blank page in the notebook. The crimson droplet slowly fell through the air, vanishing into the page without a single sound.

On the page, the words 𝙎𝙪𝙢𝙢𝙤𝙣 𝘼𝙟𝙪𝙠𝙖 𝘽𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙯𝙚𝙗𝙪𝙗 were written clearly from his blood. Space itself rippled and shook and Ajuka Beelzebub appeared from thin air with a fork in one hand and a book in the other, a look of surprise on his face.

However, that surprise was tainted with wrath as Ajuka surveyed his surroundings within an instant, his eyes locking onto the bloodied figure of Damian. Flashing over to his student Ajuka placed his hand on Damian's shoulder, green energy flowing over his body.

Without giving Ajuka the time to speak Damian looked at Ajuka with empty eyes that froze Ajuka in place. "Take me home." Damian requested weakly, his body shaking even as his face remained impassive.

"Alright." Ajuke agreed softly, their figures vanishing instantly.
