Chapter 49: A exchange of information

The moment they heard the sound of the horn, the mage who was preparing to launch a spell completely forgot about it.

"You have managed to live due to your luck" The mage who had launched the devastating ball of flame exclaimed.

He turned his back to Lucius and charged in a certain direction. Lucius didn't understand why they had left, they could have killed him easily if they wanted to.

He looked around him and saw that the bandits who were fighting with his summons also started to flee. He could vaguely guess why they were fleeing.

"The sound of the horn is probably some kind of escape message for them," Lucius thought to himself.

However, he had no intention of stopping or following them, at least not in this condition.

His summons followed them but he hurriedly gave out new commands to his summons.

"No need to follow them, stay here and protect me from any danger" Lucius gave out new commands to his summons.

Upon hearing his new commands, the summons halted their steps and formed a formation around them to protect him.

Lucius tried to get up but whenever he tried to move his leg. He felt serious pain. He suspected that his bones were broken. Lucius also felt a burning sensation in his flesh.

"I need to have a look at my notification to understand my current state" Lucius muttered under his breath.

With nothing left to do, Lucius began to read the notification flashing in his retina.

(You have suffered serious damage)

(The blazing winds are burning your body. The blazing winds have turned your skin to ashes, exposing your flesh)

(Your legs are seriously injured. You can move for the next 5 minutes. Speed will decrease by 60 percent until your wounds are healed.)

(Your health has dropped to 60)

(Flames have penetrated through your skin. You will suffer from burnt status for the next hour)

(You will lose 20 HP every 10 minutes)

(You have completed the submission: Stalling)

(You have received the rewards for completing the first condition)

Lucius completely ignored the last lines, his eyes were focused on the third- last line. Due to reading the notifications, the extent of the injuries he suffered became clear. He discovered the reason behind the burning sensation of his flesh.

"My life is still in danger. If I don't get medical help in the next 30 minutes then I will surely die" Lucius exclaimed, his voice carrying fear.

He was pondering what to do. Just as he was pondering on what to do, Lucius felt the familiar auras from the distance.

"These are the aura of the guards. They are not far away from me. I need to get their attention but how" Lucius exclaimed as he pondered what to do.

They probably couldn't sense his area now since his aura was quite weak due to the injuries he had suffered.

A few seconds of thinking later, he got an idea.

"According to the system, I will be able to walk after 6 minutes. The time is almost up so I should be regaining my ability to walk soon.

I will just have to wait" Lucius thought to himself.

A minute or two later, Lucius tried to move his leg which he succeeded. However, he felt serious pain whenever he tried to move his body.

"I need to tolerate the pain and move towards the guards if I want to live" Lucius mumbled.

Lucius looked around him, he saw the ground had numerous cracks and there was countless debris around him. Flames were burning around him in a radius of 10 meters.

The place looked like complete hell. Lucius also saw that the Book of Creation was flying toward him. He raised his hand and regained the book. He looked at the book but he didn't even find a single burnt spot on the book. However, he wasn't surprised since he knew the book was very strong.

He looked at his summons which were still guarding him

"Do I still need them?" Lucius mumbled.

A few minutes of pondering later, Lucius decided not to cancel the summoning.

"Just to be safe, I will not cancel my Summoning since then I won't have anyone to protect me from danger," Lucius thought to himself.

Lucius stood up firmly on his legs despite the pain. The first thing he did after standing up was to reclaimed his sword which was a few meters away from him. He walked towards the sword and reclaimed it.

He moved towards the direction of the guards as fast as he could. Midway through his journey, he felt serious pain throughout his body as a notification flashed in his retina.

(Your health has decreased by 20)

Due to the pain, he felt Lucius halted his steps for a few minutes before he resumed his course again.

"They are not too far away, I must not stop at any cost," Lucius thought to himself as he walked forward.

A few minutes of walking later, Lucius finally saw the guards in sight but they seemed to be in great distress. However, he didn't have the time to worry about that

He called out to them without hesitation.

"Hey guys, I need some help here!!" Lucius shouted as he hoped that they would come to help.

Just a few seconds after he shouted, the guards turned around and looked at him. One of the guards began to walk towards him. Seeing this, Lucius became hopeful of his survival.

They got close enough, they saw him riddle with injuries. It looked like a miracle that he was alive with so many injuries.

"What happened to you?" A guard asked Lucius.

Lucius didn't waste any time and explained what had happened in great detail. The guards listened to him quietly for the next few minutes before he stopped talking.

The leader of the guard let out a sigh when they heard of the things that happened at his side.

"So you weren't also able to kill a single bandit or at least detain them" The guard let out a sigh.

"I have some valuable information that you might want to know but before that please give me a health recovery potion. If I don't take any health recovery option then I will die in a few minutes" Lucius said to him, his voice sounding very weak.

The guard nodded his head and threw a potion towards him. Lucius caught the potion. Then he gulped the potion without wasting any time.

The moment he gulped down the potion, a notification flashed in his retina.

(You have consumed low tier healing potion)

(Your HP has increased by 300)

(Your health has maxed out

Current HP: 235)

(You have recovered from the burnt status)

The moment Lucius drank the potion, his injuries began to close up. The cells healing his destroyed tissue were visible to the naked eye.

Lucius felt the burning sensation in his muscles slowly fading away. The pain he was feeling throughout his body had decreased significantly.

Just a minute or two later, after he had gulped down the potion. A voice resounded through his ears.

"So what valuable information do you have? Do you mind telling us" The leader of the guard asked.

Upon hearing this, Lucius nodded his head.

"You see that when I was fighting with the bandits. I had inflicted serious wounds on the one bandit. Just as I was to deliver the finishing attack.

A powerful burst of evil energy erupted from his body. I suspect that the evil energy was demonic energy." Lucius said, his voice carrying seriousness.

When the guards heard that, they widened their eyes in disbelief almost like they couldn't believe what they heard.

"Tell us what happened next." The leader demanded, he sounded very serious.
