9 Best There Ever Was (6)

Snow Day:

Looking out of my bedside window, I take in the glistening snow softly falling and slowly piling onto the blanket of pristine white covering the town. Memories of my past life are brought into the forefront of my mind. Scenes of the times, I played with my older brother in the snow, making snow tunnels, igloos, snow forts and the preceding snow fights, flash by. A tear drips from my left eye as my thoughts move to wondering how he and the rest of my family are doing.

Time passes while I stare out the window mindlessly. A shift in light allows me to see my reflection in the glass. Looking at myself, I begin to stare at myself as if trying to find out all the secrets I hold. After a while I begin to think without thoughts and see without looking, leaving me feeling like I know everything yet have learned nothing. With a soft blink my trance is broken. I slowly look around my room taking in reality with a numbed mind. Closing my eyes I take a couple deep breaths and begin forgetting my problems, feeling the last of my worries be washed away into the dark hole within my mind, I stand up and start my day.

Taking off my sky blue pajamas with images of mantine gliding through water on it. I change into a pair of black sweatpants, a thick pair of grey socks, and finish by putting on a white shirt with a combat ready sneasel On the front. I turn my gaze toward the mirror to double check how I look. A quick once over reveals no obvious flaws. Taking a few extra seconds I admire my jet black hair with ash grey tips and my multi colored eyes going from lighting yellow to arctic blue and finishing with a layer of crystal red surrounding my iris.

Satisfied with my well built four year old self looking back at me. I remove my snow clothes from the bottom of the closet and carry it down stairs. After leaving the box by the backdoor, I head to the dining room for some breakfast.

Upon entering the dining room my nose is assaulted by the delicious scent of Dad's pancakes. A smile forms on my face, as my mouth is reminded how delicious Dad's pancakes are. Taking a seat at the table, I unfurl the daily newspaper that was laying in the middle of the table eager to practice my reading. By the time I am done with reading the daily news section, I hear Mom's footsteps coming down the stairs. After conforming what I heard, I begin to read "Relationships in our Time" by Samuel O. After reading half a paragraph, Mom shambles into the dining room. She carefully takes the seat across from me and calls out, "Lucy, I need coffee!" Within moments Dad enters the room carrying a steaming plate full of pancakes in one hand and in the other was a fresh pot of coffee.

After placing the plate on the table, he pours the coffee into their pair of "Best Husband/Wife Ever" mugs. After he finished pouring he kisses Mom on the forehead and softly whispers in her ear, "Anything for my Sea." Mom slowly looks up at him and answers with, "I love you" Dad chuckles and responds, "I love you too".

While my parents continue their antics, I wisely go after the pancakes. As I am polishing off my first pancake, they return to the real world. After an embarrassed cough from both, Dad heads back into the kitchen and Mom starts digging into the pancakes. Dad returns with some cold milk and a basket full of Starf, Mago, and Nanab berries.

Polishing of my plate, I asked Mom if I could play outside in the snow with Umbreon. Mom answers, "Why of course Beyond, go play with Umbreon. Just remember to be careful." With a quick "Thanks Mom" I rush off to find Umbreon and get dressed for the snow.

Moments later I find Umbreon curled up on a couch in the living room. Slowly sneaking up on her, with hopes of petting her while she is half asleep. Once within range, I carefully start to pet her cute black ears. After a within a few pets, she is purring in satisfaction. I softly whisper, "Umbreon it's time to get up." With a loud "Umbbb" in protest she rolls on to her other side. In response to Umbreon's resistance, I start to tickle her. Which is super effective, she is rolling on the couch begging for mercy. I only stop after a good 30 seconds.

She looks up at me with a "How could you do this to me" look in her eyes. With a small chuckle I say, " Come on. We're going outside, to play in the snow." Umbreons seems to consider her options at this moment, because she just sits there with a lost look for a few seconds. With a spiteful "Umb" she hops off the couch and heads toward the back door.

After getting dressed in snow pants, a snow jacket, snow boots, and a beanie. I open the backdoor and with a rush of crisp cool air I step out onto the porch. Looking around at the mounds of snow for a good place to build a fort and snowballs. I see Typhlosion carefully clearing the snow from the porch and tossing it toward the back right of the yard. Scraping my original idea, I decide to make a tunnel system under the snow. Finalizing my plans I head toward the snow.

[Several hours later]

With a belly full of lunch, I head back outside. And examine my and Umbreon's work. So the entrance to the tunnel system is about one meter off the porch, and with the cold weather freezing the water I had placed along the walls. Turned them into ice with a pretty ice blue color. Stepping back I move to get a running start. Running across the porch I quickly reach the edge and jump off. When I come in for the landing I perform a perfect baseball slide into the entrance. And within five seconds I have slid into the first and largest opening within my system. In this room I have made a few sofa chairs and have craved the images of Pokemon into the walls. Moving into the tunnel leading off this room will reveal a fork in the tunnel. With one leading to a slide course under the snow and the other going to different outlets. Coming back to the first room, I lie the cool icy floor looking up at the ceiling. Which has sunlight lighting up the snow. I snuggle up in my warm snow clothing and drift into sleep proud of my work.

Upon waking up, I find Umbreon laying next to me soundly asleep. As I sit up, Umbreon opens her beautiful ruby red eyes and looks a me curiously. Heading out toward the entrance, I call back to her, "Come on, the day it young. Lets go play!" And that is what we did for the rest of the day.
